We keep on trying more to live western life here. We are talking about your mother in-law bro.My question is: 1 Does her visit effects your wife negatively?. 2 Do she beg you for money each time she visit?. 3 Will you complain if she bring a lot of goodies while visiting. |

You are just two months gone in marriage, I feel it is too early to start having this displeasure towards her visit... Moreover you sounded like you don't even have an iota of likeness for her at all... I understand you might love your privacy that much, but don't forget, you still have a long way to go with her and the family at large... Don't create enmity where none exist.. My suggestion, anytime such visits come up, stay out of sight totally, either you remain in your room or you drive out to breath... Hence, both the mother and daughter might get to understand you aren't comfortable...and tend to adjust... Thread carefully |

Be careful about discussing domestic affairs in the public domain. She is your mother-in-law, bear with her. In Nigeria, marriage is not only between the man and the woman; it is between families. If your are really 'one' with your wife, then the woman is your 'mother.' |

JaneYave:But why is it that in marriage, it is always women that have one Wahala or the other? Mother-in-law VS wife Wife VS mother-in-law Sister-in-law VS wife Wife VS sister-in-law U rarely see fathers in these who drama. Does the really mean that women are naturally dramatic and men are really trying living with then? ![]() |

God bless you. Lets add that the poster should not start his family on conflict. Relocate and live far from them. Thats your best bet. IF she comes unannounced, please welcome her no matter displeasing it is.. MArriage is a union of 40 or more years, if God preserves both of you. Ammishaddai: |

Did she come with one month worth of luggage? Has she announced that she will be staying indefinitely? If not, then what's your problem? Ok, you're broke? Stop putting yourself under undue pressure. She has not asked you for tfare. Have some respect. Grow up. |

OP, you must be a "real man" that's why she has the effrontery to enter your house without notice probably with the help of your wife |

Oga change your name first. Maybe she dey fear for her daughter. How can your name be death is free and you are expecting your mother in law not to frequent your home?.... By the way she will soon get tired of you both and stop coming. I also notice you don't love her...try and be free with her and love her like your own mother |

Dont warn Dont do anything my friend and I understand how you feel. Sometimes letting things slide does a long way , the poor lady may even be lonely and passing thru a tough time and needed a place for closure. Your presence situation or condition will not be forever Calm down I have taken actions in the past and regretted it and right now know when a mild wind can become a whirlwind |

RMoneyInTheBank:It is very rude and disrespectful not to call ahead of a visit. While you may not be able to control that due to cultural differences you should not let go of the values of decency. Consider the visit as unofficial with this poignant example. Mr. President can and has visited the United Kingdom on a State visit, to attend an International Confetence and privately to attend to his health. Same person, same country, different purposes and so different receptions. A State visit will roll out the red carpet and brass band, the private visit will likely happen in the dead of the night with only the local law enforcement informed. You are the king or Head of State of your house. If visits are random, unplanned, ill informed then your representation is not always mandatory. You don't need to roll out the red carpet and stand in attendance. She may then come and go as she pleases without even a 'coke and a smile'. Keep your respect. It is your house. |
