Business / Re: On Ebay: How to Prevent a Scammer From Bidding On My Auction? by pie1ect(m): 10:17pm On Mar 16, 2006
Just want to share my eBay experience with fellow Nairalanders. A silly mistake that almost proved fatal.

About four days ago, I got this e-mail apparently from eBay stating that my Listings had been confirmed. I generally deal in Software products.
But the Listing(s) was for a SuzuKi PowerBike (all the way from Somewhere in the US) and another from somewhere here in England. Both going for $6,795 each.

Immediately I got the notification, I decided to log into my eBay account (using the links included in the e-mail) to :
1. find out how the heck I was able to List two PowerBikes for Sale without lifting a finger;
2. Delete the listings.
I logged on successfully, but Lo and behold, I could not Delete the listings. I contacted eBay and was told to change all my passwords. I did that but five minutes later, I couldn't even log on with my password (both old and New).

Long and short of the story is: By opening the mail I received and clicking on the Link inside it, I had unknowingly installed an invisible keylogger on my system and someone, somewhere got easy access to my account. Luckily for me, Spybot S&grin was able to detect it and got it off my system for good.

By the Time I was able to gain control of my account a few hours later, I had incurred Listing fees of over $150 dollars. Thankfully, eBay cancelled those fees and I'm back in business, but those few hours were the most scary for me.

Be warned. Don't Click on links included in Mails from eBay/PAYPAL. The safest way is to open a New Window and log into your account from there.

Here we go again -

Rooney better than Henry?

Now I think I need some sleep.

Do I have to reply to this rubbish?

@Jackal
If I wanted to start a debate on who is better at tucking the ball away, I could have supported my points with statistics.

If you still are not clear on what this thread is about : Here it is in English

"Between Thiery Henry and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who do you guys reckon is the better footballer?

BTW, you won't need a rocket scientist as my signature clearly shouts my allegiance, if you don't mind.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: For Your Viewing Pleasure- R. V. Nistelrooy Vs T. Henry by pie1ect(m): 9:15pm On Mar 16, 2006
@Jackal
When you talk about the public, are you talking about some dummies who can't read for themselves?
And do you care to disprove any of the facts I stated above?

The stats I stated - i.e No. of goals scored by each palyer- is on Yahoo Sports for all the World to see and I have posted the individual links above.

BTW, do I have to remind you that I did not ask who was the better Striker at the beginning of this thread?

FFS,Henry has not even played as an out-and-out striker for most of his career.

@Akolawole

I can't beleive you are including Eto'o in this discussion. Which day we start to hear Eto's Name for European football?
By the way, Eto's has the luxury of playing with such wizards of the game as Ronaldinho, Deco, Messi and Xavi every other week. If he's not able to perform with such high-quality service, then he doesn't qualify to play football. Henry on the other hand has managed to break almost every record with players of slightly lower calibre, which is not too surprising given the average age of the Arsenal team.

For your information, Eto's has never out-scored(not even close to) Thiery Henry in a full season since 99/00 to date and it's not going to happen this season either. I really can't beleive you would day Eto'o is better than Henry.

By your logic, probably Drogba is better than Ronaldo or Raul?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: For Your Viewing Pleasure- R. V. Nistelrooy Vs T. Henry by pie1ect(m): 7:37pm On Mar 16, 2006
@Everyone that wants to bite my head off.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy has scored - 47 goals in all European Competitions to date.

Thierry Henry, on the other hand has scored - 48 goals in all European Competitions to date.

Which European Statistics Una dey talk about?

Let's talk Individual Acheivements, shall we?

**For the last two years running, Henry has ended up with the European Golden Boot award. Same is going to happen this year again, the way things are going.

**For two years running, the boy was voted Second-best Footballer in the World, second only to true Legends of the game in Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho.

**Henry was France's Top Scorer at France 98', Euro 2000, Confed Cup 2003. In all these tournaments, he came away with the Winners' medal (GOLD MEDAL)

**At his age, he's the all-time top scorer at Arsenal bar none. And his record doesn't look to be under any sort of threat.

**Despite the fact that Henry does not play as an out-and-out striker like Ruud does, he still manages to outscore every "Fox-in-the-box" in Europe consistently, never mind Van Nistelrooy.

In comparison to these afore-mentioned acheivements, can someone now explain to me What Ruud Van Nistelrooy has aceived in all his years of playing football and how he is a better striker than Henry?

For me, Henry is in a different class to Ruud Van Nistelrooy and will be remembered as a true great of this game.

Quote- Lilian Thuram
- "He's a wizard with his feet and is blessed with a gift for scoring goals. His best quality is his speed while the ball is at his feet. He may be the fastest man ever to lace up a football boot. No defender in the world can keep up with him."

@Priscila
I don't necessarily subscribe to your school of thought. While Ronaldinho might still be a major influence on the team, the main danger-man for Barca currently is Lionel Messi. When he plays along with Eto'o and Ronaldinho, there seems to be no stopping Barca.

What Football Team Plays The Most Exciting, Entertaining Football In The World?

@EVERYONE

Do you boys seem to realise that Patrick Vieira was 29 years Old? How much were you g.uys expecting him to be sold for?

I have to say I was quite releived when he left the Club. He seemed like he was beginning to lose his enthusiasm and I think Wenger took the best decision for everyone involved.

Sports / Re: Peter Crouch: What Manner Of A Player? by pie1ect(m): 11:33pm On Mar 12, 2006
This guy, I think is the worst player that ever walked this planet, maybe save for Pascal Cygan and a few others.

But seriously, Peter Crouch is dissapointing to say the least. You'd expect someone of his stature to be good in his position upfront. He never ceases to make me laugh, though.
Peter Crouch Worth £7M? That's like say Didier Drogba was worth £24M or that SW-Phillips was worth £21M.
Sports / Re: World's Most Entertaining Football Team by pie1ect(m): 2:35am On Mar 11, 2006
Over the past few years, we've surely been consistent. But I assumed the question was about the present.
Sports / Re: World's Most Entertaining Football Team by pie1ect(m): 2:04am On Mar 11, 2006
You can't say Barca are not entertaing. You have your opinions though.

What I call entertaining is watching a team move the ball around the feild crisply (with the ball on the ground) and doing it with a good dose of flair, a little bit of style here and a little bit of poise there.

Barcelona, I'm afraid are the only team that can produce such stuff consistently.

For Arsenal, it depends on us having a good day. On our good day though, there are very few teams that can compete against us. But consistency is lacking.

Nice topic

Most entertaining, exciting football team in the World -

Barcelona (5 star)

Arsenal ( 4 star)

Lyon (4 star)

Corinthians (3.5 stars)

That's my take. If I have to choose one, I go for Barcelona.

Oh yeah, I'm an Arsenal fan.

You Chelsea boys are really Funny y'know, the way you go on about some kind of perceived domination. Apparently, you are supposed to be dominating World football according to one Peter Kenyon who happens to be the Chief -clown of Chelsea FC.

You are oppressing the premier league? Are you joking?

Have you forgotten that not too long ago, Arsenal went a whole season unbeaten? Something that your club will never accomplish?
Have you forgotten that for over 9 years prior to your fluke wins over our second string side, you had not beaten us once in the league?
I laugh when matters concerning Chelsea are discussed. Where teams like Arsenal are concerned, una suppose dey hide una head for sand.
One league trophy every fifty years (and the second one being facilitated by excessive money) is not something to brag about, especially not to a club with a record as awesome as Arsenal's.

Just so you know, I supported Barca because they were playing against Chelsea. Yes, I support any team playing against your team, even if it happened to be Warri Utd.

It's just the way it goes, bro.

BTW, Be prepared to eat your words when this Juve tie is over and done with.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / It's Arsenal Against Juventus by pie1ect(m): 1:08pm On Mar 10, 2006
Hey fellow Gunners, It's the Q'finals and it's Arsenal against Juventus.

Honestly, I would have preffered Ajax/Inter/Benefica but hey, if you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best.

Abi nor be so?

Bizarrely, for some reason I don't see us losing to Juve. Call it Blind optimism or something else but my instincts tell me we are going to a 'Liverpool' over them in this Q'final.

Would be fun to see Vieira turning out for one last time at Highbury, even though he would be in Black and white Stripes instead of Red.

Peace!

Sports / Re: Should We Blame Mourhino For Counter Reaction? by pie1ect(m): 1:38am On Mar 10, 2006
In answer to the Original Question, I say YES, We should blame Mourinho for the Counter-reaction. In fact, if you don't blame Mourinhom, who do you blame?

If the Chelsea coach had learned to pay a little bit of respect to his opponents, things wouldn't have turned out as bad as they did for him when he arrived Barcelona.
Mourinho is not the most-hated coach in football today because of his "success". It is simply because of his vanity, his total lack of respect for opponents, lack of respect for his fellow professionals and the fact that he does not know the meaning of the word "moderation".
He has turned your club into some kind of circus act and instead of being in the news for good things (which he has done quite a lot of), Chelsea and Mourinho are almost always in the news for the wrong reasons.

You can not go round degrading your fellow professionals, insulting the intelligence of other people and expect them to treat you like a King when they meet you. In case you didn't realise, it's not only Chelsea that have paassionate Fans.

The Barca fans did exactly what Chelsea fans would have done if Rijkaard had insulted Mourinho in much the same way Mourinho did to Rijkaard and his team. And trust me, if it was a Turkish team involved, I am sure Mourinho would have been hospitalised.

About the WBA Incident - Just about every manager has figured out the dirty game Mourinho plays and you know what? - Bryan Robson was just playing the game according to Mourinho's Script.

It's the law of Karma, My friends - What goes around Come around.

Barca had already beaten Chelsea but for the most dubious penalty decision in this year's CL so far.

If that penalty had been given against Chelsea, Jose would be singing it as a song in the media.

Career / It Certifications Or Degree - Which Way To Go? by pie1ect(m): 5:02am On Mar 09, 2006
Short Question here for y'all already in the industry.

For an aspiring IT professional (Network/System Administrator) , is it more worthwhile taking professional certification exams like A+,CCNA, Redhat Linux RHCT/RHCE/RHCA, MCSE or does one need a Barchelors' degree in Networking?

Since there are Industry standard certifications as mentioned above, Is a Degree really important in this feild or is it even of any use apart from trying to impress a prospective employer?
