Romance / Re: 12 Attributes Of A Good Man by popoyeh(m): 12:23am On Sep 20, 2011
@ OP.
Thanks for bringing this up. I have never had a scale to grade my qualities as a man before now and am suprised at how high I scored (that necessarily doesn't make me a perfect man). The numbers 5 & 11 being mooted here are strong scoring points for me because for 5, one of my hobbies is eating (as I dey chop reach, e no dey show for my body) and because I won't like to be held ransome when am hungry, I have since made cooking one of my hobbies, as such I am a fairly good cook. I remember going to my gf's house while in OOU Ago-Iwoye, early in the morning to cook efo-riro for her before she woke up because I was happy with her. As for 11, I am a hopeless romantic. I like expressing my love in diff ways, texting, verbally, writing short notes and putting it where she will find it, strolling, holding hands in the dark, walking silently on the beach, lazing on the couch in each others arms, gazing at each other in silence, buying gifts according to my pocket etc. Nonetheless, am not a perfect guy.

I scored lowest in 10, because inasmuch as am striving hard to achieve my dreams, I am still very far off being contented with my lot in life and I still have a long way to go.

Even with these much good grades, and being two years into my late twenties, I am not in any relationship at the moment and I am seriously NOT searching. Instead, I am going the extra mile to make myself near-perfect as theres probably no perfect man, thereby, I can attract my near-perfect ideal woman.

My kinda woman must be a black sista with the FEAR OF GOD, average height, bust, hips, bac**ss. Must have high I.Q. (dull sistas dulls me), prefarably a A-student. As a feminist who believes in gender equality, successful women are a turnon and as such having a wife I can be proud of and flaunt will give me much joy.

All said, because I am single doesn't mean I am not attractive nor appealing to girls. Rather, I have a hard time repelling their advances. Whilst I may not qualify as a candidate for Mr. Nigeria, I am fair, athletic and fairly handsome to the extent of turning a sizeable number of heads when I walk on the street, enter public places, banks, malls, eateries, etc.

I hereby round off with a special prayer to God to hook me up with the person unto whom I will be perfect and who will be perfect unto me in Jesus' Name. Amen.

$7b investment woulda work in ripples round the whole economy, not just where the factory is located. But since this is a farce, na f-up be dat. The presidency should save us this embarassment, stuffs should be confirmed and well verified before they are spilled to the world.

Travel / Re: Should I Migrate Or Remain In Nigeria? by popoyeh(m): 5:52pm On Aug 21, 2011
EuroMeko:

Based strictly on the information you have provided I give you "my" opinions.

A quick story/joke. Rich American CEO went on vacation to a small fishing village in Mexico to get away from it all and relax. He is lounging there with his other rich buddies watching this "poor" Mexican Fisherman sitting in front of his hamlet watching his kids play while drinking a Corona (beer).

Rich CEO asked him "Fisherman, why aren't you out fishing"
Fisherman "I already went fishing in the morning Senor, I already caught enough fish to feed my family, keep some for tomorrow, and sold a few for money."
Perturbed, the CEO retorted "Man, there are more fishes out there, you can catch more, you can get a fleet of boats, hire more people to fish for you, set up a distribution enterprise"
Fisherman "What for, what can I gain"
CEO "Then you can become rich so you can retire early, move to a paradise and enjoy your life with your children"
Fisherman "I am already relaxed, I am living in a small fishing village that is paradise, you came here after all Senor and I am enjoying my kids - so Senor, I think I am already rich by your definition, Si?"

My short answer, stay in Nigeria. Make it work.

Instead of leaving Nigeria maybe you can think Entrepreneurial and have Mrs. BeeMan80 manage that one while you continue working and growing at your cool job.

I am not going to lie to you and my viewpoint differs from others already on this thread, the US is a beautiful place to live, but it comes at a price. We have social services. There is a team of professional and highly trained medical personel that will rush at breakneck speed to save my life by just dialing 911 on the phone, there's a team of highly trained police officers that will come to my aid 24/7 just by calling them (no brining the Commissioner), so it is relative.

So to close, as Men we have to do what we have to do, but if you really have a cool job in Nigeria as you stated, I would just make it work but your Wife is part of that equation.

Jah Guide.

Word.

@Op. Toe d entrepeneural line, find something you love doing or the Misus, get some training and begin your own biz with the money you intend to use for flight ticket. Either in Naija or anywhere else in d world, as long as you are working for someone else, you 'may' not get ahead.

My advice:-

Start your own biz here in Naija, no matter how small, with diligence, patience and prayers, you will get there. And when you do, you can travel at your pleasure and pace to any country of your choice and definitely not to wash any white man's bum. Cheers.

Big Meat:

This is a good start.

Very good one.
Nonetheless, we shouldn't get hyped up over this until something positive emerges. Lets wait to see their response. If this is successful, then we should poise to witness as skeletons of several years, shut in the cupboards, wardrobes and closets of the high and mighty will begin to become publicized.

the_star:

I am currently in a long distance relationship, i dont mean, in a different city, i mean hes in another continent! I have found over the years that it has it ups and downs, like any other relationship. But mine is mostly on its ups, Maybe thats because of the way i percieve things or the way i feel for him, or maybe im just lucky! I am happy with with my boyfriend and cant wait for the years ahead.

What are your views on long distance loves?
Either the same country but different city, different continent, or even down the road, but still too far for you lazy ones! lol
i'ld like to know your views and ideas,

You speak exactly like my girlfriend would, your description fits my situation perfectly and l also think am extremely lucky. Also, am in Naija, but shes studying in the UK.
One neccessity to make long distance relationship (LDR) work is trust, I completely trust my gf and I also absolutely believe shes the one for me, the answer to my prayer, my very own Pocahontas e.t.c. Knowing I have found the ideal bone of my bones has made it easy for me to say NO to the numerous attention I get from 'seductresses' called Naija girls. What I have missed though is the intimacy of sitting close to my gf and just listen to her talk, while looking deep into her eyes being nonplussed by the perfect beauty she possesses.
Altogether, LDR is good if you can maintain it and it is easily maintained if you trust your partner and believe he/she is custom made for you. It sure makes it easy for me. Cheers.
