When I see teachers writing they earn 11k, 18k etc. I wonder how you people cope. Bros check else where, there are better offers out there if you what you are doing.

Hmmm! Bro, don't be too comfortable with such outrageous pay. Try use your free time to learn Digital Skill, after you might have master one, you can then be on the lookout for a better option. If you are interested and got data to spare, chat me up via WhatsApp (check my sig) for a free Digital Skill Course. Just look for one you have flare and interest for. Wish you all the best.
I'm interested

I once taught some kids during d Corona holiday.

The pay was 5k per month and I just needed it (at least to purchase toothpaste, bathing soap and other small stuffs like barbing hair).

Luckily, d place was like a 20 minutes trek from my house. So, I trekked everyday to save cost.

Once paid, the first thing I do is to remove 500naira from d money (for taking myself out and spoiling myself).

I usually buy a bottle of malt + 300naira goat meat.

Then start managing d rest .

All thanks to d day I stumbled on a nairaland thread by @Venzal.

A lot changed.

Although I'm not active with d copywriting he taught (for free) , i managed to figure other stuffs out.

Nowadays , its a taboo for a day to pass without me seeing at least 3k (without leaving my room).

It can be 3k, 5 or up to 10.

Yeah...

On lucky days, 15 - 50k at once.

But a day or two doesn't just pass without me seeing some cash.

I regret ever working as a lesson teacher.

Can't even do it for 40k monthly pay.

Its not worth my time

Bro teach me too

The workload isn't much. Teach Just two classes : SS3 and SS2 Financial Accounting and earn above 100k. By next year I should be on level 12 if the insensitive Wike-led Government will elect to promote workers. I've been stagnant for 9years on same level.
You don't even have workload..and meanwhile you can't compare a government worker to a private school teacher..the difference is clear abeg...meanwhile @op I won't ask you to resign..since you stay with your parents..continue gathering the experience while looking for a better job..

..and one of my students raised up hand as if a question was coming, but..na, it was an advice;
Guess the advice...

She said..Uncle, I think you are too smart and loaded to be a teacher, teaching don't pay in Nigeria.

And I privately re-examined the students stance...she was probably right anyway.

But why can't Nigeria make teaching juicy, this profession requires competitive market to encourage more brain yield into the system otherwise it will continue to suffer brain-drain which is the root cause of poor Education in naija.

If you are a policy maker in education (whatever level), think about it.
Stop treating your academic staff as though they are slaves.

[quote author=Boinni post=105623912]Teachers over to you[/quot9e]

It's a nice topic though as an Educationist I have been in the Teaxhing job for over 11 years now, and I can categorically say that the reward of Teachers are no longer in heaven but on earth. Teachers are now well paid it all depends on the the school you where you teach, your qualifications, whether you are a 21st century Teacher or not. Just like it is in banks, a can't expect a Teller in a microfinance bank to command the same pay as another who world with the Tier 1 banks.

To cut a long story short. When I stated after graduating with B.Sc Ed Chemistry 10 year ago my salary was 25k. But over time with experience and Cambridge Teaching certification ,Microsoft certified Educator , TRCN and been Tech savvy( that is using Latest technology in the classroom). I now earn close to 300k in an international school aside online tutoring and home lessons here in Abuja.

I teach 11 subjects and I earn 15k monthly

[Breakdown of the subjects]
I teach Primary 3 and 4 students Mathematics and I teach JSS 1 to JSS 3 Maths, ICT and BST.

The relief for a while now is that after the JSS 3 students concluded their state exams, they haven't been coming to school.

As a teacher, what's your workload and pay range?

PS: I took advantage of a situation to request for an increase last month and 2k was added.....
If not for that, it's not deemed fit to be reviewed....

Don’t relax with this type of pay. How will you feed yourself, your wife or female friend

Can someone choose to be a teacher in this present day Nigeria or just condition. My friend that is a teacher is always complaining of no payment, but the annoying thing about him, is the way he supports Hope uzodimma and Buhari

Surely, it's the fault of his proprietor or proprietress not Hope or Buhari, so allow him support who he wants to.
