Scholars insist the origin of Manillas in West Africa must first be studied and clarified before going back to the manilla found in Igboukwu.

Scholars actually know how manillas got to africa. What they insisted is that since manilla was found among the artefacts discovered in Igbo-Ukwu, the 9th century dating using 1950s technology could be wrong. I believe a new carbon dating project would resolve this issue on the other items. Carbon dating cannot however put manillas in 9th century.

Benin became an empire when Oba Ewuare became king, amassed an army and started taking over territories around 1440. He was the first of the 5 warrior kings. His son, Oba Ozolua was believed to have won 200 battles. It was Oba Orhogbua that stretched his empire beyond the River Niger in the east and Ghana to the west. Trade with the Portuguese expanded their wealth and might and funded the expeditions. (SOURCE: BBC website)

The manilla bronzes were brought in by the Portuguese merchants and would have found their way to Igbo land possibly via commerce long after Benin started accepting manilla, not before.

Come on , let's be logical for a second. There is no single evidence Bini ever crossed Agbor...just some bogus map that says nothing about what was met on ground. These your wars you fought who did you fight and which land did you take.

And do you know the true definition of an "empire" ?

That doesn't wipe away the fact that what stands till date is that the Igbos have the oldest civilization in Nigeria and the scholars insist that manilla in West Africa should be verified before explaining its presence in Igboukwu.

And since you are desperate to prove that Igbo civilization is not the oldest then you would do well and wait for the new studies on Igboukwu artifacts as it is oldest Civilization in Nigeria till tomorrow.

He is enjoying all the attention he is getting. At the end of the day you will just have Binis believing that Igbos were once their slaves. And Igbos believing they were never slaves. Bini is a mushroom village kingdom that Ika people ransacked at will.
A city that used her people for fetish human sacrifices that sent many of them scampering helter skelter.

There is no single civilization attached to Bini.
They have no Iron ore sites, they didn't evolve written language. They were ruled by a single man. Liased with Portuguese to terrorize fellow Africans just for piece of metals to use for art works.
Very pathetic.

Lol!Nope it's not.Osa de bey = Olisa de be= God should preserve. In Igboland, we call God Olisa/Olise/Orisa/Orise, depending on your dialect and part of Igboland. The Osa in Osadebey is an abridged form of Olisa. Just like you have Chuma instead of Chukwuma. Other Olisa names in Igboland.Olisakwe=. Osakwe=. if God agrees Olisaedu=. Osedu (the "a" in Olisa is silent here, we call it "olilo udaume in Igbo language) = God leads.Okwuolisa= Okwuosa= Gods word Beluolisa= Boosa = If not for God.
Olisaeloka= Oseloka= God thought very well of me.Etc.In these names, Olisa can be replaced with Chukwu to get same meaning.Like Yorubas that have Olorun, Oluwa, etc Igbos have many names for God.Chukwu, Olisa, Chineke, Obasi, Chiokike, etc.

Orisa is 100% Yoruba though. It is Oritse in Itsekiri.

Scholars already concluded that Manillas originated in Calabar and subsequently got to East and there are various types of manilla.

The presence of manilla in Igboukwu now create a need to make more investigations on manilla in West Africa and how they appeared in Igboukwu.
So you have to wait for the result of the finding while bearing in mind that Igbo having the oldest civilization still stand from now till eternity till proven otherwise.

There is virtually nothing any of you can do about it ,if you like cry and sleep on this thread.

Also saying our ancestors were slaves is nothing. The Jews of today were slaves to Egypt before, even the Bible confirmed it. The GREAT Britain were slaves to Rome before. Why should I be ashamed that my people were once slaves? Bloody fool. If you're pained that we Ika rejected you blood sucking Igbos, you can go kill yourself, we don't care

From my understanding Ikas are from Bini royalty not Bini slaves. Is that the narrative?

Fred Pearce wrote the following about the Benin City wall in the science magazine New Scientist: “In all, they are four times longer than the Great Wall of China and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops. They took an estimated 150 million hours to construct and are perhaps the largest single archaeological phenomenon on the planet.”

The Guinness Book of Records (1974 edition) described the walls of Benin City and its surrounding kingdom as “the world’s largest earthworks carried out prior to the mechanical era”.

Benin City was one of the first cities on Earth to have a semblance of street lighting, with huge metal lamps, many feet high, built and placed around the city.

In 1691, the Portuguese ship captain Lourenco Pinto observed: “Great Benin, where the king resides, is larger than Lisbon. All the streets run straight and as far as the eye can see. The houses are large, especially that of the king, which is richly decorated and has fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown, and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.”

In his personal account, 17th-century Dutch visitor Olfert Dapper wrote, “Houses are built alongside the streets in good order, the one close to the other. Adorned with gables and steps … they are usually broad with long galleries inside, especially so in the case of the houses of the nobility, and divided into many rooms which are separated by walls made of red clay, very well erected.”

“[The walls are] as shiny and smooth by washing and rubbing as any wall in Holland can be made with chalk, and they are like mirrors. The upper storeys are made of the same sort of clay. Moreover, every house is provided with a well for the supply of fresh water,” he continued.

Nope it is not, at least not in the context of God.

In Igboland, there is a R and L divide between Anambra and Imo state.
Anambra Igbo tribes use L for most things, while the Imo tribes use R.

For example.

Madness is "Ara" in Imo dialects while in Anambra dialects, it's "Ala".
Water is " MMiri" in Imo dialects, in Anambra it's "Mmili".

In same manner, Olisa in Anambra, is Orisa in Imo, while in Ndokwa/Ukwuani, it's Orise.
Because in Ndokwa/Ukwuani dialects, "a" in other Igbo dialects are often replaced with "e".

Eg two "abuo" in central Igbo, but is "Ebuo" in Ndokwa/Ukwuani/ Ogbaru dialects.

So you can see how Olisa in Anambra can quickly change to Orisa in Imo and then to Orise in nearby Ndokwa/Ukwuani.

You know it's Very stupid of you to assume we're still slaves in this current era. Typical Igbo man! Dotted fool! Your people are the current slaves in Nigeria, how didn't you know that? Even we the minority tribe in Nigeria, our people are in more political offices than you majority igbo landlocked zombies.
If you are accepting your people were a slave like Reno and co have said, you might as well accept that your people were "Igbo slaves". In other words, Igbos! You can't go into slavery as Igbos and come out as non Igbos. Meanwhile, control your spittle, no be fight.

The Afa divination in Igbo is based on the Yoruba Ifa.

Don't be stupid.

Afa has nothing to do with Ifa.
It only proves that Ndiigbo had earlier contact with Yorubas before we branched off.
We all once once had an YEAII ancestor.
So we share certain words that originated from a common ancestor we shared in the past.
It doesn't mean any of us borrowed from each other.

Other example is stone.

Igbos call it Okwute, Yorubas call it Okuta.
Who borrowed from who?
Nobody.
Both evolved from a a known extinct common ancestral root word.

Well it's main deity in all Igbo dialects and used interchangeably with Chukwu, Chineke, Chiokike and Obasi.
The equivalent in Yoruba should be Olorun or Oluwa.

So obviously Orisa in Igbo is not same as that of Yoruba. Orisa is a dialectical variance of Olisa, Olise, Orise , in Igbo dialectical continuum.
They are just a coincidence.
