It was because you have been denied before and you cant make use of the emergency request to apply for early appointment date according to one of their rules
Really? But this isn't 'emergency request' used to expedite appointment, this's just ordinary Rescheduling in order to switch to another date. U mentioned about rules, is it a new rule? Anyway, thanks for looking into my case and spotting the flaws in my transcript, will look into that.

I see your interview couldn't pull through cos you submitted. Your DS160 on or after 9th of June. @Kenkool had his interview and got his visa today. He must have submitted his Ds160 form before that date.

We await the responce of those in your shoes. All is well.
Notonlyamerika:
Guy wasn't only u that the technical issues affected, even the day I went for mine almost 70% of applicants were disappointed including me. Ur submission date of ds-160 was on 9th June, right? Conversely mine was on 6th June.I tell U its a very serious issue. I wait till the problem is rectified before I make another move.
Thanks guys for getting my worries dissipated.

Whichever way it is, in my opinion, the best bet is for you to go for the interview. There you will be sure. You are most likely to be interviewed cos it was stated that those who submitted their application AFTER June 9 and falls within the week June 14-20 should reschedule.
Got it, thanks.

Pls gurus concerning the notice at the CGI website, I have an appointment for visa interview on the 22nd day of June 2015, but I submitted the ds-160 form on the 9th day of June 2015, will I have any problem at the embassy on the date of my appointment? Is the notice also specific for applicants that have appointments within June 14-20? Help me clarify it pls.

OjaP:
Slimmy: You are so on point.

Portelli: Let me be honest with you, you may never get the visa unless you change to an actual degree. We say it many times here that V.Os seldom issue visas to older community college applicants, yet you think they will issue a visa for a-3-months non-credit course? Although there are exceptions to this which you will find later in this write up. But first permit me to point out some flaws in your answers to the V.O.

- You mentioned that U.S degree is widely accepted and respected. Yes it is - no doubt. But are you getting a degree? You are not even going to get any credits for the classes you would be taking according to you. This is contradicting.

- You said that you will become employable and a-sought-after engineer upon completion of your non-credit class. Please forget that. An OND and 3 months training won't make any difference. There are many unemployed engineers in Nigeria with a first class degree, masters degree, several certifications, and even a Ph.D. I am not sure any employer would hire you simply because of your training. An exemption may be if the job being advertised is mainly for an OND holder. So why would you spend so much to go to the USA, come back to Nigeria and get a technologist job and earn way less than an HND or BSc holder?

People who get visas for a 3-month training or class are people who are established already. Engineers who have a job and only going to add to their knowledge or get certified and in most cases are sponsored by their employers. Your case is different. You are just starting life and have no job. Why would you waste your money for a 3 month non-credit class?

I am surprised the V.O went this far with you. I agree with Slimmy that he is probably just messing with your brain. I am also surprised that you got admitted into UMD, NJIT, University of Bridgeport, and SUNY for a non credit class which means they will be issuing an I-20. Or do you mean you got admitted as a freshman? If the latter, why not go with any of the schools that offered a degree admission instead of the 3 months non-credit class? On a second thought, I remember you didn't write the SAT and these highly rated and selective schools would ask for that before considering you for an admission. I am not sure if your OND would suffice in lieu of the SAT but you never mentioned this so I will assume you didn't submit any of them.

I will advise you to apply for a "proper" degree, write the SAT, and go back to the embassy.

I wish you good luck.
See dude I appreciate ur concern. But did you read my interview transcript very well. because if you did, u wouldn't complicate this issue. If you read without comprehension, feel free to ask qstions before condemning my post. So, with all the schools that I listed, they sound like community colleges to u, talk less of noncredit course in US. I said it, no slanderous statements, if none can say what's expected, don't quote me, I'm okay with what I have had so far.

yea thanks. I would have used I-20 from university of Maryland Baltimore, but the problem was their I-20 came very late, when I had already booked appointment with the I-20 from SUNY college.

If I get you clearly you went with University of Maryland right? That's a great school, the schools you applied to are not bad at all. You also need to buttress more on why you didn't take SAT since you already have an engineering background considering your OND cert and IT.
SUNY college at Buffalo

I thought as much. because before I applied to this school, I first of all check whether it is recognised by going through the webpage of recognised schools in US at dhs website, from there I confirmed that the school is recognised by dhs. so, I wonder why they would delay my visa with I-20 from the sch.

Not really. The CO who interviews you determine your fate.

From analysis of your interview, the VO was interested in SAT, not really TOEFL. And as an engineering student, taking SAT is more important than TOEFL or IELTS, like GRE over TOEFL. And she denied you a visa because of this. It's quite pitiful. For me, you did very well.

So, what you should do is get the SAT and replace your present school to University of Maryland. Next VO comes, look at your previous data and compare with your newest and stronger data and nods his or her head and approve your visa without so much stress.

Aside that, then, your dad might have travelled out of Nigeria as an importer. When someone is an importer, one thing that comes into people's mind is, he has travelled out of his home country cheesy

Nobody would believe you as an importer, if you haven't travelled out of your country. Example,

VO: Which state are you heading to in the United States?
Hustler: Texas.
VO: Where exactly in Texas?
Hustler: Austin.
VO: Ok. So, what do you do for a living?
Hustler: I'm an Importer.
VO: Have you travelled out of Nigeria before?
Hustler: No.
VO: Sorry, you're not qualified for this visa now but can reapply.

In a nutshell, with steadyfast and hardwork, I am pretty sure you'll make it.
thank you very much. I appreciate ur advice and illustrations. I'll put them into consideration.

My man just believe in God and reaply .I never see any reason that your dad has not traveled out got to do with your studies.
Maybe they use that as a measure to know if your Dad is really a big business man as you said.just pray in your next application God should give us a nice Vo
Amen thank you. Maybe that triggered a suspicion: how can my dad be an importer without having to travel out ?. because my dad imports goods through online communications with the senders.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by portelli: 8:11am On May 20, 2015
DeeTus:
Oh no. How could the CO deny you a visa just like this?
Don't reapply yet. Defer your application to next session and go get your SAT and come up with another school like University of Maryland maybe.
SAT is important for science and engineering students.
Sorry for your inability to procure visa at this moment. I feel your pain.

visa delayed in Abuja by one strict vo at window 9.

This is how it went:

me: ( with smiling face ) Good morning ma'am
vo: good morning, pass me ur docs
me: (passes them )
vo: ( types for a while ) u re studying, u re a student?
me: yes
vo: which school
me: xyz state polytechnic
vo: which course
me: 3-month noncredit course on mech eng
vo: what will u study in US
me: mechanical engineering
vo: why study in US
me: because academic experience and degrees from US universities are highly recognised and valued all over the world especially here by Nigerian employers. they....( she cuts )
vo: how many schools did you apply to
me: 4 schools
vo: how many accepted you
me: I was accepted by four of the schools
vo: what are they
me: uni of Maryland, njit , uni of Bridgeport &SUNY college at buffalo
vo: so why this school
me: I chose this school because of d competitiveness I recognised in their mech eng course when compared to oda universities mech eng courses that I applied for, which includes a well structured and cutting edge curriculum with a solid theoritical and extensive hands-on education, combined with a well equipped modern laboratories. most importantly dedicated and outstanding faculties who are experts and whose top priority is to inculcate in me the mech eng xperience dat can hep me to advance my career here in 9ja (she cuts)
vo: when did u finish sec skool
me: 2009
v.o: what have been doing
me: in 2010 I took jamb which gave me entrance to a national diploma course on mech end in 2011 and grad in 2013 after den undertuk a 1yr IT which was a mandatory requirement for my ND course on March eng and currently now attending a 3-month noncredit course on mech eng to keep me fit for this course I will face in US.
vo: did you write SAT
me: no but I took TOEFL
vo: who's paying for your fees
me; my dad
vo: what does he do
me: he is the owner and CEO of xyz enterprises nig ltd
the market leader in the importation and distribution of all kinds of electrical and electronic appliances and also automobile spare parts with head office in Lagos state and 10 other branched offices across the country.
vo: has ur dad travelled out
me: no ma'am
vo: unfortunately visa cannot be approved blaa bla bla h

from the last qstion and answer that I gave, I can see the mistake. But my dad does online business, doesn't travel. but I think I should have convinced the vo by telling the vo that he travels out even though he doesn't, since getting visa was the priority. Pls gurus in the house, out of this transcript, what caused the delay, pls don't cast aspersions because we all here to learn. No one knows it all.

Dot worry about the freshman. The strictness is between you and the school. This is you and the VISA officer. Starting as a freshman is not a problem. Like I explained earlier. So you need to read my post and pick one or two that can help. Don't have any further statement.

Take your time and read my comment. I don't think you read it carefully to understand

Exactly was I was explaining earlier that your ND will get you into Junior and you will only spend 1 and half year if you're smart. My cousin came here with his ND and got his bachelors with just 3 semesters. You can tell the VO about your national diploma. Make this point by telling him your department has been very considerable and willing to meet you to deliberate on courses that would be waived which would secure you a Junior instead of a freshman.

The truth is, you don't need to transfer, when you come you go straight to your dept, show them your transcript and explain to them that after checking the courses and curriculum it fits with what you have done during your ND, you would need to explain to them what and what you've learnt.

Secondly, if you are not that old, maybe 21 or 22 then you can probably use your work experience or better still use the ND and work experience. But make sure you buttress on the research project opportunity you would like to be part of if you're a science student. Look for any research work going on in your dept. You can even email the prof for a voluntary participation during your off school hour to see if he would agree, then the email exchange would stand as a proof.
Thanks for your advice which is crucial if I was admitted as a Junior. But in my case, due to the strictness in consideration of applications by one US uni, with my ND, I was admitted as a freshman instead of Junior, and I was thinking maybe the VO would ask why I was admitted as a freshman instead of Junior even though I maintained upper credit level in my ND? or can't VO ask that kind of qstion?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by portelli: 2:37pm On Mar 25, 2015
House when one has a national diploma on a particular course and has been admitted as a freshman on the same course by US uni, will it trigger more questions before the VO ? ( this is because with ND one can be admitted as a Junior instead of freshman).

Good morning, please I need advise on this:

I deferred my admission last year fall till fall this year (September). I just received the form I-20 for this year and the Sevis Number on it is the same as the one on the form I-20 that was sent to me last year September. I had to defer last year's admission because the admission came late and I could not get an early visa interview date, so I cancelled the appointment with the embassy.
I know I have to pay a new visa fee, but I am not sure if I have to pay a new Sevis fee. Also, I am confused if I should use the same profile I created last year on www.ustraveldocs.com to schedule a new appointment.

Please I will really appreciate your advise on this. Thank you.
In a nutshell, sevis fee receipt lasts for one year from the date of the payment. There is no problem using the same or creating another profile.
