Politics / Fela Durotoye's Take On The Protests by pingu2k5(m): 7:37pm On Jan 16, 2012
As I watched the events of the last 36hours
unfold, I have had to explain to my wife and
children why I am so silent, so angry and so sad
at the same time?
My silence comes from being in awe as I witness
the unprecedented yet amazing collaboration of
MILITARY and MILITANTS in accomplishing a
common goal, to silence the voice of the
people.
I am so angry that precious lives have been lost
as ordinary citizens protested against an unjust
policy that was clearly not thought-through and
yet, our President describes these fallen heroes as
the "adverse effects" of the protest.
I am angry that our President made so many
open-ended promises without clear deliverables
or deadlines and thought we would be gullible and
simple-minded enough to say OK.
I am so angry that in a hard-earned democratic
dispensation, our elected officials went into the
barracks and cantonments to invite the very same
soldiers (who we fought to return to the barracks)
unto the streets against unarmed protesters while
armed bandits, militants and terrorists express
themselves freely without being muzzled by the
military might of our government.
But then I am also very sad because I've watched
this charade play out itself many times before
(without the novelty of the military and the
militants.)
Like I articulated in my facebook message (of
January 5, 2012,) on this issue of fuel subsidy
removal, this script has been acted out too many
times for us to have forgotten how the charade
ends.
Act 1 Scene 1:
Government (hints but) suddenly announces the
increase in the pump price of petroleum
products.
Act 1 Scene 2:
The people are angry about Government feeble
excuses and explanations asking people to pay
more because they can't confront the corrupt
system that makes it unsustainable to keep fuel
prices low .
Act 2 Scene 1:
Organised labour and trade union sense that it is
time to bring out the capes and harken to the
people's cry for super-heroes.
You know the rest of the story, don't you?
Government gets a court injuction restraining
labour from embarking on a strike.
Labour disobeys the unjust injunctions and go out
to exercise their constitutional rights to call an
unemployed populace to mass action.
The youth, the homeless, the poor and the
unemployed come out en-mass and protest.
Labour makes public declarations of the position
of the people.
Government invites labour to closed door
meetings. Something (we call negotiation)
happens behind the closed doors.
Labour emerges from closed door meetings and
declares a deadlock.
Govt goes ahead to REDUCE but NOT REVERSE
pump price.
Labour suspends strike. Employers are happy to
get their staff back to work. Everybody gets back
on the Rat Race (All motion, No Movement, I
think the better way to put it is win-win!!!
The only people that lose and suffer are the poor
and unemployed who we all said would lose more
if we continue the struggle against pump price
increments.
We never go 'backward' to collect our stolen
funds from the corrupt officials and the cabals
well known to the government.
Rather, we choose to go 'forward' to rob our
poor, feeble and voiceless forever and forget
them until its time to bring them out to
'negotiate' another unjust policy.
So we are back to where it all began,
ASUU continues its strike and no one notices the
degenerating young minds wasting away in our
homes and on our streets.
LASU school fees still increased by 900% and
admission now costing 250,000 Naira for newly
admitted students seeking an education to
prepare their minds for the future.
The Nigerian Medical Association and doctors
must now return back to their death centers
(oops, I meant health centers) and continue to
watch helplessly as hopeless patients die from
preventable systemic decay rather than the
diseases that brought them to the hospital.
Some of us will now go back to the LEKKI TOLL
GATES and continue to pay toll, since we now
have protest-fatigue. In any case, no one
remembers why we were fighting against the
unjust tolling of a road that was built by
LKJakande with tax payers money and now
refurbished by concessionaires. What's the big
deal? Let the government continue to collect our
taxes to build other roads and we continue to pay
tolls to drive on our own (sorry, LCC's) road.
Really, I am sad and angry because after all said
and done, nothing has changed, Except for the
price of fuel from 65 to 97Naira per liter.
Still no refineries, no good roads, no power, no
portable water, corrupt officials still in office as
they continue 'partnering' with their cabals.
Investigations without conclusion. Accusations
without prosecution. And the world keeps going
round and round.
So when is real change going to come?
As I stated in my earlier message on Jan 5, 2012,
the change we need is not just policy. It is in the
quality of mind and persons at policy making
positions.
Without a doubt, our change will come the day
our Brightest and Best minds silently RESOLVE
that Enough is Enough of mediocrity in policy-
making positions and begin to prepare to occupy
positions (and not just parks) through the
electoral process.
So how will we effectively deliver sustainable
desired-change?
WE NEED A CRITICAL MASS OF NEW NIGERIANS
TO TAKE HOLD OF EVERY LEVEL OF POLICY
MAKING POSITIONS BY 2015. Not a few good
men and women whose voices will get drowned
in the cacophony of mediocrity.
Let our brightest and best brains begin serious
preparations NOW. Don't wait till 2014 to decide
you want to make a change by running for office
in 2015. It will be too late if you don't start
NOW!!!!
As we keep up the pressure for good governance,
let another set of emerging leaders (with a heart
for the nation and a love for the people) arise and
begin to prepare for 2015. We must encourage,
train, mentor and empower the right people to go
where few dare.
I have committed my life to raise and prepare as
many exemplary leaders of excellence to take
over the various policy making positions at all
levels of governance (federal, state and local)-
executive and legislative.
This is only the beginning of a long and arduous
journey. The real Nigerian spring is going to be in
April 2015.
Until we change the quality of people in policy-
making positions, we won't yet have real and
lasting victory.
Don't get it twisted, The 2015 elections is going
to be the opportunity for the real Nigerian Spring.
The real question is , Will we be ready to bring
the real change we've always desired with the
same zeal and fervor as we show now?
Please don't let today's passion die tomorrow.
The struggle continues today, tomorrow and
forever. We WILL deliver the future!
God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic
of Nigeria.

Politics / Goodluck Jonathan And Diezani Alison-Madueke Having An Affair? by pingu2k5(m): 4:04pm On Jan 13, 2012
So Jona Dey Ynansh Her?

A few days before names of then Acting President Goodluck Jonathan’s ministerial nominees were announced, there was a serious quarrel between the first couple. A source who witnessed the quarrel said, “The fight was so bad that madam nearly tore Oga’s shirt.” The bone of contention was the pending announcement of Deziani Allison Madueke as one of the ministerial nominees.

Two years earlier Patience Goodluck Jonathan
had openly confronted Deziani Allison Madueke’s mother, Beatrice Agama, at an event in Port Harcourt. Patience told Deziani’s mother, “Mama, please tell your daughter to leave my husband alone. She is married and I’m married. What kind of thing is this?” An eyewitness told this reporter: “The woman was so embarrassed all she could mutter was, “What is she talking about?”

Days before Deziani was announced as the new Petroleum Minister, our group exclusively
reported that she demanded to be given the
petroleum ministry, a demand, we are told, she made in 2007 but could not get. Although there was overwhelming support for Odein
Ajumogobia, SAN, who was Minister of State for Petroleum under Rilwani Lukman and was
expected to get the substantive job, in the oil
and gas industry, Deziani insisted that she be
given the job. Ajumogobia was given the Foreign Affairs Ministry while Deziani Allison Madueke got her wish—the Petroleum Ministry.

In fairness, Deziani Madueke before being
appointed minister in 2007 had worked with
Shell Petroleum Development Company. She got to the position of Executive Director of the
multinational conglomerate. While there is some controversy as to her experience in the oil industry and level of competence, the fact is
that she left Shell as an Executive Director, a
position few Nigerian women, if any had occupied.

On the day the First Lady of Nigeria, Patience
Goodluck Jonathan traveled to Dubai, sources
said, she wrote a note to her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan. The note, which was hand- delivered by one of her two children supposedly encouraged the President to invite Deziani Allison Madueke “to move into the Presidential Villa.” We could not independently confirm this but a source who was with her on the trip to Dubai told this reporter that the First Lady refused to take calls from the President for the first couple days she was in Dubai.

The day before her departure to Dubai, a
Saturday, then Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Shehu Ladan spent two hours at the Aso Rock Villa. Most of the two hours the GMD was at the Villa was spent in consultation with the First Lady. Ladan traveled to London on official assignment the day the First Lady took off to Dubai. The next day Ladan was fired from his job and no reasons were given. From what our group has been able to piece together with information available, Shehu Ladan is said to have executed five oil deals on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Minister of Petroleum signed off on these deals. One of the beneficiaries of this deal is Patience Goodluck Jonathan. According to some
sources, the First Lady made $2,000,000 profit
from her deal. This was later reported to the
President by Deziani Madueke who claimed that Ladan “misled” her.

The Monday Ladan Shehu was sacked while on
official assignment in London, Presidency
sources said the Petroleum Minister had visited the Villa to see the President. She was said to have presented two documents to the
President; one, for approval to sack the NNPC
GMD and the second one was for the appointment of his successor. The President,
according our sources, read the documents and quickly signed them. “The President did not even consult anybody or directed that a query be issued to Ladan. She just handed him
documents, the man read them and just signed. I can tell you that is the fastest decision this man has made since I’ve known him,” said one Presidency official.

The President and Deziani Madueke have a
relationship dating back to his time as Deputy
Governor of Bayelsa State. Some even claim
that the relationship predates his years as
Deputy Governor. A source claims the President and the Petroleum Minister are cousins. This claim was quickly dismissed by several sources who have known them for years.

A very credible source informed this reporter
recently that Pres. Goodluck Jonathan came
close to divorcing his wife, Patience, last year.
According to this source, what saved the
marriage was the intervention of Hassan Tukur, current Principal Secretary to the President. Tukur was then the Head of the Nigerian Energy Commission. He is a “long time pal of the President.”

Deziani Allison Madueke’s place as one of the
two most powerful women in Nigeria today is
not in doubt. Nowhere is her power more visible and pronounced than at the Presidential Villa. According to several presidency and security sources, any time Deziani visits the office of the president nobody else is allowed to see the President. One source told our group “Soon after Oga
became Acting President, Deziani came to visit
him. Shortly after she walked into the Acting
President’s office, the then Principal Secretary
to the Acting President walked in to take some
documents to him. Jonathan just raised his hand to stop the man in his tracks. After that
everybody got the message. You do not enter
the President’s office when Deziani is visiting.”
These visits we are told sometimes lasts up to
three hours.

After the sack of Shehu Ladan as the GMD of
NNPC, there were rumors that the former GMD had engaged in a shouting match with the Petroleum Minister. However, almost
everybody we spoke to for this story who had
known Ladan Shehu insisted that the man was
not capable of such behavior. Some top NNPC
staffers who spoke with this reporter insisted
that Deziani was threatened by Ladan’s alleged
closeness to Patience Jonathan. “You see,
Deziani would’ve been ticked off by Ladan going to the Villa to spend two hours with Patience. The Minister in a meeting with us informed us that she demands 100% loyalty and would not tolerate any disloyalty. How do you think she would’ve seen Ladan’s visit to the First Lady even though there was nothing personal in that visit?” said an NNPC staffer.

We could not confirm if indeed there was a meeting between Deziani and top NNPC staffers. The President’s relationship with Deziani Madueke, official and harmless though it may be, has not been well received by Nigerians. Several people we spoke to for this article advised the President to “tone it down.” One very angry Bayelsa political chieftain said to our group: “The President’s relationship with Deziani may be harmless…I tend to believe all these rumors are lies but even at that the man should tone it down. He is the man.” Another person told us: “How can on his first official visit to the United States, instead of going with his wife to see Pres. Obama who was with his own wife, he took as part of his entourage Deziani? Don’t get
me wrong, I’m not saying there’s anything
between them but if it were you would you do
it? Tongues are wagging about you and one
woman and on your first official visit you take
her instead of your wife, on your first state visit
to your wife’s state you take this same woman
and send off your wife to Delta State. Haba, let
common sense prevail here.”

Nairaland / General / Fela Durotoye's Warning About Ndimrc And Blc Ultimatum Threats by pingu2k5(m): 9:34pm On Jan 11, 2012
As we have all witnessed over the last few days, the path of national development is not always a smooth one.

On our journey to building our nation into all that God has blessed Nigeria to be, we will go through many rough patches but we must stay together, walk together and work together until we arrive at our desired glorious destination.

To build our beloved country Nigeria into a most desirable society to live in may be considered by some to be an improbable quest, a near mission impossible. But the secret to all impossibility is revealed by
God when He said, "If these people as ONE people, speaking with ONE voice have begun to do this, then NOTHING that they imagine shall be IMPOSSIBLE for them." We may differ in opinion on key issues affecting our nation but we must not let our differences divide us. We are ONE NATION and ONE PEOPLE with ONE GLORIOUS DESTINY.

Yet, as the debates/activities on the fuel subsidy removal ensue, I am compelled to bring to your immediate attention, a looming crisis of unimaginable consequences if not well-handled by our government, leadership and populace.

On Jan 3rd, a faceless terrorist group called the Boko Haram issued a 3-day ultimatum asking all Nigerians of Southern Nigerian origin and all Christians to "leave" the Northern Nigerian states. The Boko Haram's threat was directed to all Southerners (regardless of whether they were Muslims or whether they were born and bred in the North) as well as all Christians (regardless of whether they are originally from a Northern state.) So as to be taken seriously, the Boko Haram attacked and killed 20 NIGERIANS of South-
Eastern origin whilst at having a town hall meeting in Mubi and on the same day killed another 10 NIGERIANS in Maiduguri, Adamawa State. 6 NIGERIANS were also killed when assailants stormed the Deeper Life church in Bogo, Gombe State.
Today, 4 NIGERIANS were killed by Boko Haram assailants who attacked a bus in Yobe state carrying Christian Igbo traders fleeing the northern Nigeria for their homeland.

Consequently, yesterday the 10th of January, a group known as the Niger-Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change (NDIMRC) issued reprisal ultimatums giving all Nigerians of Northern origin 21 days to leave the Niger-Delta or face attacks. Today, another group - the Biafran Liberation Council (BLC) - has issued a similar 7-day ultimatum to northerners and Muslims in the Southern part of the nation to leave the area or be ready to become "victims". Just like the Boko Haram, the NDIMRC and the
BLC have issued these malicious threats to fellow Nigerians based on ethnicity and regardless of place of birth.

Somehow, in the heat of the debates and
preparations for protest against the fuel subsidy removal, these abonimable acts of murder against unarmed and defenseless Nigerians and the subsequent ultimatums have been glossed over with a grossly-inadequate response by all and sundry.
These abominations just haven't received the adequate and appropriate reactions from leaders of thought and influence in government and society as it deserved. Through our silence, WE have ALL collectively failed our fellow countrymen
who have lost their lives. Left unchecked, Nigerians may over the next few days be 'surprised' by the most abominable acts
of ETHNIC CLEANSING. Just because the calculated misdeeds of a faceless terrorist group, Nigerians may soon label their
fellow Nigerians as 'kinsman' or 'enemy' based on where their parents are from and not their contribution to the society or common thread of national unity that binds us together as Nigerians.

History is replete with stories of the unthinkable consequence of ethnic based attacks. In Nigeria, similar attacks ultimately led to the civil war in 1967. Remember that in 1994, about 800,000
Tutsis were massacred by extreme Hutu
nationalists in the Rwandan genocide. The
Czechoslovakia Serbs and Muslims. Over 6million Jews were massacred by Adolf
Hitler and his army in the worst ethnic cleansing in world history. The question is "can we learn from lessons of the past and apply today to secure our future?"

The most amazing thing about every ethnic crises was that they were all triggered by seeming inconsequential threats and actions that many brushed aside as mere nonsense. The immediate consequences of this overlooked atrocities include targeted attacks and killing of
defenseless Nigerians. We've seen this happen already. So this is not fiction. What we are witnessing may inspire reprisal attacks and hatred of fellow Nigerians of another ethnicity. Again left unchecked, this may degenerate into wanton destruction of lives and property and
consequently a mass exodus and forced
relocation of Nigerians within their own country.

Let me make this clear, All our debates and arguments about Fuel Subsidy removal will be inconsequential if we do NOTHING about this impending threat to our NATIONAL UNITY. I therefore seize this moment to call on all Nigerians to condemn the attacks and threats by Boko Haram as well as the ultimatums issued by the NDIMRC and the BLC. I call on all our elder statesmen and members of the Council of State to IMMEDIATELY arise and
meet with all the key traditional rulers from all the geopolitical regions of our nation. They MUST condemn the attacks and threats with ONE VOICE.

I call on all religious leaders (Christian and
Muslim) particularly the leaders of all the major religious associations to IMMEDIATELY meet and stand together to condemn all attacks and ensue for peace with ONE VOICE. Let us all remember that Boko Haram does not represent the Northern Nigeria (otherwise they won't be killing their own kinsmen and destroying the land). Boko Haram does not represent Islam (otherwise they shouldn't be killing our Muslim brothers and sisters as they have done indiscriminately).

As we have seen recently, the puppet masters behind these dastardly and cowardly acts of terrorism are highly placed power-seeking wealthy politicians who seek to divide us and weaken our resolve to build our nation. But they shall not prevail. We WILL not be divided. We must be UNITED in bid to retrieve the soul of our nation, restore our faith and revive our hope in the future of a new Nigeria. We MUST rebuild our beloved country into a nation that we
will all be proud to deliver to our children and
future generations.
We must all act with ONE PURPOSE, to keep
Nigeria one is a task that must be done.
We must all stand together as ONE PEOPLE,
though tribe and tongue may differ in
brotherhood we stand.
We must all speak with ONE VOICE and condemn
every ethnic attack, threats and ultimatums.
Even in the midst of the on-going fuel subsidy
removal impasse, it is time for you to speak out
and let your voice be heard.
God bless you and God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Gej In South Africa on Friday, speech was taped? by pingu2k5(m): 2:42am On Jan 09, 2012
Now I believe that there are some enemies of Nigeria that are after the failure of Jonathan. The President did not jet out to SA.

President Goodluck Jonathan last night accused
the House of Representatives of inciting
Nigerians against his government by passing a
resolution urging him to suspend the removal of
petrol subsidy.
He also described the resolution as a mere
expression of an opinion.
He denied jetting out to South Africa or
spending N1billion to feed in Aso Rock.
The President, who spoke through his Special
Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben
Abati, accused some of the lawmakers of
mischief.
He gave his reaction a few hours after the House
of Representatives passed its resolution.
The presidency had attempted to stop the
session but the House leadership defied its
pressure.
He said: “Well, I mean what the House of Reps
has said is merely an opinion and in a
Constitutional democracy, people have a right
to hold debates or to discuss.
“But I think it is most unfortunate that a House
of Representatives will hold a special meeting
on a Sunday. To the best of my knowledge, that
is the first time that will happen in
contemporary Nigerian history, that a special
meeting will be called on a Sunday just to
debate an issue of deregulation.
“Of course, I followed the debate for the most
part on television and the quality of the debate
as well. I think the less we say anything about
that, the better because I have cited the
example of a member of the House
misinforming Nigerians about the President’s
movement.
“And of course you saw how one lawmaker after
another had no basic facts. There was so much
interest in grandstanding and I think that the
entire exercise is more of a comment on some
of the individual contributors to the discussion.
“That extraordinary session coming a day on the
eve of an attempt by some people to disrupt
law and order could be interpreted in some
quarters as an attempt by the House of
Representatives to incite the Nigerian people
against the government and the last time I
checked the lawmakers are also a part of this
government.”
Asked whether the House decision will not be
binding on the President, the presidential
spokesman said the presidency will not go back
on the deregulation of the downstream sector.
He added: “The President has made his position
very clear in the national broadcast .”

Religion / Eyo Festival by pingu2k5(m): 8:58pm On Nov 23, 2011
Eyo festival is on Saturday. It will be widely celebrated in Lagos. A colleague of mine, a moslem and Lagosian, believes there is nothing occultic or spiritual about the festival. He said it is all entertainment.

He wants me to go watch Eyo and celebrate with him. Another colleague, a christian, cautioned me, saying I'd be worshipping other gods by doing so. She said Islam does not discourage such 'idol worshipping', and that is why he sees nothing wrong in the festival.

What is occultic about Eyo? Is it true that the Eyo's cane is charmed? Celebrating Eyo festival, does it conflict with christianity?

Religion / Islam Education by pingu2k5(m): 6:27pm On Nov 05, 2011
I came across this history of Mohammed on a website and I am in doubt that evrything in it is true. Please true muslims should educate me and fault this:

The god of Muslims is revealed as a tyrant who
demands Muslims and all others submit to him.
Whereas in the New Testament, Jesus revealed
to Christians a God who is a loving Father, who
wants us to come to Him via free will. In the
Old Testament (Exodus 34:6) the real God
revealed Himself as "merciful and gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and
truth". He is the Creator of the Universe, the
God of Love, and Lord of Life. The God of Israel
is this true God. He insists "Thou shall not kill
the innocent and just".
When a Muslim declares that Islam is a religion
of peace, he/she is either ignorant of the Koran
(Qur'an), or is deceitfully thinking of this
"peace", as it extends only to those within the
Muslim Community. The deceit is that they will
not tell you exactly what they mean. According
to the Qur'an: "Muhammad is the Apostle of
Allah. Those who follow him are merciful to one
another, but ruthless to unbelievers" Surah
48:29. "Kill the Mushrikun (unbelievers)
wherever you find them, and capture them and
besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each
and every ambush, " Surah 9:5. Also see Surah
9:29: PICKTHAL: "Fight against such of those
who have been given the Scripture (Christians &
Jews) as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day,
and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden
by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of
Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being
brought low.". Please note that there is not a
single verse in the entire Christian Bible that
contains this "open-ended", universal command
to kill/or be ruthless to unbelievers.
Surah 47:4 says:
Fa'idhā Laqītumu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Fađarba Ar-
Riqābi Ĥattaá 'Idhā 'Athkhantumūhum
Fashuddū Al-Wathāqa Fa'immā Mannāan Ba`du
Wa 'Immā Fidā'an Ĥattaá Tađa`a Al-Ĥarbu
'Awzārahā Dhālika Wa Law Yashā'u Allāhu
Lāntaşara Minhum Wa Lakin Liyabluwa
Ba`đakum Biba`đin Wa Al-Ladhīna Qutilū Fī
Sabīli Allāhi Falan Yuđilla 'A`mālahum
which means
Therefore, WHEN YOU MEET THE
UNBELIEVERS, SMITE AT THEIR NECKS; At
length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them,
bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the
time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the
war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye
commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He
could certainly have exacted retribution from
them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order
to test you, some with others. But those who are
slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their
deeds be lost.
Many Quran translators have tried to soften the
meaning in their translation by adding the words
“in war” in brackets after the word “Unbelievers”
but they are NOT there in the original Arabic
text.
Allah - the Pagan god:
Islam, teaches that Jews and Christians both
have earned the wrath of Allah by failing to
follow Islam, and that they have also lost the
way by following the teachings of the Torah for
the Jews, or the Bible for Christians.
Additionally, This god Allah (with a little g) lies
about Jesus. Islam says that Jesus not only is not
the Son of God, but that He did not even die on
a cross in Jerusalem, Allah is therefore
proven to be a false pagan god, Jews also do
not believe this about Jesus (Yeshua). Who will
believe it? The greatest of kings. Born in the
humblest of places, God, born in the flesh!
The Apostle Paul tells us that Jews have been
supernaturally blinded to this by God. Yet
Christians and Jews worship the same God
(Yahweh) and share the same Bible. Learn
more. See movies "The Nativity Story" and
"Jesus", here.
About 578 years before Islam came along,
Christians were warned against Islam by both
Jesus and the Apostle Paul. Jesus warned us
about the many false prophets who would
follow Him (Matthew 16:11-12) . Paul warned
us when he wrote:
“But even if we (or an angel from heaven)
should preach a Gospel contrary to the one we
preached to you, let him be condemned to
hell!” (Galatians 1:cool.
Since Islam’s message differs fundamentally
from the Gospel, it is clear what Paul taught
regarding the fate of Muhammad and those
who propagate Islam. Islam bypasses the
sacrificial mediating work Jesus did for believers
on the cross, thus negating the forgiveness of
sins. This condemns non-believers to die in
their sins. Jesus said; "I said therefore unto you,
that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not
that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." John
8:24
Jesus also predicted the current dilemma of
Muslim intolerance and fanaticism. He warned
that the day was likewise coming when religious
zealots will kill Christians and think they are
offering a service to God (John 16:2-4).
Dear Christians and Muslims. Jesus is
committed to winning the spiritual Holy War.
He wants nobody to suffer an eternity without
God, confined to a godless place. Know this,
that God Himself is calling out those Muslims
with good hearts! Jesus (Isa) Himself is
appearing to many. A few years ago, Al-Jazeera
reported that roughly six million Muslims are
leaving Islam and becoming followers of Jesus
every year in Africa. In 2005, roughly 250,000
Muslims converted to Christianity in Iran.
Between 2003-2005, roughly 1 million Muslims
converted to Christianity in Arab countries.
Muslims are coming to Christ in North America,
too, although not to the same extent as in
Muslim countries. Tens of millions are
embracing Jesus every few years in India and in
China. Chinese missionaries are now gearing up
to bring the Gospel of Jesus to dark Muslim
places.
The Muslim Qur'an (Koran) and Muslim
Hadith are unique among all the sacred
writings in the entire world -- because they
alone counsel its followers to make war on
unbelievers. Any thoughtful reader will be
forced to admit that evil literally "drips"
from their pages. One in every 55 verses in
the Muslim Qur'an consists of this fake god
Allah insisting that Muslims make war on
unbelievers.
As you will see below, the Qur'an is a made
up book of gibberish, of evil verses
abrogating (superseding) peaceful verses.
The Qur'an cannot be trusted because it
contains numerous "divinely inspired"
contradictions. If God has a history of
abrogating (changing) his own revelations
as is done in the Qur'an, then how can we
be certain he will not abrogate it again in
the future? If Allah can abrogate his eternal
speech, how can you trust him with your
eternal soul?
Comparing the Bible with the Qur'an "has
likewise brought the firm realization that the
contrast is stark and astounding. The superiority
of the Bible is so transparently evident that one
is flabbergasted and dumbfounded that so
many human beings have embraced Islam in
the last 1,400 years". , "The Quran lacks this
heavenly manifestation of inspiration". The

Jesus Christ:
To the Muslim, Jesus Christ is merely one of the
many prophets of Allah (Sura: 4:171; 5:74).
According to Islam, the prophet Muhammad
supersedes Jesus Christ. Islam says Jesus Christ
is not the Son of God or part of any Trinity
(Surah 5:17; 5:116; 19:35). We are told by
Islam that Jesus was the Messiah (Surah 3:45;
4:157; 171), but nothing but a slave on whom
God showed favor (Surah 43:59); yet elsewhere
in the Qur'an we are told the Messiah is not a
slave (Surah 4:172). The Qur'an tells us that
Jesus Christ did not atone for anyone's sins,
although he was himself sinless (Surah 3:46)
and is one of those who are near to God (Surah
3:45). Positively, the Qur'an says that Jesus
Christ performed miracles (Surah 3:49; 5:110)
and was the Messiah. The Qur'an says Jesus did
not die on a cross. Various Muslim traditions
say that Jesus either miraculously substituted
Judas Iscariot for himself on the cross, or that
God miraculously delivered Him from the hands
of the Romans and Jews before He could be
crucified. Most Muslims believe that Jesus Christ
was taken bodily into heaven without having
died (Surah 4:157). However, Surah 19:33 says
Jesus died and would be resurrected.
Muhammad on the other hand died in his wife
Aisha's home, not long after he was poisoned by
a slave girl. Muhammad's body was lowered
into a hole in Medina, and his dead body was
covered by dirt and brickwork.
It is interesting to compare Jesus and
Muhammad according to the Qur'an. Jesus did
miracles (Surah 3:49; 5:110), but Muhammad
did not (Surah 13:8: "thou art a warner [of
coming divine judgment] only"; also 6:37;
6:109; 17:59 and 17:90-93).
Jesus was sinless (Surah 3:46), but Muhammad
sinned and needed forgiveness (Surah 40:55:
"Ask forgiveness of thy sin"; 42:5: "Ask
forgiveness for those on the Earth"; 47:19: "Ask
forgiveness for thy sin" ; 48:2: "that Allah may
forgive thee of thy sin"wink.
Jesus was called "the Messiah" by Allah in the
Qur'an. And Jesus was even born of a virgin
(Surah 3:45-57)! Yet Muhammad who had 12
wives, 2 concubines, and participated in many
attacks on innocent caravans and villages, and
insisted on 20

This is a welcome development.

Please, does this imply that some charges are going to be scrapped, since this will reduce the cost of clearing goods at our seaports? And which charges are going to be affected specifically?

Religion / Adeboye Meets Israeli Leaders, Seeks Worldpeace by pingu2k5(m): 12:00pm On Sep 04, 2011
WORRIED by continued uncertainty in the
Middle East, the General Overseer of The
Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor
Enoch Adeboye, held two separate meetings
with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin
Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres, last
weekend, where he called for a global
enforcement of the United Nations resolutions
on the advancement of peace.
Speaking with Peres during the meeting, which
was co-ordinated by an arm of the church,
Christ Redeemer Friends Trust (CRFT) based in
London, Adeboye, stated that a global adoption
of the UN resolutions on the culture of peace
would serve as the foundation for the peace
process in the Middle East and in all conflict
areas.
CRFT is a group of professionals from the
Redeemed Christian Church of God parishes
worldwide with concern for global peace,
reconciliation and advocacy and works to
protect and save lives by supporting
communities in emergencies and crises.
Adeboye, at the meetings with both leaders,
said: “A culture of peace is a way to live
together. It requires non-violence, tolerance and
solidarity whilst acknowledging and respecting a
variety of traditions. I have here a list of the
numerous UN resolutions on the culture of
peace which we believe need to be accepted by
the international community, especially the
Quartet as the foundation for the peace process
in the Middle East and in all areas of conflict”.
Describing the incessant crisis in the Middle East
as one that transcends politics, but also a
challenge on academic and religious leaders, the
pastor maintained: “The Middle East conflict is
not only about politics—it is also about religious
and moral values. The only way to solve it is
through education for a culture of peace among
all sides to the conflict. This is the challenge for
religious leaders, academics and political leaders
on all sides of the conflict.”
Adeboye had on June 20, hosted a summit
meeting of religious leaders at the UN to present
an initiative that would give religions, academics
and parliamentarians a voice in the UN.
Sponsored by the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition
for Global Ethics and co-sponsored by the
Mission of Bosnia-Herzegovina to the UN and
CRFT, with the patronage of former Director-
General of UNESCO, Frederico Mayor, who
introduced the “culture of peace” at the UN, the
summit brought together leaders in the
Abrahamic faith groups, to an international mini

One Solitary Life
Nearly two thousand years ago in an
obscure village, a child was born of a
peasant woman. He grew up in another
village where He worked as a carpenter until
He was thirty. Then for three years He
became an itinerant preacher.
This man never went to college or seminary.
He never wrote a book. He never held a
public office. He never had a family nor
owned a home. He never put His foot inside
a big city nor traveled even 200 miles from
His birthplace. And though He never did any
of the things that usually accompany
greatness, throngs of people followed
Him. He had no credentials but Himself.
While He was still young, the tide of public
opinion turned against Him. His followers
ran away. He was turned over to His
enemies and sentenced to death on a cross
between two thieves. While He was dying,
His executioners gambled for the only piece
of property He had on earth – the simple
coat He had worn. His body was laid in a
borrowed grave provided by a
compassionate friend.
But three days later this Man arose from the
dead – living proof that He was, as He had
claimed, the Savior whom God had sent, the
Incarnate Son of God.
Nineteen centuries have come and gone and
today the risen Lord Jesus Christ is the
central figure of the human race. On our
calendars His birth divides history into two
eras. One day of every week is set aside in
remembrance of Him. And our two most
important holidays celebrate His birth and
resurrection. On church steeples around the
world, His cross has become the symbol of
victory over sin and death.
This one Man’s life has furnished the theme
for more songs, books, poems and paintings
than any other person or event in history.
Thousands of colleges, hospitals,
orphanages and other institutions have been
founded in honor of this One who gave His
life for us.
All the armies that ever marched, all the
navies that ever sailed, all the governments
that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned
have not changed the course of history as
much as this One Solitary Life.

Buddha simply said, "I am a
teacher in search of the truth." Jesus said, "I am
the Truth." Confucius said, "I never claimed to be
holy." Jesus said, "Who convicts me of sin?"
Mohammed said, "Unless God throws his cloak of
mercy over me, I have no hope." Jesus said,
"Unless you believe in me, you will die in your
sins." - Anonymous
