There were no Nigerian governors anywhere before the colonialists came, but there were kings in many places, so that point is moot.

This was your original point, but you can see that it is not accurate. You have admitted that the Eze Nri, Obi of Onitsha, Obi of Agbor and Asagba of Asaba existed before the arrival of the colonialists, which means that some Igbos practiced monarchy and some did not.


The fact that there are currently governors and that the governors can remove monarchs does not change the fact that monarchs existed in Igboland before the arrival of the colonialists.

Many traditional rulers in Igboland are not warrant chiefs and have been king even before the whitemen arrived.

The republican system are just to cover una lapses of leadership.

Igbos have king and I advise you to read well though it is not lost on me that Imo lack Kingship pattern but it doesn't exist like that in other places.

Infact many communities in Igboland has her Kingship tied on blood line, how do warrant chief come to play here?

Be specific with the community you want to use as example and stop using igbo as a whole as testing ground for your propganda.

What you have are ancient kingdoms that are today, the sizes of a community.

Whereas sultan of sokoto is the supreme leader, just as ooni is alleged to be the supreme for all Yorubas. Igbo enwe eze, but onitsha, asaba, agbor nwe eze. (Igbo doesn’t have supreme leader, but onitsha, asaba, agbor do have)

The extant Nigerian constitution allows that for some cloudy reasons. Again, it's not about Igbo culture not having kingship; Sani Abacha deposed a Sokoto emir just as the current Kano governor deposed Sanusi II, whose father was equally deposed by Ahmadu Bello, I think.


The Nigerian law allows even the Oni of Ife, Oba of Benin or even the Obi of Onitsha to be deposed by a small boy governor of the state.

The funny part is,they are even under local government chairman not governors.
