Culture / Re: Meanings Of Musical Instruments In Your Language by politician(m): 12:49pm On Dec 30, 2013
From the land of Owanbe!

Agbe: a shaker

Ashiko: a cone-shaped drum

Batá drum: a well decorated traditional drum of
many tones, with strong links to the deity Sango olukoso, it produces sharp high tone sounds.

Goje: sort of violin like the sahelian kora

Sekere: a melodic shaker; beads or cowrie shells
beautifully wound around a gourd, shaken, beaten by
fists occasionally and thrown in the air to create a festive mood and incite women to shake their waist.

gudugudu: a smaller, melodic bata

Sakara drum: goatskin istretched over clay ring

Agogô: a high-pitched tone instrument like a "covered"
3-dimensional "tuning fork"

Saworo: like agogo, but its tone is low-pitched
aro: much like a saworo, low-pitched

Seli: a combination of aro, saworo and hand-clapping

Agidigbo, a thumb piano instrument wound round the
neck and stabilized by the player's chest.

Dundun, consisting of iya ilu or gbedu, main or
"mother" drum and omele, smaller drums, played as an
accompaniment to bata drums to create a base for their
sharp beats.

Bembé, bass drum, kettle drum. (see also List of
Caribbean membranophones)

And the self acclaimed, world renowned Gangan-- talking drum!! Its both traditional and spiritual!!

Anytime, we have a family gathering or event and the older women start chanting our oriki!! I empty my pockets straight!! Spray atm sef!!

I told my gurl to go learn it if she is really serious!!

As an african man,I love traditional praise singing!!

My friend just shut up already.... crying huhuhuhuhehehehehuhuhu cant save you and your useless propaganda

i will indulge you with a reply based on the connotation that your moniker corresponds to your level of reasoning.......

I am not trying to weep up sentiment, just telling you the basic fact, some of us know these things better and i think you should read and understand before abusing people.

i am not saying that NGIGE has to win or APC has to claim anambra, just analyzing issues. Why did PDP hail the results immediately just as they did in Ondo state, the national secretariat is not interested in garnering more states, just maintain the status quo for another neighbour-to_neighbor campaign and if that strikes a vein in your head, then i dont owe you an apology..

its a fair political strategy but at the expenses of the electorates...... some dont get to vote and votes get inflated to achieve this aim.

In politics, all is fair, rough play is part of the game. The rule is dont get caught.

If you cant win an election, you rig.

if you cant rig, get someone to rig for you.

i repeat, fair and square.... NGIGE won.

Sentiments gets the better of us sometimes, its excusable but not justifiable... the ostrich effect.

mobilisation of voters.
Securing strongholds and concentration , pilfering of votes and last minute negotiation is now the main issue...

And most importantly, the perfecting of rigging plans, exit routes for snatchers,pre-planned propaganda, activation of financially-induced reporters and INEC officials..

Yes rigging, to a nigerian politician its as important as registration of voters. Even more important than manifesto.

The election is between APC and APGA, the LP and PDP will cancel out by splitting the votes.

The election can swing to any camp, the votes will be spread based on strong points and the man with the largest and most committed supporters will emerge.

Jega can promise us free and fair but we know better..

APGA/LP - RIG

APC --- RIGGER

PDP --- RIGGEST

Infact PDP is the largest party in Africa with the most effective rigging mechanism in the world''

They don't mobilize voters, they mobilize election officials and the police.

APC has the monopoly of intellectual thugs, the newspapers and Nairaland.

APGA and LP have local folks all set to fight for what they believe, money or ethnic values!!

May the wish of the people of anambra emerge!!

I opined thus on saturday, here is a re-joiner..

The election is of more importance to PDP than APGA, the simple aim is to preserve the voting blocs of PDP for 2015, hence all engines must fire to prevent an in-road by APC. With IMO state in the loop, anambra will surely provide the vital cog towards 2015 in the southeast and PDP did what they had to do. prevent APC..... all those shouting APGA this, APGA that should just take time to study the political pattern, it was not about APGA but preserving the 98 percent votes. it all started from the APC merger scuffle.

i opined PDP will rig, they did, i never thought they would not clean their track knowing fully well that APC folks are trouble makers.

the system of disenfranchisement of voters in APC zone, a whooping 80K+ votes cancelled n idemilli shows Ngige won, fair and square...

The poser is " if votes can be cancelled in an APC strong hold, what will have happened in the local governments that APGA won?

Of course, they were heavily rigged... so i really believe that Ngige won and the rigging just went south.

Elections are not won by oppositions, the ruling party loses them............. and PDP was not ready to lose.

maasoap: This is really a fake news.@ op is trying his best to dent the image of apc in tomorrow's election not knowing that ngige is indentable.ngige carry This has nothing to do with Ngige winning or losing today's election. This thread can't determine who wins and who lose. If I'm in Anambra state today, I would definitely vote for Ngige. You don't seem to get the purpose of this thread. Small mind.

As much as I share your concern about the mobilization( that's the word used in APC) of youths to another state, I can not but fault the motive of this thread.

If you have a problem with the electioneering process of a party, you can renounce your membership and opt for a better one.

There is no party that does not mobilize from other states for reasons such as polling booth campaign, crowd-effect and ballot snatching.

Our election in nigeria is a mere ballot-box stuffing exercise and rigging, yes rigging is part of the electoral process.

If you are an active member as you claimed, you will have been briefed that the real -thugs were dressed as normal guys and took public transport, camping in asaba since early november.

You don't know the operation of your party, you only collect rice + ankara every week

So spare us the outcry, you were approached, you didn't cry out, now your friend is caught, you created a thread shouting APC!!

I am not holding brief for APC but I can tell you with all certainty that...

'PDP is the largest party in africa with the most effective rigging mechanism in the world''

They don't mobilize voters, they mobilize election officials.

And they all rig.... May the best rigger win

LP/APGA. --- RIG
APC- ---- RIGGER
PDP. ------- RIGGEST.

Its a bad system, no excuse but elections have to hold and winners have to emerge.

I expect you to join fresh party or those intellectuals-owned party bro.

Ikengawo: Nigerian Capitalism: You have 5000 cows, two people apply to watch over them while you go back to the village to drink pami. One is has a masters degree in agricultural sciences and has run a successful cow farm for 25 years. The other is your brother Akpos, who is rumored to be a child trafficker and ritualist. You hire your brother. While you're in the village jollying your brother sells of your cows and buys a house in South Africa.

very incisive and thought provoking...
500 cows means a country with a lot of resources. Instead of allowing the competent hands , mediocrity and nepotism affected our choices of leaders leading to mass looting and coverting of people's wealth...

The agricultural scientist could have sold some cows (crude oil), buy some bulls ( build. refineries ) and produce more cows while the citizenry enjoy the revenue via public service..

very concise...

Culled from facebook..

Economic Models Explained With Cows

SOCIALISM; You have 2 cows. You give one to your neighbor.

COMMUNISM; You have 2 cows. The State takes both and gives you some milk.

FASCISM; You have 2 cows. The State takes
both and sells you some milk..

NAZISM:You have 2 cows. The government
takes both and shoots you.

BUREAUCRATISM; You have 2 cows. The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other and then throws the milk away.

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM; You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull. Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on the income.

DEMOCRACY: You have 2 cows. Your neighbor has none. You vote people into office who tax your cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay for the tax. The people you voted for take the tax money and buy a cow and give it to
your neighbor. You feel righteous.

AMERICAN CAPITALISM; You have two cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why the cow has dropped dead.

FRENCH CAPITALISM; You have two cows. You go on strike, organize a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows.

A GERMAN CAPITALISM; You have 2 cows. You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month and milk themselves.

A JAPANESE CAPITALISM; You have 2 cows.
You redesign them so they are 1/10 the size of an ordinary cow, and produce the milk of 20 cows. You then create a clever cow cartoon image called cowkimon and market them worldwide.

ITALIAN CAPITALISM; You have two cows, butvyou don’t know where they are. You decide to have lunch.

SWISS CAPITALISM; You have 5,000 cows. None of them belong to you. You charge the owners for storing them.

CHINESE CAPITALISM; You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim thatvyou have full employment and high bovine productivity. You arrest the newsman who
reported the real situation.

RUSSIAN CAPITALISM; You have 2 cows. Youcount them and learn that you have 5 cows. Youvcount them again and learn that you have 42vcows. You count them again and learn that you have 2 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of Vodka.

INDIAN CAPITALISM; You have two cows. You worship them.

BRITISH CAPITALISM; You have two cows. Both are mad.

IRAQI CAPITALISM; Everyone thinks you havevlots of cows. You tell them that you have none.
Nobody believes you, so they bomb the crap out of you and invade your country. You still have no cows but at least you are now a Democracy.

AUSTRALIAN CAPITALISM; You have two cows. Business seems pretty good. You close the office
and go for a few beers to celebrate.

NEW ZEALAND CAPITALISM; You have two
cows. The one on the left looks very attractive.

GREEK CAPITALISM; You have! two cows
borrowed from French and German banks. You eat both of them. The banks call to collect their milk, but you cannot deliver so you call the IMF.
The IMF loans you two cows. You eat both of them. The banks and the IMF call to collect their cows/milk. You are out getting a haircut..

Pls describe the nigerian Model..

Foreign Affairs / Re: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by politician(m): 8:16pm On Jul 03, 2013
Cairo (CNN) -- Egyptian troops deployed
around Cairo and the whereabouts of President
Mohamed Morsy were uncertain late
Wednesday as his supporters said a military
coup was under way.
The state-run Middle East News Agency
reported Wednesday night that leaders of the
country's Muslim and Christian communities
would join military leaders and opposition
figures to lay out an agreement "to exit the
current political crisis." And citing "a senior
official source," the state-run Al-Ahram
newspaper reported Wednesday that Morsy "is
no longer a part of the decision-making circle."
"The president is no longer able to make any
political decisions now and a decision has been
taken to prevent leaders loyal to the current
regime from traveling overseas until the General
Command of the Armed Forces are finished
formulating their expected statement," it added.
The report came shortly after a deadline issued
by the generals to Egypt's first democratically
elected leader expired. At the final hour, Morsy
offered to form an interim coalition government
"that would manage the upcoming
parliamentary electoral process, and the
formation of an independent committee for
constitutional amendments to submit to the
upcoming parliament," Morsy said in a posting
on his Facebook page.

the end is almost here for Morsi

Politics / Re: We Will Give Achebe A Befitting Burial - Southeast Governors by politician(m): 4:50am On Apr 11, 2013
To honor a distingushed and accomplished writer with a grand burial by his kinsmen is a sign of some sanity in. a crazy abode like nigeria (where thieves, looters, power-grabbers cum terrorist are granted clemency, pardon and even paid renumerations)

A man is remembered by the problem he solved and those he created!!

Achebe solved a lot of literary problems,he brought africa, nigeria and igbos to the consciousness of the world...
A genius at his works..

And for the problems he created, they are dwarfed by those he solved..

I had the oppurtunity of attending Ojukwu burial activities-in enugu.

The lecture at Nike lake hotel delivered by prof Dora was more than an euology! The tribute by emeka anyaoku and joop beecroft was succint and thought provoking!!

And the ode by Prof wole soyinka titled
--"Ojukwu my friend"

The south east governors should imprint achebe's name on the sand of time by forwarding a joint request co-signed by the senathieves and legislooters I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ SE to name univ. Of nigeria nsukka after achebe!!

When asked if UI can ever be renamed, prof bamiro(former VC and returning officer to INEC during 2011 election), retorted " its not likely but possible, and it would take an outstanding individual with international recognition to achieve that!!
And who is he alluding to..eni ogun!! WS

That's what the yorubas would do.... If not for anything,to spite igbos!!

Out of the healthy rivalry we misconstrue as bigotry!!

Abi boo ni, awon ore wa, aje okuta maa mu omi!! Ipa ni won fi nji baba won lori ibusun..

Ofen nmmanu people--

-n zik,awo and tafawa voives respectively!!

One nigeria!!

One nijiria

One naijeriya!!

So I am not the only one with a shallow mind incapable of undertanding Afam's deep post? That is sweet comfort grin

Sister, please leave oga afam alone...

Hon sir!!

how is preparations towards your election as the chairman of Enugu south local govt... uwani.

i have told all my folks at agbani road that my oga at the top on nairaland is contesting ooooo.

........traits of PDP candidates! grin as sharp as Jonathan...
Politics / Re: How Did Tinubu Become So Powerful? by politician(m): 8:36pm On Apr 02, 2013
Tinubu saw the lacuna in the power-grabbing structure of Nigeria and explored it!!

1)By retiring the old horses in AG/AD, he paved way for young folks to come to mainstream politics in SW...even obasanjo said it while presenting Gbenga Daniel vs osoba.

2) You can't lead a rebellion and still partake in governance...he understands this rule, hence the godfather mantra..if tinubu should contest for any elective post, he is done for...

3)the principle of meritocracy as against democracy in party candidature is also his strong point.. forget the sharing of rice every week oooo, ACN is the party that gives you a chance based on competency and loyalty..no room for gerontocrats

i remember caravan telling elders in oyo at Drovans that ...... only dogs of this age can chase rabbits of this age...

aye wetie ti lo ooooo.. aye awon omowe ni a wa!!

hence present your sons and daughters that are educated..

And can hardly presents candidates without in-built back up plan, once u don't remit, no second term.

Tinbu matches pdp money for money, thug for thug and rigging for rigging..

he clearly marks his territory and makes his subjects believes that their view thus count..

like DK said, better candidate who has proven their mettle and thus always deliver...bobo fash and now..jimmy boy (yes jimi agbaje, forget all dos banire noise, the blueprint is on already).

finally, jagaban told ganiyu Solomon to forget minority leader and the former governor of benue was given the post to strengthen ACN in north central...that's how he operates..

and he knows his limit, and never forget the streets where majority of the votes come from...

hence he loves slogans...

Jeun soke!!! chop up..

eni to ba bawa jeun soke, a jeun sapo...
if u follow us chop up, u go chop for pocket..
grin

Gba won sonu!!!
pinrin ko si oshi, ara won no oshi wa..

sloganeering for the streets, educated candidates for the elites..
rough politics for the opponents... recipe of a good opposition leader..

though its very irresponsible following myriads of problems facing bayelsan

but dickson might have taken a clue from the senile old man in ebonyi.

there is a department of propaganda and rumour management in the ministry of information always airing yeye advert on salt fm.

and the man that doesn't "give a damn' bestowed an MFR on the grandpa in ebonyi. so the young son-of-a-dick (or wetin dickson mean) can't be wrong too

while trying to garner and rally the anti-obj brigade towards 2015, Get should not throw caution to the wind by sacrificing the goodwill of the people on the platter of political permutations.

Some names on that list is an insult to everyone that has ever criticised corruption and a stamp on the notion that this government fellowship with the looters of our treasury.

the goodwill of the people transcend all these yeye permutations... and that will be so costly towards 2015.
