I don't know about Vetasses, but Chookudi confirmed that ICAN alone should suffice for Management Accountant, Accountant (General) and External Auditor assessed by CPA (and maybe ICAA/IPA). Whichever occupation you decide to be assessed for, make sure you include your HND qualification. favouredme: |

Was your wife's BSc degree 4 or 5 years? Maybe the syllabus you submitted for the degree made the difference because the 4-year degrees of some guys on this thread were assessed as equivalent to an associate degree. My 5-year degree (not in accounting) was assessed as equivalent to a bachelor degree, and together with my ICAN, I was assessed positively. To get a positive assessment, all your qualifications must be equivalent to at least an Australian bachelor degree and the content of your studies must cover all relevant knowledge areas. Please clarify the above, so that those that have only BSc accounting without any professional qualifications can have hope of getting a positive assessment. chookudi: 1 Like |

You should be fine with either test, though some say it is easier to get desired scores in PTE. Which occupation are you nominating? Is it on the SOL or CSOL? Check with your assessing authority if there is any special requirement for english test. hordunayodt: |

It means they have concluded your health examination and submitted the results electronically. You can confirm the submission here: https://www.emedical.immi.gov.au/eMedUI/eMedicalClient Global health Sydney will review the results and update your application page accordingly. Give it 2-3 days to be updated, like Scrollmeout advised. richnet: 1 Like |

489 is a provisional (temporary) visa that restricts you to live for 4 years in the regional (rural) areas of the state that sponsors you. The visa fee is the same as that of 189/190. I'll advise you prepare and try PTE again before opting for 489. Trust me, you'll get your desired scores at the next attempt. Goke7: 1 Like |

You are right. External Auditor is on SA's Supplementary Skilled List and to qualify one has to meet one of the following: Be an international graduate of South Australia. Have worked in a skilled occupation in South Australia for the last 12 months. Have an immediate family member permanently residing in South Australia for 12 months or more. Have high points (85 points, including nomination points). Your only option may be NSW if you cannot meet the requirements. ACT, Tasmania require employment offers. Did you find out from ICAA if you could use IELTS General for assessment? debsty: |

@living outside the capital city: you can answer yes or no. Your answer will not affect your visa condition. States may look more favorably at your application if you answer yes. @selecting 2 states at the same time: some states, particularly SA, want you to be specific when choosing your preferred state. If you meet SA requirements and SA is sending invites now, you should select only SA. aolatunde00: |

It appears the occupation ceiling has been reached for External Auditors for this financial year, except there is an error on the skill select page (link below). What this means is that no further invites to apply for 189 visa will be sent for this occupation till maybe July 2016. Occupation ceiling does not affect 190 visa. I will advise you update your EOI to include 190. You can use one EOI to show interest for 189 and 190. When updating your EOI for 190, you will see the option to select the state you want sponsorship from. You will also see the option of "any state" for sponsorship. I read somewhere that states give preference to those that specifically chose them ahead of those that selected "any state" in their EOI. For NSW, that is all you need to do. NSW will send you an invite to apply for sponsorship via email. Once the application is approved, you will automatically get an invite to apply for 190 visa. Check second link below for the requirements of the various states. https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Empl/skillselect http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/State-Migration-Plans aolatunde00: 1 Like |

Since you're using ICAA, check the english language requirements in the link below: http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au/The-Institute/Migration-assessment/How-to-Apply/Skills-assessment/English-language-requirement As per the work experience, they start counting it from when you successfully completed the core knowledge areas. Check the link below: http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au/The-Institute/Migration-assessment/Changes-to-Migration-Assessments.aspx I will suggest you make enquiries from ICAA before sending your application. Send them an email. The requirements of all the assessing bodies are similar. debsty: |

Hi Debsty, I doubt if you will be given points for your work experience pre-ICAN. You can only find out by applying for assessment with one of the assessing bodies. Package your documents well and include your BSc syllabus (if your BSc is in accounting) and ICAN syllabus. Difference between 190 and 189 is that you get extra 5 points from the state sponsoring you for 190 and you will in return live in the state for the first two years of your stay in Oz. You need every points you can get as competition is high for accountants. The earlier you start the process the better for you. Since you're 32 already, you may lose 5 points for any further delay. Also, you need to wrtie IELTS academic not general or the academic module of any other accepted english test (TOEFL, PTE); this is one of the requirements of the assessing bodies. I wish you all the best. debsty: |
