plappville: The world most celebrated feast is around the corner, everyone is preparing, houses are decorated, schools and offices, people wear Christmas hats,
Gifs from left and right, Children presurising parents for toys, The market is crowded with so much items and people,
So much advertisement in the TV on Christmas, firdge filled up with much alcohol, Special meal are cook on this great day 25thetc..etc.

But come to think of it, are true Christian ever sat down and ask themselve why Christmas has been this important to the entire world?

No one will eat a food that he/she does not know where it comes from or what ingredients used in cooking that food.
Likewise, Christians that celebrate Christmas would as well want to know the source and root of this world wide great feast.

It may be that it is rooted from the Scripture or that the Apostles or Jesus Mother instructed it? well, only the Scripture can speak for us.
So, i had like Christians that celebrate Christmas to please tell us if they have a knowledge of what they celebrate, or if they
celebrate it without knowing what it means.

So few questions for you:

When was the earliest december 25 (christmas day) marked?

When was it officially made a civic Holiday in the Roman Empire?

Was this before Jesus birth or after?

Did the Apostle or Jesus Mother celebrated it?

You can get your answers from the Scripture or the Catholic Encyclopedia, 1911 edition.

Notes: Ancient Christmas pictures can be posted by anyone. Have fun as we discover Christmas.
How many of you have answered these questions? stop beating the drum.....just give answer from Scripture that rightfully answer these simple questions. I no want *yes▲ or no▼* plz!
Thank you.

alexleo: Pagans cannot celebrate chirst. You are just dancing around the question he asked you. I didnt know you are such a skillful dancer.
Are you joking? Christmas is Pagan celebration for Christ, this is plain and clear. you cannot change it. The church decided to rub Christ with this. All activities and aim are for the glory of SATAN the original god of YULE (Christmas) till today, Some Pagans still continue with the ancient way of doing it. Nothing has changed execpt the name Christmas.

alexleo: Where did the bible instruct african women to perm your hair because its hard to comb. Perming changes your hair from its natural state just like bleaching cream and soap changes the colour of the body from its natural state. Using soap to bath is to remove dirt from your body and its completely different from perming. Yet when the soap or cream begins to bleach you the next thing you do as a child of God is to change to another type of soap or cream. Now you are accusing us of celebrating christ when the bible, according to you, did not instruct us and here you are doing perming that the bible did not instruct you and you claim you follow the scriptures. You dey try no be small.
SOAP BODY CREAM BE IT BLEACHING OR NOT ARE ALL COSMETICS, THE WORLDLY THINGS DID NOT MENTION THEM AS WORLDLY THINGS BUT THE INTERPRETATION OF THE POSTER DID CLASSIFIED THEM AS WORLDLINESS. THE BIBLE SIMPLY TREATS BIRTHDAY ISSUES, I HAVE PRESENTED SCRIPTURES NOT MY WORDS. IT IS LEFT FOR YOU TO JUDGE YOURSELF. «perming ur hair has no worldliness, if you don´t relax it, you have a strong hair, men have no course to do this as they carry short hair. the bible spoke about women hair as thier glory, caring for your natural hair mark no sin to God. you are adding to Gods word. except you prove me wrong by providing no perm/care for ur hair secripture just like i provided verses that proved how negetive birthday is.» You came to this this world with nothing, so if worldliness is misinterpreted as the use of care products, then you haave no reason to use soap. they all have trace of chimic.

Zikkyy: Na wa oh grin if you cannot say yes, on what basis then do you condemn the act of celebrating birthdays. it shows you are not sure, and it's proof your condemnation is not supported by the bible.

One thing i have shown here is that nobody has been able to prove that the act of celebrating Christmas will lead the celebrant to hell. What that means is that if done right (i.e. without the o.rgies and with a true focus on Christ) there are no issues with celebrating the birth
of Christ. The other issue i wanted to resolve is that we should be able to differentiate what activities is actually pagan practice and what activities are not. The fact that an act was performed by a pagan does not make it a
pagan practice. maybe we can still conclude that bit, then am out of here.
You so much love Christmas, i can understand! You ve gotten much Scriptural proves of three negetive events of birthday and none positive, yet you say nothing is wrong in tagging Christ with this? @honeric01 presented some hited OT scriptures, you ignored them. Wetin u want again? Its a thing of chioce, carry on broo!
Christianity Etc › Re: Christians, Can You Trace The History Of Your Feastival......? by plappville(op): 12:59am On Dec 26, 2012
Zikkyy: I was referring to Christ birthday.

Just to add; the scripture did not treat birthday issues.
Tell me say you no see my when i qoute you at 3:15pm? You saw it as long, how do u expect a just yes to ur question? Am i to answer you or the Scripture? See scripture with birthday records...again!

Birthday celebrations are mentioned in the Bible on two or three separate occasions and, in each case, something terrible occurred. I'm sure you did skiped this, i will recontruct it for you to see it clearly. These three accounts bear brief examination.
First ACC is in Genesis. The Egyptian king Pharaoh, celebrated his birthday by executing his chief baker (Gen. 40:1-23).
Note: This was during his birthday party, according to the interpretation God gave to Joseph. As the dream had foretold, the baker was hung at the party.

Second ACC is from the NT, Herod the tetrarch reluctantly ordered the beheading of John the Baptist (Matt. 14:3-11) make sure you notice verse 6: “But when Herod’s birthday was kept…” During the dancing and merry making at his "birthday party", Herod got carried away and eventualy made a promise that he did not want to keep.
As a result, a great servant of God lost his life. (John the Baptist).

I think there is a similar account in the book of Job, these parties were obviously not centered around any
kind of celebration related to God, or Job would not
have worried that his children may ve sinned during

these celebration feasts. He was not exactly sure what
was going on in their minds, but the very celebration of their birthdays triggered great concern in him (see verse:5). Apparently, during the birthday party, God allowed Satan to kill all 10 of Job’s childre through what appears to be a tornado (vs. 6-13, 18-19).

Job 1:4 The Bible says that Job’s seven sons “went and feasted in their houses, "every one his day"; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them”

If you read further in Job chapter 3 you will see a proof that these birthday celebrations displeased God. Because Job spend time cursing every aspect of the day of his birth.
Job words make plain and clear that there is nothing good about the day of a man’s birth.

@Zikkyy, if you think the Pope just woke up one day and said...."YES" as from today Jesus Birthday will be celebrated on 25th december, then you lie!

If you know How far he went before this date was accepted by others of His brethren, you will not be looking for just say "YES OR NO" answer here.

Scripture has to be qouted when discussing Christ. Its not how you wants it, but How God already penned it down. None can change it even if they tempered.

If they had finaly succeeded in changing/modifying Gods word, we will not be here debating on the truth.
Many professing Christians still hold on to the truth.

Thank God for that.

Zikkyy: we did not at any time claim that the disciples celebrated Jesus birthday. and we did not at any time claimed that Jesus instructed his birthday should be celebrated. what is not smart is you not reading our posts.

Since you guys rely on the belief that Christ did not instruct that his birthday be celebrated, can you also prove to us that there is an embargo on the celebration of Christ birthday. what we know is that the scriptures is silent on the matter of birthday.

Some say it is October, but nobody is sure. If it was celebrated in October, would that make you happy then?
You are not after to accept the truth from the Scripture, you are just after keeping your pagan feast.

Merry Yule!

Everyone knows that Yule and “Yuletide” are largely treated as synonyms for Christmas or Christmas time in modern, popular culture. But what precisely is Yule? When people are asked this question, their answers vary, from “the12 days of Christmas” [link to 12th Night article], “the Winter Solstice”, “an old pagan holiday”, to “I don’t really know.” In truth, all of these answers are equally, or at least equally possibly valid, including “we don’t really know.

What is known is that Yule, or “Yuletide” was an ancient winter festival, that was celebrated by the ancient Germanic tribes, and later specifically adopted into the Christian festival of Christmas. Most indication are that it was a specifically religious festival, likely originally associate with death, rebirth and ancestor worship, that easily reaches back into the Bronze Age. An animal sacrifice was likely offered to hasten the coming of spring. Many scholars believe that the principle deity venerated in connection with this ancient holiday during historical times was Odin, in his guise as Jólnir (Old Norse "yule figure"wink, master of the Wild Hunt. Over time, Yule festivals became more celebratory, became associated with feasts, the first drinking of midwinter ale and displays of largesse, particularly gift-giving from master to servant. These customs seem to have had little to do with the original somberness of the cult of the dead, and may have been adapted from exposure to the Roman mid-winter celebrations of Saturnalia.

The word “Yule” itself is a modern rendering of the Old English ġeól or ġeóhol, which is, in turn, related to the Old Norse jól and ýlir. In the old, Germanic lunar calendar, these terms were both associated with an inter-calendar festival and the first month of the year, first appearing in written sources as early as a Gothic calendar from the 4th century, where fruma jiuleis roughly corresponds to the current month of December.

After the Gothic calendar, there is little reference to Yule until the Venerable Bede wrote about the heathen Anglo-Saxon calendar in the mid-8th century. Bede also states that geola was the name of a winter month, corresponding to late December and early January: they began the year with December 25, the day some now celebrate as Christmas. Bede goes on to write that the first day of this month included an all-night religious vigil and celebration to the gods. What is perhaps most notable is his comment that Yule itself had a fixed date of December 25 in the Julian calendar before it was universally accepted as the date for Christmas.

truthislight: the idea of a pegan birth day celebrations is based upon some demonic notions that are not scriptural :

1. Humans are gods.
2. Human worship.
3. Worship/celebrating of the spirit/demon in charge of the specific day that the person was born(by doing this the spirit rejoice with the celebrant and blesses such a celebrant)

^^^
certainly has nothing to do with the servant of God Yahweh.
This is a truth. I have got lots of hates and critics from friends since i rejected the old life style.
It wasn't easy, but i bless God for how He had helped me see the light. I believe Anyone who seek the truth will be set free by the truth.

Even nature spirits were believed to celebrate Yule in the same way as the living and the dead. For example, the holy elder tree had to be given her Yule beer every year. The common folklore about nature spirits tells of them intruding a home at the Yule evening in an attempt to steal the holy drink horns that were originally taken from them. The story might reflect the period of time when Christianity took over the pagan traditions giving, them new Christian names.

Above is a description of Yule from 400 AD. It was carved on a golden drink horn found in Denmark. On the left side one can see the holy boar, a horse and a fish to be sacrificed. The horse would be sacrificed on the Boxing Day. The animals are situated between two octagrams representing Mother Earth. The grains between the man and the horse symbolize the beginning of the new ceremonial year, and the days getting lighter. On the right side the effects of the Yule are to be seen. Nature wakes up from her hibernation and all the animals beget offspring.

CONTINUES.....

Concept of Yule (CHRISTMAS)

The old Yule was the time of many kinds of predictions. One could for example tell one’s lifespan by watching how a candle burned. Sounds of the animals might tell about what would happen next year. Peasants made twelve circles on the ceiling for predicting the next year’s weather. The circles symbolized the twelve Yule days and the twelve months of the year. If the first Yule day was cloudy, the peasant filled the symbol with chalk and it meant that the month of January would be cloudy. These circles were called Yule marks.

The concept of Yule peace is as old as the Yule itself. Originally it began from the Mother’s Night and continued the next twelve plus one days. At that time any crime was a severe sacrilege and was punished with death or outlawedness. Still the Yule was a time of wild games and uncontrolled sexuality, when the normal moral was forgotten. This duty was meant to strengthen the fertility of all living beings. Nowadays, because of the Christian resistance, there is nothing left of these Yule games but kisses under the mistletoe and the Scandinavian pre-Christmas parties (Finnish: pikkujoulu. Swedish: lilla jul. Danish: julefrokost.)

Yule was also a celebration of ancestors. They were present and participating at Yule as much as the living. A table, for example, was set for them with food and drink. As late as the 20th century, food and gifts were brought to the old megalithic tombs on midwinter.
