Politics / Jonathan Blast Apc-''you Can Win By Propaganda, you Cant Govern With It'' by planetzoom: 8:19pm On Feb 16, 2018
Jonathan Taunts APC: Propaganda May Help You Win Election, You Can’t Govern With It.

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying even if a party wins through propaganda, it can not govern with it.

Speaking when he received leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital, on Friday, Jonathan said the APC had failed to fulfil its promise to Nigerians.

He also charged the PDP to work towards ending the reign of the APC in 2019.

“I believe that PDP will return to power in 2019 if we continue to build confidence especially as the ruling party has failed to meet up their promises and give hope to the people,” he said.

“Propaganda may help you win elections but can’t help you govern and that is what APC has seen in the last 32 months.”

He also expressed support for the amendment of the sequence of 2019 elections.

On Wednesday, the senate adopted the amended timetable for the elections after the house of representatives changed the order.

This created a rancour, with some APC senator saying President Muhammadu Buhari might be the target.

But Jonathan advised the APC to see it as a “patriotic act”.

“Holding presidential election first will affect the quality of persons that will emerge in other polls because of the bandwagon effect,” Jonathan said.

“The ruling party the APC should see it from national and patriotic interests since laws are not meant for persons in power at a particular time.”

Earlier, Uche Secondus, chairman of the PDP, told Jonathan that the leadership of the party is working to rebrand with the aim of regaining power in 2019.

PRESIDENT BUHARI CONDEMNS ZAMFARA KILLINGS; DIRECTS ARREST OF PERPETRATORS

President Muhammadu Buhari strongly condemns Thursday’s massacre of innocent persons in Birane village, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The President commiserates with families of victims of the heinous and inhuman attacks on defenceless citizens which left many injured.

President Buhari directs the Minister of Defence, Brigadier-General Mansur Dan Ali (Rtd) to proceed immediately to the state to undertake an on-the-spot assessment of the situation and report back.

In addition, he directs security agencies to immediately mobilise and deploy their members to the vulnerable areas of the state, and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to face the full wrath of the law.

The President assures the Zamfara State government, victims of the mayhem and residents in the state, that the Federal Government will continue do all it takes to support security agencies to secure lives and property, not only in the affected state but all parts of the country.

President Buhari restates his administration’s determination to put an end to the spate of senseless spilling of innocent blood in parts of the country, and calls for restraint to allow the nation’s security apparatus to stem the undesirable trend.

The President prays that almighty God will receive the souls of the departed, and comfort their families.

Politics / Reordering Inec Timetable, what The Constitution Says. by planetzoom: 10:13pm On Feb 15, 2018
Reordering of elections by National Assembly

punchng.com | Feb 14, 2018

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu

Let me begin by saying that the National Assembly itself is established by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended. Section 47 of the Constitution provides that, “There shall be a National Assembly for the Federation which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives”. This provision of the constitution shows clearly that the National Assembly itself is a creature of the constitution. The constitution, which is the ground-norm of all other laws in the land including any Act made by the National Assembly, also provides for legislative powers exercisable by the same National Assembly. Section 4(1) of the Constitution provides that “The Legislative powers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be vested in a National Assembly for the Federation which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives… for the peace, order and good Government of the Federation or any part thereof”… Suffice it to say that the National Assembly also derives its legislative powers from the same constitution. Now, Section 1(1) of the constitution provides that: “This Constitution is supreme and its provisions shall have binding force on all authorities and persons throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Section 1(3) provides that “If any other law (this time, Electoral Act) is inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution, this Constitution shall prevail, and that law shall to the extent of the inconsistency be void”.

Therefore, I hereby opine that the effect of Section 1(1) and Section 1(3) is that the Constitution has a binding force either on the National Assembly as an Authority or senators and members of House of Reps as individual persons.

Section 153(1)(f) of the Constitution provides for the establishment of the Independent National Electoral Commission just as Section 47 of the Constitution as herein above mentioned, provides for the establishment of National Assembly. The composition and powers of INEC are as contained in Part 1 of the Third Schedule of this Constitution.

For the purpose of this piece, Paragraph 15(a) which provides that: “The Commission (INEC) shall have power to Organise, Undertake and Supervise all elections to the offices of the President and Vice President, Governor and Deputy Governor of a state and to the membership of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly of each State of the Federation”.

I therefore, humbly opine that the effect of Section 153 (1) (f) of the Constitution and paragraph 15 of Part 1 of the Third Schedule to the Constitution is that the INEC shall even conduct elections in the order stated in the constitution, that is, from President to Governor and finally or lastly membership of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly of each state of the Federation. Alternatively, since the commission shall have power to organise, undertake and supervise all elections to the offices of the President and Vice President, Governor and Deputy Governor of a state and to the membership of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly of each state of the federation, and the literary meaning of the word, “Organise”, simply means arrange systematically, order.

Therefore, the constitution by virtue of these provisions has given the commission (INEC) power to arrange systematically or order elections as it deems fit and necessary without any input from the National Assembly or the executives. And so far, Section 1(3) of the Constitution says, “If any other law (this time, Electoral Act) is inconsistent with the provisions of the constitution, this constitution shall prevail and that other law shall to the extent of inconsistency be void.”

I dare submit therefore that the part of the amendment to the Electoral Act touching on the reorder of elections is void ab initio. Since it is in conflict with the power constitutionally given to the commission, I hereby urge the members of the National Assembly to stop unnecessarily heating up the polity. Similarly, I urge the National Independent Electoral Commission to challenge this unconstitutional amendment to the Electoral Act in a competent court of jurisdiction. The rule of law is the bedrock of democracy.

Politics / My Response To Buharis No Corruption Profile Presently Being Circulated. by planetzoom: 12:20pm On Feb 15, 2018
Muhammadu Buhari's No Corruption Profile And My Response.

1] No private jets.
Chidi Cali's RESPONSE: No Nigerian former leader has Private Jet. This is a No Brainer.

2] No oil blocs.
MY RESPONSE: Buhari have Oil Blocks by Proxy and as Oil Minister and the president have awarded Oil Contracted worth over $48b including the $26b NNPC illegal Contract he signed for Baru. All NNPC's contracts are channelled through his relatives and friends.

3] No industrial-scale farms.:
MY RESPONSE: Buhari Have farms running into hectares and Rach that have expanded since he assumed office. The picture of his starving Cows in 2015 is not the same in 2018, as he used Nigerian Money to import Brazilian Grass for them. This is another height of Corruption.

4] No private Universities.:
Chidi Cali's RESPONSE: Buhari does not value education and even as a Military Governor, Oil Minister, Head Office, there was no Nursery school to his name. You can't give what you don't have.

5] No banks.:
MY RESPONSE: Buhari was indicted by the Senate in 1983 for stealing $2.8billion in 1978, money was traced to his Midland Bank (Natwest) account in London. Today's value through actuarial computation and if invested in a business is over $1.2trillion. This is about 50 years Nigeria's budget. At N7.29trn ($23.97b) 2017 budget. This is bigger than the asset base of all Banks in Africa.

6] No Airline.
MY RESPONSE: The Recession Buhari caused between 1984-1985 contracted the economy and killed Nigeria Airways and over 2,800 companies. No former Nigerian leader have Airline. Another pointless achievement.

7] No Foreign Bank Accounts.
MY RESPONSE: A man that was indicted for stealing $2.8b in 1978 and disbursed it later, may be seen as one of the unpublished richest Nigerian. He has Children in UK elite Universities, there is no record of Buhari transferring funds to their Universities from Nigeria. He has Bank accounts overseas and majority via proxy.

8] No Offshore Assets.
MY RESPONSE: There is nothing $2.8billion cannot buy overseas. Buhari racked PTF through his relative, the Owners of Afri-Project. The stolen funds are not in Nigerian Banks.

9] No Stains.
Chidi Cali's RESPONSE: Buhari's governance profile is dirty, as stain is an understatement. Elected with stolen Money from State governors, from Kyari scandals to Baru's $26b illegal contract, Bachair's grasscutting, TSA paying N25b daily to individuals, pension thief, Maina, NNPC Contracts taken over by his friends and relatives, IkoyiGate, Jamb and snakes swallowing Funds, His Govt supporting Herdsmen that wage war against Nigerians, His releasing Boko Haram members without prosecution and paying them compensation, others recruited into our security agencies, thereby putting our men and women in uniform in harm ways.
WHAT IS NOT BAD ABOUT BUHARI, IF I MAY ASK?

10] No Corruption Scandals.
MY RESPONSE: As in No 9. Buhari is Corruption, Corruption is Buhari. There is no day Buhari and his men are not reported to have stolen from our Treasury. The Level of FOREX racketeering under Buhari has NEVER being recorded in history anywhere in the world, thereby crashing the Naira from N178/$1 in 2015 to N365/$1.

BUHARI HAS ONE PART OF HONOUR LEFT FOR HIM.
HE SHOULD RESIGN LIKE MUGABE AND ZUMA AND APOLOGISE TO OVER 9MILLION NIGERIANS THAT LOST THEIR JOBS IN THE LAST 20 MONTHS AND MILLIONS OF BUSINESSES THAT COLLAPSE BECAUSE OF HIS 'ADAM' AND 'EVE' ECONOMIC POLICIES.
HE SHOULD ALSO APOLOGISE TO INNOCENT PRO-INDEPENDENCE GROUPS, OPPONENTS AND OTHERS KILLED OR DISPLACED BY HIS FOLKS, THE FULANI HERDSMEN.

RESIGN Buhari, Nigeria's Most Corrupt Leader, RESIGN NOW & SAVE THE COUNTRY. -

Police: Shots fired at Florida high school
(CNN)The Broward County Sheriff's Office in Florida is responding to reports of a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

The shooter is still at large, the sheriff's office said on Twitter.

Aerial footage from WSVN showed a number of people lying on the ground outside the school, being treated for injuries and moved to ambulances. As students streamed away from the school, some ran while others walked quickly in orderly lines with their hands on or above their heads.

Lissette Rozenblat told CNN that her daughter safely evacuated the school and was taking shelter at a nearby Walmart.
"She was very nervous, she said that she could hear the person who was shot crying out for help, and was just a nervous wreck," Rozenblat said.

5 Great Nigerian Ads of Post-Millennium Years and Agencies Behind them
In the last decade and half of the advertising rebirth in Nigeria engineered by the telecom revolution of the early 2000, some TV commercials have been adjudged great by both consumers and analysts because they met the basic parameters of a good advertising.
According to experts, a good advertising must; have attention value, be memorable (unforgettable), creative (innovative) and must connect the target with the intended message( intended results). It is about emotional connection with target.
As Kevin Roberts of the Lovemark’ s fame would admonish, “Emotional connections with consumers have to be at the foundation of all our cool marketing moves and innovative tactics.”
Here, we serve you five of best out- of-box creations since the turn of the millennium and agencies behind them:

MTN’s Mama na Boy(SO&U)
MTN’s Mama na Boy was considered a ‘creative disruption,’ because a departure from what was going as advertisement at the time it was launched in 2004. The TVC has been described variously as ‘unprecedented,’ ‘sensational,’ and ‘controversial.’
The last of the adjectives came from hundreds of kicks it got from gender activists who felt it reinforced the societal gender discrimination against the girl-child. However, both critics and consumers agreed it was a ‘bomb.’
In the TV commercial, a city-based young man calls his mother who lives in the typical Niger-Delta village setting on his mobile phone to announce that his wife has been delivered of a baby boy, “ Mama na Boy’ was the crisp announcement that sent the mother and the entire village into an ecstasy of joy and dancing.
Coming at a time when the sleepy advertising industry was bouncing back from limbo, the ad generated a lot of excitement by using local nuances to pass a global message of how communication via MTN is breaking barrier that distance poses to connecting people far and near.
Although, critics had their way and the ‘offensive’ commercial was yanked off the air, it has remained a reference point in Nigeria’s recent advertising history.
MTN’s Mama na Boy advert was produced by SO & U, a first-rated advertising agency headed by advertising veteran, Udeme Ufot. The over 23-year old agency which at the time the campaign was produced enjoyed global affiliation of an international agency, Saatchi & Saatchi, has produced other outstanding ads such as Malta Guinness’
Let’s Go there, Street Dance and Guinness’ Udeme.

1. Indomie’s Mum Like No Other( Noah’s Ark)
“Mum like no other” better known as Mama Do Good is a classic whose popularity transcends its primary target –children- to include mothers because of its central message of espousing a mother’s love for her children.
The Indomie’s Mum Like No Other advert starts with a very beautiful mother in the market shopping for Indomie. She gets home & quickly cooks the noodles for the seven children who are already showing signs of hunger. She finally serves them and that brings smiles and some mischief. Two of the kids are shown conspiring without talking. Thirty minutes after, shown by a fast moving minute hand on their clock, the lady comes back home to meet a very quiet house.
She wonders where everyone went to till the kids suddenly appear from where they were hiding behind the two sofas in the house and starts dancing around the woman to the tune of Mama, you do good o! You do good. Mama, wey cook for us, you too much. E give us Indomie…” The advert ends with all the kids giving the woman a group hug.
The most striking thing about
Mum Like No Other is the effective use of non-verbal communication. Apart from the song and the tag-line, the whole commercial was rendered in non-verbal communication. The kids showed hunger while they were waiting for the food and joy was written all over their faces when the food was ready. The two conspirators showed the viewers that they were up to something and ’ mama do good’ clearly asked “where is everybody?” when she got back. The innocent bum-shaking dance by the small children however, was the high point of the advert.
Children jumped to their feet to sing, dance and wriggle their waist alongside their peers in the TVC any time the advert created by then budding Noah’s Ark played on
air.
“I like the advert but my children love it. They can sing it from their sleep,” said a housewife, Mrs Femi Lawal, while stressing on the popularity of the advert with children and mothers. Although the campaign has been replaced by another also by Noah’s Ark, Mama do good remains ad like no other in the noodle category.

3.Guinness- Udeme ( SO&U)
The Guinness’ Udeme advert is one of the most popular adverts of the last decade. ‘Udeme’, another master production from the creative powerhouse, S.O & U,(remember Mike Power ad?), generated a lot of excitement in 2013 when it was launched such that “My friend, Udeme” became a greeting code for ‘real men’ and a show of comradeship amongst bar patrons.
The TVC opens with a shot of the back of a broad- shouldered young man walking through the street then pans to an old man who tells the story of the young man and his dream to greatness.
“My friend, Udeme, is a great man. When he was a boy, his teacher asked him what he dreamt of work.
‘There,” the old man continued, raising his mouth skyward to show the transformation from a dream to a reality as a shot of an airplane cruising the sky with Udeme as pilot, follows. Udeme winds up his day as a pilot with a time out at the bar over bottles of Guinness Stout with his drinking pals. Then the old man who announces once again that “My friend Udeme, is a great man signs off with, “There is a drop of greatness in every man.”
The Udeme ad was the topic of discussions on the social media and received rave reviews from analysts. Its popularity stretched beyond the black beer drinkers to women and other non-alcohol drinkers who weaved myths and funny stories around ‘Udeme’ which incidentally is the name of the agency’s helmsman and the former Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners council of Nigeria(APCON), Udeme Ufot.
Although, some associates knocked Ufot for ‘using Guinness to promote himself’ in he commercial, he revealed in an interview with Business Hallmark that he was not in the known and even contested the choice of his name in the TVC when he found out.
His words: “I didn’t choose the name. I got to know about the name at the last stage of the production. I protested when I learnt that was the name that was going to be used. That evening I called the Account Director and I said that I heard that you agreed that you are going to use my name for the commercial. You people are going to embarrass me. He said that everybody on the agency side from Cape Town to London has signed off on this name. We knew if we told you, you would say, ‘No’. That was why we did it behind your back’,” Ufot recalled.
Although, not shot in Nigeria, the TVC resonates with the Nigerian spirit of sharing successful moments and drinks with friends and family and remains a reference point till date.

4. Always’ No check, No stain
(Rosabel)
Amongst teenage girls, the No check, No Stain TV campaign is a danceable number that gingers them to go for Always Sanitary pad if they must get an 8-hour protection against stain and save themselves the discomfort of having to keep ‘checking’during their monthly flow.
The TVC was launched in 2009 by the mother brand, Procter and Gamble for its African market. However, the Nigerian version was produced by Rosabel, a foremost second generation agency founded in 1978. An affiliate of the Leo Burnett global network of agencies, Rosabel is a leading agency which harvests awards like oranges every year at the annual LAIF(Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival)Awards. Some of the memorable ads from the agency include First Bank o, Una do well o! MKO’s Hope 93 and of course, No check, No Stain which some of the TVC ‘s enthusiasts on its Facebook page described the advert in the superlatives. Okoro Susan Chinedu says, “ Kudos to Procter and Gamble, The advert is the bomb.”
Teen girls and women loved the commercial and said as much. “This is wonderful. I love it. It reminded me about my Secondary,” says Adejumo Temitope.
“Yeah, Always rock remarks Candy Osama Ogbebor. Mary Osinubi says, “The advert is just too cool. I hope it is going to be among the nominations for the best adverts.”

5. MTN’s I don port(DDB Lagos)
When Saka (Afeez Aiyetoro) announced “I Don Port,” in a TVC during the mobile portability season engineered by Nigerian Communication Commission, the integrated marketing communication landscape literally caught fire. The TVC garnered 100,000 in the first week of its release. Saka who until that announcement modeled for Etisalat adverts jumped ship to MTN as an ambassador with a most dramatic blow that caught Etisalat on the jaw.
According to advertising expert, Udeme Ufot, Etisalat built Brand Saka while MTN harvested the dividend.
“I can say for certain that MTN in their short portability campaign, got more value from the character, Saka, than Etisalat got from many months of campaigns. The sad case of Saka for Etisalat is that they simply invested several millions of naira in building a bomb (that wasn’t much value to their brand equity) that MTN detonated masterfully in their face. Etisalat made the investment in building Saka, MTN reaped the dividend,” Ufot concluded.
Of course, Etisalat through its then CEO, Steve Evans regretted that ‘mistake’ however, the agency behind the masterstroke, DDB Lagos, a foremost agency led by Enyi Odigbo got the glory for the uppercut. DDB Lagos is a multiple award-winning agency that has both local and international laurels in its kitty. For instance, the agency won the Loeries Silver award in the print communication category for the landmark ‘Speechless’ Advert for Girl hub/Nike Foundation. It’s Saka TVC won it both Best Telecom Advertising Agency of the Year and The Best Telecom Advert of the Year at the Nigerian Telecom Awards in 2013.
Winning awards runs in DDB’s blood. In 2013 LAIF Awards, the agency grabbed 19 awards (9 silver and 10 bronze.)

Politics / Re: Dan Ali's Counter Narrative.by Femi Adeshina(a Must Read) by planetzoom: 8:25pm On Feb 08, 2018
Re: Dan-Ali's counter-narrative

By FEMI ADESINA

Nobody can deny that Nigeria has serious problem on her hands, as constituted by crises between herdsmen and farmers in different parts of the country. Lives are being taken wantonly, sorrow, tears and blood visited on many homes, and dread descending on towns and communities. It is a national emergency, which is being responded to by the concerned authorities.

But last week on this platform (Back Page, Daily Sun), Dr Amanze Obi came with a piece that was riddled with inexactitudes, and sweeping generalizations. And that is the reason for this rejoinder, lest the reading public be force-fed with an unwholesome meal, which may cause indigestion, or worse still, food poisoning.

Crises such as we contend with must be interrogated from all perspectives. What are the root causes? What has made it intractable, transcending many administrations? What are the likely solutions, that will bring enduring amity?

That is the prism from which we should view the opinion of the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, when he proffered that the extant carnage was caused by the overtaking of former cattle grazing routes by development, and the enactment of anti-open grazing laws by some states. It was at best a contribution to the ongoing debate, and a search for enduring solution. It was by no means the gospel, or the laws of Medes and Persia, which are immutable. But to Dr Obi, the opinion by the Minister, "placed the stamp of approval on the massacre on behalf of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari." How far from the truth.

Which sensible democratic government anywhere in the world would approve the massacre of its own people? Definitely, not this one led by President Buhari, which I know derived its legitimacy from the overwhelming mandate of the people. And not a government, which seeks to do justice to all the people, whether they are ethnic majority or minority. No matter the unjust labels being stamped on the administration by people who remain marooned in pre-2015 elections mode, this is one government that is doing well for Nigeria and Nigerians, and if only people would purge themselves of long held biases, they would then see better. "I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles on my way," sang Ken Lazarus. But some Nigerians who choose to be soused in primordial prejudices won't be able to see clearly. Not possible.

Dr Obi talked of the "business and expansionist interest of the Fulani." That is a major cause of the problem in the country. Suspicion of one ethnic group by the other. What are the details of that expansionist interest, if it exists beyond the fecund imagination of those who harbour the suspicion? To the best of my knowledge, Fulanis are in the minority, even in most states of the north, except in places like Adamawa and Gombe. They only constitute the ruling elite in some other states, due to conquests during the era of jihad. So, how can the so-called "expansionist interest" succeed today, except in the imagination of those in the throes and gall of perpetual suspicion? That is why it remains difficult for Nigeria to be forged into a nation-state, 57 years after flag independence. Too much suspicion.

Again, Obi posited that "Buhari's security agencies, peopled almost exclusively by the Fulani, are not perturbed by the national outrage over Benue." True? False. We need to know our country more. How many Fulanis do we have in the leadership of the security agencies? Maybe one or two. The National Security Adviser is Kanuri. The Chief of Army Staff is a Borno minority. The Inspector General of Police is a Nupe man from Niger State. Same for the Comptroller-General of the Civil Defence. DG, State Security Services is not Fulani. Nor the Chief of Defence Staff , or the Chief of Naval Staff. The new DG of the National Intelligence Agency is not Fulani. So, where are the Fulanis, who according to the columnist, are exclusively in charge of the security agencies? Facts are stubborn things, but the assertion by Dr Obi is by no means factual. He calls the Defence Minister, Dan-Ali, a "dyed-in-the-wool Fulani irredentist who places trade over and above human life." Dan-Ali a Fulani? The Hausa man from Zamfara State must be wondering when he got 'born again' to Fulani parents.

See this again: "Their principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, was the first to endorse the Benue massacre. He did so through his actions and inactions. His silence in the face of the killings was very suggestive. His refusal to visit Benue and see things for himself was much more so. It spoke volumes."

The columnist has a right to his opinion. But was he right? Don't think so. The very day the killings in Benue took place, the President condemned it in strong terms, and directed the security agencies not only to move in, but to also arrest the perpetrators, and bring them to justice. As at yesterday, the police disclosed that 145 people had been arrested, and 120 being prosecuted. In a letter to the Senate made public last week, the President also detailed all the other steps taken. In Nasarawa on Tuesday, he equally reiterated his earlier directive that any herdsman found with illegal weapon be arrested, and prosecuted. But to perpetually suspicious people, all these were not enough. The President is Fulani, so he must be in cahoots with violent herdsmen. How unkind!

And talking of visits, in the latter part of last year, there were massive killings in Mambilla, Taraba State, in Numan, Adamawa State, in Zamfara, in southern part of Kaduna, and Omoku, in Rivers State. The loss of one soul is bad enough, particularly when done in cold blood. But where does the President start from? He sympathized with all those who lost loved ones. Nobody can call that 'inaction,' except when mischief is involved.

"President Buhari's silent sentiments were shared by Fulani governors, led by Mallam Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and Alhaji Kashim Shettima of Borno State..." Haba! Dr Obi seems to be paranoid about the Fulani. Kashim Shettima, a Fulani? These things must have a limit.

Let me repeat what I've said before. The killings by herdsmen should never be brooked by any government. And this administration is working for an enduring solution. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo heads a committee of nine governors saddled with that responsibility. “Do Not Revenge Herdsmen Attacks” – President Buhari Tells Nigerians

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday warned Nigerians not to revenge attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Buhari, stated this while commissioning Comprehensive Special School, Lafia, Nasarawa State.

While condemning the attacks on Nigerians by herdsmen, Mr. Buhari noted that his administration would not tolerate the barbaric acts.

He added that the federal government was working hard to ensure that peace and stability returned to the North Central region which is mostly the recipient of the deadly attacks.

“I also want to assure the people of the north central and indeed all Nigerians that the federal government is working day night to ensure peace and stability returns.

“We have deployed additional resources to all the affected areas to maintain law and order.

“The attacks by suspected herdsmen and other bandits will not be tolerated.

“I appeal to all Nigerians to refrain from reprisal attacks. The security agencies have standing order to arrest and prosecute any and all persons found with illegal arms

“I will once again express my condolences and sympathy to all the affected victims of these barbaric acts,” he added.

Relocate To Kano, Gov Ganduje Tells Herdsmen

The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Sunday called on all Fulani herdsmen in some parts of the country , especially in Benue and Taraba states, to relocate to Kano State.

Ganduje said Kano State had “vast grazing land ” to accommodate herdsmen and their cattle.

The governor stated this during the monitoring of the state ’ s “free vaccination of over one million cattle and other small animals ” at Kadawa Artificial Insemination Centre in the Garum Malam Local Government Area of the state .

The exercise titled, ‘ Towards Conservation of Livestock Resource and Animal Protein for Citizens of Kano , ’ was part of activities marking the 2017 / 2018 livestock vaccination programme .

Ganduje, who condemned the “recent killings during the clashes between farmers and herdsmen , ” said they were unacceptable .

The governor said the vaccination was initiated to keep animals healthy and improve the economy of the state .

He said as part of the government’ s commitment to encouraging herdsmen in the state , Kano State Government had been providing facilities that would accommodate the herdsmen and their cattle to discourage them from moving to other states in search of grazing land .

Ganduje said, “Fulani herdsmen of Kano origin do not move out of Kano to other states because we have enough grazing land , ranches and traditional stock route . They don ’ t have any reason to move out of the state . We take care of them and we accord them the respect and dignity they deserve .

“I am inviting herdsmen from all parts of Nigeria to relocate to Kano because we have enough facilities to accommodate them. We have grazing land in Rogo, Gaya, Kura, Tudun Wada , Ungogo and other places, where facilities have been provided to accommodate the herdsmen and their cattle. ”

The governor added that his administration was already in collaboration with the Federal Government and foreign agencies to convert the Falgore Game Reserve into a modern grazing land .

“Falgore Game Reserve can take care of millions of herdsmen and their cattle in Nigeria. The location has been designed to accommodate schools , human and animal clinics , markets , recreational centres and other social amenities that would provide the herdsmen enough comfort to take care of their animals and transact their business without any hindrance.

“These killings must stop .

We cannot afford to continue to witness these senseless killings in the name of Fulani herdsmen and farmers clash over lack of grazing land when we have a place like the Falgore Game Reserve , which is being underutilised.”

Ganduje also said his administration had embarked on the registration of herdsmen and their cattle to enable the government to take care of them through free vaccination and other incentives.

Save Us From Persecution, IPOB Urges Trump

The Indigenous People of Biafra has alleged that its members in Aba and Port Harcourt are being persecuted and arrested by security agencies since President Donald Trump recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel .

In a statement by IPOB ’ s Media and Publicity Secretary , Emma Powerful , the group complained about the open persecution of its religious group, Shalon Synagogue Church of Israel .

The group said its ordeal began shortly after Trump pronounced Jerusalem as the capital of Israel .

It enjoined Trump and Israel to intervene in the ordeal to save its members from annihilation by the President Muhammadu Buhari - led government.

The statement read , “We, the family members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, worldwide , condemn the ongoing religious persecution , harassment and arrest of IPOB members , especially those of the Shalom Synagogue Church of Israel in Aba, Abia State , last week .

“Since President Trump announced US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel , the wave of arbitrary arrests and persecution of Biafrans that practise Judaism in Aba and Port Harcourt have dramatically increased.

“Nigerian government is setting a very ugly and dangerous precedent. Those arrested for their faith must be released immediately, including all those illegally detained for expressing their legitimately held views that they are better off in Biafra than Nigeria .

Powerful added , “Arresting members of Shalom Christian Church because they are connected to the Jews in Israel is religious discrimination of the worst kind . Every religion has a root and in as much as nobody can deny that Saudi Arabia is the root of Islam , nobody can deny that Israel is the foundation of both Judaism and later Christianity . ”
