CareerRe: Are Second Class Lower Graduates Still Relevant In Our Society? by Plutarch: 3:54pm On Sep 08, 2011
2:2 graduates are still very relevant. People should just get off d toga of regret of not graduating with first class or 2.1 n move on with. Good grade may get you a job in a big coy but to be robustly successful in life goes beyond grade.
Dont be upset with d adverts of MNCs u see on d newpapers calling 4 those with 2.1 n above. At d end of d day like 15 to 20 pple r always selected out of more than 5000 or more pple. The meaning of this many pple with 2.1 still roam d street for years.

Just believe in yourself n trust in God.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Your NNPC Interview Experience (EH & GT) by Plutarch: 3:00pm On Sep 08, 2011
lol @ everyone argueing in favour of his d positn he applied for. I want us to remain civil,polite n friendly in our posts. The earthrealm you guyz want to crucify is not GT.

GTs r likely to be d largest in this recruitment even they constitute about 60% of those interviewed. I agree with SilaV that OP should be higher, u must however note that d disciplines advertised for GT spans more than 20 courses ranging from engineering,sciences,social sci to arts n humanities.
I only fervently pray that we r all employed at the end by God's grace
CareerRe: My Conclusion On 1st Class 2.1 And 2.2 by Plutarch: 8:01am On Sep 08, 2011
I personally believe that all should be given d opportunity. However, i feel 4 employers,we have too many applicants 4 very few place. Around 60 000 pple wrote d test for just about 700 space.
By saying only 20% passed nnpc does not mean they want more than 20% so including pple with 2.2 n 3rd class will cause little upset on that list. I still dont believe that 80% failed d test i only think that 80% do not meet d quota. Selection is based on ff xter n as such they hv diff cut of for diff state.

As par 1st n 2.1, u r always more likely(not certainly) to find better candidates among them take it or leave it. They hv proven themselves worthier in opportunity so far given. People with 2.2,i dont think were excluded from doing better eventhough some factors may affect some but who says same factor didnt affect pple with higher grade.
By and large i believe this world is large enough for anyone to prove himself regardless of his grade
CareerRe: Public Sector Vs Private Sector: Which One Is Better To Work? by Plutarch: 7:29am On Sep 08, 2011
They are two different places with totally different experiences,orientations and challenge. They both hv their merits n demerits.

BTW op, i think by saying 'private sector', u r referring to well established companies especially d Multinationals,if u cant get a job in any of them then i would strongly advise u land yourself in the public sector.

Back to topic: if u can get a job in d private sector,i think its better than d public sector. I personally dont like Nigeria's public sector;i can hardly see myself being fulfilled there. Pub sector is a place with little challenges where d only motivation 4 workers is their monthly salary,its a place where laziness n lawless reigns. It is a place where people get promoted as a result of no of years of service rather than productivity. In all these demerits u will also see the merits.

The private sector is not for lazy pple as there is no room 4 redundancy. Be sure that in order to stay productive u will be given all manner of training. Its very tasking working there but its also very rewarding. However,you must be at d top of your game to get employed here u need to be @ d top of your game - the diff between d two worlds starts here.

CareerRe: Nigeria Immigration Salary Scale by Plutarch: 11:54am On Sep 07, 2011
I dont know what position u will be placed with your 15yrs exp. However, i know that a fresh bsc holder will be placed on COMPASS 08 i.e one star with a pay of 127k. With 15yrs work exp n LONG LEG u MAY be given COMPASS 9 or 10 i.e 2 or 3 stars n u can go home with around 150k.
RomanceRe: WHY Do Ppl Expect YOU TO Be In A Relationship Cos They Feel you are Beautiful by Plutarch: 4:57pm On Sep 06, 2011
@op,we still hv smart dudes. Am one. Just kidding but sincerely u need to be more realistic n know that nobody is perfect. Quite a number of academically smart or professionally progessive ladies share this view of yours. I have a handful of them as frnds n i can tell u that they r getting disillusioned.

FamilyRe: Best City To Raise A Family In Nigeria by Plutarch: 9:46pm On Sep 04, 2011
@op,
Sincerely,just b4 i opened thread my mind went 4 Abeokuta. I had my childhood years there and i can say that its many time better than the much hyped lag,abj n ph. Its cheap,u can get solid schools there n d chances of your kid mixing with pple is lower. I laugh out hard @ those living in lagos(esp ones not living in V.I,Ikoyi,lekki,magodo etc) that try to look down on other pple from other place like abk 'cos 90% cant stand some of us. Your income level, locatn within d town,school n yourself will define d orientatn of your kidz if u opt 4 abk.
CareerRe: How Much Should Entry Level Graduates Be Paid In Nigeria? by Plutarch: 11:13am On Sep 03, 2011
@naijababe,
some sense in what u said and i can understand where u r coming from. In Nig only MNCs n some banks take that pain of investing in train especially 4 their grad/mgt trainees. They understand how systems r built to last. Many Nig companies(mostly one-man biz) would rather go 2 d media to lament that grad r unemployable.
CareerRe: How Much Should Entry Level Graduates Be Paid In Nigeria? by Plutarch: 9:29am On Sep 03, 2011
@ajirebi,
i will like u to explain what u mean by "mental training".

As par the quality of Nig. grad,there are very bad ones and there r good ones as well. However,i think this issue of Nig grad is madly -vely exaggerated. Hundreds of thousands of these so-called 'unemployable graduates' are admitted yearly 4 postgrad studies yearly into d so called big varsities yearly with top class results to show at d end. I know like ten of my peeps who finished here n had distinctns at masters level,one @ imperial another in manchester.
Part of d hullabaloo about our grad stems from inferiority complex in see in black pple especially we d Yoruba pple. Education is largely underfunded in Nig but also the noise about our grad is largely exaggerated.
CareerRe: How Much Should Entry Level Graduates Be Paid In Nigeria? by Plutarch: 9:17pm On Sep 02, 2011
80-100 is okay. Difficult to peg. Many factors will determine that. B4 d issue of 18 000 minimum wage the govt's rate was less than 50k for a grad(level 8:2) with d 18k its now more than 60k;i consider this as d national standard. Economy n standard of living of a place is important hence d unending periodic agitatns by labour in d face of inflatn. For 9ja,80 n above is ok i think
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Your NNPC Interview Experience (EH & GT) by Plutarch: 9:26am On Sep 02, 2011
@toun,
When we talk about fed xter,it means that d recruitment will be done in a way that people frm all d 36 states will be well n equally(nearly atimes) represented. The implicatn is that if nnpc is to employ 740,the highest performing 740 will not necessarily be taken. It will have to go down to d state n d highest scoring 20 pple in each state will be taken and as such some1 in d educationally competitive states of SE,SW etc with a score of 85 may not be taken n some1 with 51 in some other places may be taken.

It is used in govt related agencies,companies n parastatals etc like cbn,nnpc,military,paramilitary,firs etc. Surely,it does happen in private coys n MNCs.
FamilyRe: I'm Planning Of Marriage But The Question Is Can 30,000 Salary Sustain Both Of Us by Plutarch: 10:40am On Sep 01, 2011
30k is too small especially when d woman is not working yet. It is even difficult to be earning that low and keep an unemployed wife(beautiful) @ home;your guess is as good as mine. 60k n above will be better if u r living outside lagos,abj n ph.

Dear poster,i will urge you to take things more calmly,i understand that our ladies are always desperate to get married especially ones that r 26 n above. Before u say Jack they would hv started talkn about family introductn. But this same person will insult u when u r not measuring up as a hubby n father.

@uau,u be chairman o. What aspect of IT are u strong at?
@hausawa, u r talking about statistics but am talking about real facts n figures. What i gave is real.

PoliticsRe: Gej Should Resign. Example Of Good Politics is JAPAN by Plutarch: 11:22am On Aug 30, 2011
Resignation is a strange lexicon in Nigeria. How do you expect him to refund people and banks he is owing billions he used 4 elections. Remember that his generation must never be poor again.

BTW, imagine Atiku bcoming d president in d long run and pple clamouring 4 his resignation. He will prefer death.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Your NNPC Interview Experience (EH & GT) by Plutarch: 10:30am On Aug 30, 2011
@fidelism,whatz your course of study? R u a gt?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Your NNPC Interview Experience (EH & GT) by Plutarch: 7:33am On Aug 30, 2011
@fidelism u r quite right. I clearly saw two of my score i was given 4/5 in dressing and 7/10 in another wh i dont know . That 7/10 got me disturbed after d interview 'com i felt that i did my best n considering d quota system u must be high up.

For those think that because everyone smiled outside d venue means that d is somehow should rethink. Inspite of d friendliness of d interview,u hv been objectively graded. If u check d other thread on this nnpc issue,u will see that d interview went exactly as d poster who works there predicted even in terms of the friendliness

@otuwe,do u mean that it will take 3months b4 d medicals will be conducted or that we will wait 4 3months after d medicals b4 resumption. I need a reply bro

lol, @jackpot,u r a very funny guy that belongs 2 d jokes section. R u also a stakeholder in this recruitment or an observer

@all, methink u shld b more patient. The recruiment process/period in some places could be very long. If u had ever tried places like KPMG,NNPC and some banks,u will understand better. Cham pls conducted medicals 4 some folks sometime ago and did not ask them to resume until after more than a year. Keep your hopes high and try engaging yourself in other things after its just about 4 months that d interviews were conducted

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Your NNPC Interview Experience (EH & GT) by Plutarch: 8:23am On Aug 26, 2011
@feez,
Do u mean nothing was jotted down during ur interview? In my own case d chairman was busy. I think that was d case in other panels. I agree that d interview seemed easy 4 everyone but i think they may hv what they r looking at. I just think they tried making every1 comfortable during d intvw n that does not stop thier assessment.

I believe its too late to doubt their objectivity 'cos everyone that got invited that i know got there on merit

CareerRe: 80% Of First Class, Second Class Upper Applicants Failed Nnpc Exam - Gmd by Plutarch: 1:59pm On Aug 16, 2011
@Ajanlekoko,
In as much as rate your views on issues highly, from what u wrote up there i could see that u lack information about NNPC and what it stands for.
As par reforms,NNPC is in dire need of it. That it should totally make way 4 private concerns n multinationals then you need to hit your web browser or get close to pple more informed about it
CareerRe: 80% Of First Class, Second Class Upper Applicants Failed Nnpc Exam - Gmd by Plutarch: 6:54am On Aug 16, 2011
I kinda think that the statistics is exaggerated. I over prepared 4 d test but ironically the test was d cheapest i hv ever seen in my life. I could remember telling a folk that i wont score less than 100% in the maths section; this is how cheap it was. I wrote the IT option and i can tell u that those who studied nothing related to it would still score like 40%.

The GMD's statistics is likely to be wrong n bloated as i dont see any graduate in Nig scoring as low as 20% even if he has a 3rd class.
PoliticsRe: How Igbo Can Become Next President: The Saraki- Tinubu- Ngige Connection by Plutarch: 5:13pm On Aug 12, 2011
In as much as i support igbo presidency,i dont see a chameleon like Saraki winning a single vote 4 that cause in the North. When it come to things like this Bukola can never be seen as a Northerner. BTW,d Northerners will fight tooth n nail to hv d power come 2015;especially with d likes of Atiku
