Housing prices are skyrocketing everywhere.

Nobody is talking about highbrow areas.
Speak to an estate agent about the cost of a decent self-contain, two-bedroom and three-bed room flat
in any area that is not crime-infested and come back with your report.
Do you think it is the elites that are living in the type of houses I listed above?

You are funny, who told you I am talking about Lekki?
I talked about rent, not purchase.
I mentioned state capitals and your mind immediately goes to Lekki.
How does that follow?
FYI, poor and middle class also reside in your magical Lekki.
If your claims are correct, then Lagos could not exist as a city.

It is always entertaining when people pull random numbers to make a point.
What exactly is squalor to you?

Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world. Atleast 80 million live on less than $1 a day. Costs are rising everywhere according to you but Nigeria's inflation is at freaking double digits 17%, one of the highest in the world. 33% of Nigerians, that is about 70 million Nigerians, are unemployed. But you're talking about a non existent elite? Minimum wage is 30k per month, less than a freaking $100 per month but you're talking about a some people earning 5 million per month like it's a norm?

You're asking me what squalor means? 2 years back, Nigeria overtook India as the poverty capital of the world and has maintained that same position. What could be worse than being the poverty capital of the world? Or does being the poverty capital of the world not mean highest numbers living in squalor? Keep fooling yaself

You are either very ignorant or just lie to push your points. A Ghanaian can pay their monthly house rent easily while living comfortably for the rest of the month. If most Nigerians pay house rent monthly, they will starve for the rest of the month.

Beautiful nonsense.

Things aren't actually expensive in Nigeria compared to other advanced countries. It is the purchasing power that differs.

There are people in Nigeria who earn over $10k dollars a month. If such people travel out of Nigeria to the USA,he will come back to tell you that cost of living in Nigeria is way too cheaper compared to the US.

I will rather earn $1k a month in Nigeria, than to earn $3k-$5k in America

Where are u going to see d $1k a month to earn in Nigeria?

There are 7 companies that control broadband in america, Comcast, Charter, AT&T, Verizon, CenturyLink, Frontier, and Windstream

Comcast and Charter control the market, so you are at their mercy in terms of price
hold on bros! Who fed you these lies? Just so you know, AT%T dominate the US market share by far with more than 44%, then followed by Verizon and T-mobile lagging behind. That talk of monopoly is absurd - is akin to saying MTN monopolise the market here which is untrue.

Purchasing Power Parity only works when you buy locally produced items. Example. Rice, tomatoes, oil, egusi, Vegetables, beef etc.

When you start buying imported stuff like TV, Mobile phones, Petrol, Machinery equipments, clothes etc. That is when you'll realise your $1k is dust. Also compare how easy it is to get a job that pays $1k in US than in Nigeria.

Professors in Nigerian Universities do not even earn up to 1k per month

Someone did a thread showing the cost of data around the world in Dollars and some concluded from the thread that Data is cheap in Nigeria. This is not true at all. Data in Nigeria, like many other things, e.g. fuel. food stuff, is not cheap, but expensive. Very expensive!

Those who make these comparisons are only pushing out a false narrative based on false comparisons. What makes a product cheap or expensive is not the price tag on the product but the purchasing power of the buyers. Let's take a simple example.

In the USA, cost of 1GB of data is, according to the data available, $8.00, while in Nigeria, cost of 1Gb of data is around $2.3. Nigeria looks cheaper right? Wrong!

Someone looks at this as then says data is cheaper in Nigeria. But that is a wrong conclusion from a false comparison. The simple way to know which is cheaper is to bring in the buying power of the buyers.

In the USA, the average wage per month is $2730, while in Nigeria, the average wage is N30000 = $58. So without looking too far, a Nigerian who collects his wage will be able to purchase with his full salary, 58 / 2.3 = 25GB, while an American who collects his wage will be able to purchase, with his full salary, 2730 / 8.00 = 341GB

So how is it cheaper for the Nigerian? In fact, A Nigerian who collects minimum wage will spent it all on one bag of rice and transport home while an American who collects his minimum wage can buy 20 bags of rice and still have lots of change left.

I can go on and on and on, comparing products and services but the point is clear. Don't let anyone fool you that anything is cheap in Nigeria. Things are astronomically expensive in Nigeria right now
Now, imagine someone who makes money in Nigeria and travel to the US to spend the money and come back to Nigeria to make more money.

How come India has a cheaper data price than the United states.

Is the purchasing power of the indian rupee more than the purchasing power of the United states dollar.

Stop arguing like you drank ogogoro

this isn't the argument here bro. What i am saying is that things aren't that expensive in Nigeria compared to those countries you mentioned,it is just the purchasing power that differs. You don't need to earn like those in America to afford a decent life in Nigeria, that is my point

The worst part of this is the way the data finishes fast especially with MTN network. They are wayo people. They claim cheaper data and calls, yet both finish within a blink of an eye. Compared to other networks, the seconds that you take say something can for example, be 20 seconds. With MTN, that takes around 24 seconds. Their seconds move faster than other networks, yet they claim it is 11k per second. Same with their data. angry
