read the history of freed slaves brought from Brazil; when slave trade was abolished, most of freed slaves was actually moved back to their roots/ country, in Nigeria most were brought back through the sea to costal town known as badagry today and they settled there and that's why their generations still bears their name. ; most with Portuguese and Latin names, such as the Da Silvas, the Martins, the Pedros; these surnames popular for badagry , na dem be true lagosians, including the aworis that inhabited places like Sango Otta, Isheri, Ikeja, Iyanapaja, Isolo, Iganmu, Ikotun, Iyanoba and so on and the Benin descendants that occupied what is now known as Lagos islands, na dia linage be always King Of Lagos....
how can returne slaves be the true lagosians?

Career / Re: Help Union Bank Unjustly Terminated My Appointment! by poppincash: 3:28pm On Jun 27, 2015
scam. this is what this guy posted last year-

Good morning everyone, I need your candid advice. I got a spring admission last week with a scholarship of 15,500. All glory to God.

However, I am on the verge of loosing that admission because my parent doesn't have fat account to show though that scholarship has covered all expenses, tuition, accomodation, and all. If I will need to add to that scholarship it shouldn't be more than 500-1000Cad. I have no rich uncle or aunt who could pose as my sponsor just to get the visa.

My dad,s financial standing as at when we had family meeting after I broke the goodnews was about 200k but he said he should have an inflow of 3M for a year.My dad spoke about loan but we don't know If he would be granted My mum has only 72,000 though with an inflow of about 1million because she is a thrift collector. I just finished helping my mum draft her request for loan letter from cooperative. She requuested a loan of 300k.And personally, I can raise 500k on my own cos I work . My monthly pay is 30k and I save very well

I want all the experts here to come to my rescue. Do I stand a chance at all or I should just forget about this? I am so confused right now about the financial aspect of this. Somebody help

Travel / Re: Traveling To Mexico General Enquiries by poppincash: 11:05pm On Jun 26, 2015

I want to advice anybody coming from Nigeria for a tourist visit in Mexico to try and obtain an airport transit through european so that they can pass through terminal 1 point of entry in Mexico. They deport almost 90 percent of Nigerian from terminal 2, which includes people transiting from Brazil, peru, panama, colombia etc. Anybody visiting Mexico now has just 20 percent chance of entering mexico at the point of entry.
Some month back, a family member or a close friend of the Nigerian Amb. Was denied entry and the Amb. Rush to the airport to plead on his behalf, at the end of the day, the young man was deported.
The reason being that every Nigeria coming to Mexico for tourist, 98 percent don't return back to Nigeria.
Another advice is that if you come to mexico now with a tourist visa, you have only 2 chances to change your status from tourist visa to resident permit or any other visa.
1.) You have to exit mexico and come back again the second time for you to be able to change your status.
2.) You need to marry a Mexican citizen.
And to get married to a Mexican citizen, you have to legalize your birth certificate in Mexican embassy in Abuja.
The Mexican embassy can only legalise it for you if you have a resident permit. They used to legalise it before , but when they noticed what Nigerians are using it to do, they stop issuing it to tourist visa holder.
ok. but what airport is that? is it the one in mexico city? how does the process at the abuja embassy go? thanx

Lemme make it short.

Went to a friend's place on Tuesday to watch Real-Madrid match. After a while,I heard a knock at the door,my friend went to open,I started hearing noise,on getting to the door,I saw my friend beating his girlfriend. I had to ask,he said the girlfriend came unannounced, and want to force herself in,which resulted to fracas.

I settled them, and went drop the girl in her hostel in unilag, went I came back to my friend's place,he was shouting that why should I go drop the girl off to her hostel, that I should have left her outside, when he locked the door against her. That my loyalty should be to him.

My question is this, was I wrong to have dropped her? I went to drop her because she was crying, bruised, and her sandal was torn.it will be unfair to leave her outside.

How can I help her out of the toxic relationship, without being seen as a traitor,or back-stabber by my friend, because its obvious my friend didn't like her at all, she's the one forcing herself on him.

Imagine after the whole beating, while driving her to school, she was pleading with me to beg my friend for her,I was like WTF in my mind, but didn't say anything, that I will get back to her.
meanwhile if it had been her elder brother who beat her like that she would have called in the police. these girls are just plain stupid. when they get into a relationship or marriage they drop their brains at the door. leave that idiiot alone

Even in the USA, there is a certain way you act when the police officers stop you
Your hands MUST be on the steering wheel amd you sit in the car
You are not expected to open the door or step out unless the officer makes that request.
At a check point, you act properly even in the US
and so because in the US that is done then its right abi? so if millions of people are killed everyday in the US by their military its fine for Nigeria to do same since it was done in the USA abi? and u must be an ignoramus to think the US is now the world standard to look at when it comes to human rights. why do u think the Nobel peace prize is held in Norway? there are countries way beta than america when it comes to human rights. the US fails on this point. do you know that the US has one of the worst criminal justice systems in the world? do you know how may people are locked up in US jails for flimsy reasons? stop talking thrash. compare this situation with Norway, Sweden, Denmark , Canada and not some hell hole called USA

After all that rant, I couldn't see a single line the article quoted coming from the general that suggests he's "drawn a battle line with the ss and se". These guys have chosen to continue trudging along the same trajectory even after the election; causing ethnoreligious disharmony and tension. How does calling an election a sham amount to drawing a battle line??

The ordinary hardworking folks who bust their humps daily under the scorching sun in the SS and SE should be mindful of the condemnable antics of these greedy politicians that claim to represent their interests when in fact they value the lives of the pets they have at home more than that of an average South southerner or South easterner. They've completely lost out in the power struggle and the only way they can remain relevant is ensuring that everyone from that region irrespective of social class, sees the government at the centre as an enemy! Even in Abia, APGA is calling for an outright cancellation of the polls because they were a complete "sham". What are they gonna say about that? That Buhari instigated APGA to do so??

If I were Buhari, I'd try to ensure a bill is passed that would criminalise utterances like this. If you can't live in unity irrespective of your tribe or where you come from, remain in your house and interact with only your family or spew garbage in public and have your bigoted asss hauled into jail. Useless fools acting like victims while promoting their uncanny agenda.
u must be an illiterate including those who liked ur post. for ur info everyone has a right to the freedom of expression which is a constitutional right. so insofar u not making treasonable comments. any bill which purpose to limit this key freedom would be declared null void by the courts. how wiuld u have known that when u never went to school. fuul

I have seen and experienced some things at this check points and would share dem With you.
* Don't make phone calls at a check point expect if you want your phone smashed and u possibly getting some military grade ass whopping.

* When you are stopped at a military check point don't throw dirt or anything cos dis really gets to them.

* Don't have on black glasses at a check point cos they would break it, I still don't know how it affects them but I learnt the hard way.

*When at a check point remove earpiece or headphones from ur ear, I heard it gets them angry when they see someone with it on when they stop a vehicle to check.

* When your car is stopped don't use dat opportunity to relieve your bladder or take a shit at a check point except if you want to use ur mouth and hand to clean up your mess.
* This is for guys, when you are stopped they might tell you to come down make sure you are not sagging ur pants or else dem go use you shine.

* Don't wave at a soldier except if he/she knows you.

*When approaching a military check point don't stick ur head or hands outside d window cos this gives a bad signal.

* When at a military check point always cooperate, don't argue and don't attempt to show your self cos if you do you would be given royal beating.
Most of the above mentioned mostly happen in the north so b cautious and you won't have any cause to worry
this istotal rubbish. so are soilders godsor wat? nigerians fear too much. wud u see an american writing this thrash? you have no idea what ur rights that's why u writing this thrash.

all of you talking thrash about saraki know nothing. saraki has contributed far more to the apc than akume. apc won all the seats in the state assembly elections in kwara state and also the national assembly results. the same didn't happen in Benue. that's why david mark came back. tinubu simply wants a man he can put in his pocket and that's why he prefers akume who is another ambode. saraki is a man of his own, was classmates with lamido sanusi at kings college. his dad was a senate leader in 70s.. tinubu is just scared he cant control saraki
