Ask him when you see him. But the fact is that Nigeria is far better than some of the Countries that we run to. How could someone run to Oman? Better stay here.

Oh, I should ask the OP now but you were quick to support the OP.

Let me remind you that your country lacks security, health care (doctors are on strike and your politicians go abroad for treatment), basic amenities, no road, no jobs. I can go on and on.

Anyone who is abroad and is complaining that Nigeria is better than those countries should relocate back immediately. But we all know that they will never do that.

The useless op is a case study. After complaining about cyprus, he didnt return to Nigeria but ran to another country.

I think you are being too fast to tear your friend apart for reasons best known to you. As long as he is legal, educated and willing to work, he would be fine. Most new immigrants go through this phase, it doesn’t in anyway mean the average life in Nigeria is better.

Maybe he had too many expectations from America, but there is nothing special about a 300k job in Nigeria. He should give himself time.
It's not your friend but my friend cos I warned her before travelling having been there but she didn't listen. She was busy converting the money into dollars forgetting that she's not gonna spend naira there. Mind you those even earning 200,000 in the same company with her in Nigeria are doing better here. Some are already building their house. It depend on how prudent you are. I know most of you kid on nairaland believed life over there is better than Africa, I feel una pain cos most of you still live under the roof of your parents and haven't seen the other world.

If not Canada, Australia etc.. Don't bother unless you wanna do something illicit... Meanwhile..

Africa has had its fair share of crazy dictators. From the likes of Idi AMIN to the likes of Omar. Bongo.. But there are some of them we haven't heard about or we cannot say how crazy they were.
1.Paul Biya
2.Yahay Jammeh
3.jose Eduardo Dos Santos
5.Thoedoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo
6.King Mswati of Swaziland

And many more.

This documentary paints a comical picture about thier crazyness.

You should have slept with the foreign women. Or as they also expensive to “hire”?

That said, all the people I have seen, that willingly and intentionally traveled to North Cyprus are yahoo boys. There are countries you see people going to and you know they are either ignorant, desperate or their intentions are not noble.

I know someone that traveled to Cambodia. undecided

Cambodia is far better than your zoo. 24 hours electricity, good road network, adequate water supply, good economy, sweet girls, There money has been the same exchange rate to dollars for 25 years, good governance

I disagree with the bolded
Your first paragraph is true and validate my point
Most Nigerians are just getting by

If you are also abroad doing a legal job and earning a decent wage that can pay your Bill's, it's also a good one
The problem with most Nigerian immigrants is that they want to put one leg in Lagos and the other in Los angeles
Its either you make Los Angeles your new home and build there to establish your descendants
Or have an exit strategy back to Lagos after a couple of years
If you take option one, you would NEVER have problems living abroad

Nah so my junior boy I sent to Dubai to go and hustle, I got a job for him where they were paying him 1800 aed about 260,000 as of then, the work is flexible because he work from camp where he live, most at times If I called to check on him, he's either cooking or sleeping during working hours, because that place is facilities and he's in charge of everything, nobody is supervising him or care to know what he does, under 1 year of working there this guy made close to 3m without stress, his friends in Cyprus start fooling him to join them there that life In Cyprus is much better , first time he Brought the idea I told him to forget it , that even if he want to change country it must not be turkey or Cyprus, I told him to at least work for 2 years finish his contract and have upto 6m in his account that I personally help him secure Canada or UK student visa, he can go there and live his life since he like seeing white ladies, but this guy refuse and resigned, anyway he came back to Nigeria and meet the agent that do his friends visa he charged him 2m with ticket I told him its too much, he said he has the money he will pay, but nah my money I use sponsor this very boy oooo, anyway after much talking with the agent I was satisfied at least he won't run away with his money, do you know that the friends later broke the kernel back after he has gotten his visa and ticket and were preparing to join them upper week , they told him the bitter truth , to forget about Cyprus that the place is hard like stone , that no job and they themselves living there for 3 years are not working, since they came they are living in asylum house surviving with small stipend from government that is not up to 50k a month, they leave in tent in open field... this my boy was heart broken he lose interest immediately and said he won't be going again that I should help him see if I can collect the money back from the agent, I told him I can't do that because he delivered, u didn't back out when u were in dubai disturbing the agent to push ur papers that you don't want to stay more than 1 week if he returns from dubai, but immediately u paid him and visa out, u decide to back out, it doesn't work that way.. he lose everything I even decline to return him back to Dubai, he is now in Senegal learning irony of life in hardway, people should ask well before going oo

There are educated, legal and hardworking within the citizens of America and outsiders that are finding life there difficult. Covid-19 even added to this difficulty. My friend is telling me what she passing through even though I wasn't surprised cos I've been there, you that is on nairaland that have never travel out want to justify her just because you have the same mentality of I MUST TRAVEL OUT.

In summary I am stopping you not to travel out.

2021. Things are extremely expensive now in America. A lot of Americans are about to be evicted from their houses because of rent pay. Fuel, foodstuffs, Health Insurance, education some are even paying their education loan 20-30 years after their graduation, things most Nigerians enjoy naturally. Inflation is rising over there but most of you thought the problem of the world start and end in Nigeria. You still receive calls with your network providers even if you don't recharge for two months plus which is not the same in America, you must pay your bill every month whether you have credit or not in your phone.

Average rent in Baltimore is around $1,500 to $2000 depending on size of house. Food is cheap, transportation is cheap with tube.

If you are earning $5000, how much can you possibly spend when rent is sorted.

Even in NY, average rent in a decent high rise building is around $3000. Because your job im NY will probably pay around $5000 to $8000 in NY.

There is a whole lot of money to safe. So stop spreading fake info.

Do your research madame.

Bro, I am telling you the hard fact. You will agree with me that there are Americans and British here in Nigeria. So it's all depends on which side of the coin you are.
No doubt Nigeria has its own Challenges like other countries do, there are lots of places we better than. Don't just jump without doing your home work. More importantly if where you are isn't the best, come back home, that's the message I am passing across.

Hope you know that in many parts of america, they are desperately looking for workers
At least that was the story for the last three months
Dont know about now
Cos I have a young cousin who is over there, who got two jobs at the same time easy (though it's not white collar job) and is combining it with part time uber
He is working very hard and round thr clock
But he is doing fine, saving money, building credit and even sent money back to his mom (my aunt) here in Nigeria
The world is getting tough
But one thing that is undeniable is that the USA have far more opportunities to grow (if you are willing to put in the work) than in Nigeria with very limited opportunities

Did COVID 19 not make life hard for you here in Nigeria? Yours is even worse because the govt doesn’t care. So why singling out that your friend for onslaught? The begging culture online and offline skyrocketed during the pandemic and it hasn’t reduced since then. Nigerians are suffering!

I wish I could reach that your friend. She needs to stop telling you her predicament because it obviously tickles your clitoris and delivers hard orgasms to you.

I have a friend colleague that resigned too to travel abroad. He calls me to tell me the same things your friend is telling you, but I know he made a good decision leaving Nigeria for Canada. I simply tell him it is a phase and yes it is a phase!! 95% of immigrants go through that phase and it is worst when they have no one to help them settle in. I check up on him because I know how depressing life could be for a new immigrant. Sometimes they just want to rant to someone and get some encouragement. Something I am very sure you are not giving her.

Maybe you are also waiting for your friend to pack her bags and come home. I bet you would create a thread filled with smiling emojis that day. Amooo-su!
