It is not only about the medal. There were too many controversies surrounding Team Nigeria and our sport officials in Paris. Take for instance the silly mistake that led to the omission of a female athlete from 100m race. There was also this useless & unnecessary fracas between sports ministry and NOC over kits for athletes.
.. even one of our athletes (a cyclist) had to borrow from the German team to compete. What could be worse than these?

It's clear our sports federations need correct reforms..seems many heading these Federations no really understand their job..they are just there to chop and believe insha'Allah in competitions to win...e no dey work that way..

Some will say Basketball tried because of D'Tigress outing...that will be terrible lie attributing the success of those ladies to the Federation, considering what we read about their planning and logistics..so, its more of the ladies determination to do their thing for themselves.

Going forward, we can pick positives from the way Minister of Sports responded to issues...he has been very active.

He will need to keep up this energy and touchlight all these Federations to ensure they do the right thing at the right time. For example, Athletes training allowances should be paid as at when due , so they can use it for Training..and not when they have reached competition

He has a lot to do...and the recent flashes shows the Minister can actually do it..if he wants to. He should give us good, efficient sports federations.

On the radio a few weeks back, I listened to an interview session which a sports official was the guest. He was asked to rate Tinubu's performance on a scale of 1 to 10. He said 6 because, according to him, Tinubu paid all the debts the federation owed. That's some tangible efforts, a step in the right direction if you ask me.

I'm not an APC fan, I don't belong to any political party, I just like to be objective. There's corruption everywhere. Many of the officials are corrupt. There's nothing like due diligence in Nigeria. People don't have conscience and they're ever so inconsiderate. Even if Tinubu wanted to do right by the people, he can't be at many places at once. We need to have institutions that work independently of whoever is heading them. There should be standard practices that can't be compromised no matter whose ox is gored. That's when you and I will have a Nigeria of our dream. The average Nigeria is not straight, he wants to rip you and run you street....is Tinubu living inside everybody? No na!
