Look around you..









Fear seized Maxwell as he look around the shrine.., pillars of teakwood were carved intertwined with red and white cloth that hangs over the very edge of a precipitous descent, and terrifying idols, carved out of the wall of stones were sited in the middle of the heart of the shine, hours ago, a friend he spoke to about needing a spiritual help to solve his Magdalena problem had told him about the powerful native doctor..., his friend testified he has helped lots of people with their spiritual problems and assured him his won't be different...., with that thought his lost soul, destiny or whatever Magdalena had snatched from him will be restored .., he has embarked on the journey and he finally arrived.., even as his heart beat with irregular rhythm with a part of him echoing a doubt...., he still sat with a fear stricken heart waiting for the native doctor to enter the shrine.....

Minutes past before he heard incantations...., he stood totally unsure of what to do when the native doctor finally walks in...., he inhale deeply as he saw a man, probably in his late fifties walks into the shrine with a bell he rings every given second that passes...

Maxwell sigh, all his life he was meant to believe, native doctors are old rickety men who do nothing but sit in the shrine and lavish accolades on carved sticks.....
When the native doctor sat down, he didn't wait for instruction from him before he sat down too.., he watch as the native Doctor flicked gazes between him and the idols as if he was getting some kind of information from the gods..., for once in almost twenty four hours, the thought of Derek Cross his mind reminding him the last time he had seen him.., he has promised himself not to get involved in Derek's issues after his last encounter with Nerissa, finding a solution to his problem is his utmost priority now.....

"My son..."The native doctor said...."There is a saying that the squeaky wheel gets the grease....., you're welcome my son...."

Maxwell grunts before speaking..."Thank you baba.."

"Even before you came..."The native doctor said with a cringe at the idols...."Ijeokoloko has known the problem but our people say a man in need of something must never withdrew his two outstretched hands... and I belive fortune favours the bold and that's why you must state your problem and say what Ijeokoloko can do for you.."

Maxwell sigh wondering how true what they say about the native doctor is...., he look around again before speaking...."I have a problem..., a powerful spirit told me my destiny has been stolen by another spirit...."

"Stop..."The native doctor cut in...."I see them.."He said tilting his head upwards as if the people he's talking about are up there..., Maxwell looks upwards but there was nothing there...

"Marine spirits..."The native doctor chimes in..."They're all over you.."

"I know baba and that's why am here..."

"Your case is simple..."The native doctor said..."But as you know, there's nothing as free lunch in free town..., it'll cost you..."

"Am willing to pay any amount.."Maxwell said....

"Is not money..."The native doctor said..."You need to be cleansed from your head to your toe, every hold she has on you, we need to wash it off before we engage in a fight with them to reclaim your destiny....., and for this to happen, you need to bring some certain items for the spiritual cleansing...."

Maxwell huffs...."What items do I need to bring..?"

The native doctor stood up, pick up the bell, he rang it before he made some incantations..., after a brief moment of silence, he look back at Maxwell....."Ijeokoloko is willing to help you reclaim your destiny from the daughters of the sea if you can get the truck of an elephant not less than the age of thirty five years.. "

Maxwell flinch as the words made way to his ear..."Truck of an elephant..!"He reiterates shocked..

"Not only that..."The native doctor chimes in....."You must also get the teeth of a lion, the left toe of a chameleon, a newly born turtle and the penis of a crocodile....."

"Jesus..."Maxwell blare out

"Hey..."The native doctor hollered...."Don't mention that name here except you want Ijeokoloko to strike you blind..."

Maxwell look askance at him, a frown pop up in his forehead before he open his mouth again to speak..."Where does Ijeoko whatever wants me...

"IJEOKOLOKO...."The native doctor corrected sharply..

"Yeah whatever...."Maxwell snapped infuriated...."Where the hell does he want me to get the penis of a crocodile and all the ridiculous things you just mentioned....."

"It's difficult but it's achievable...."The native doctor said..."Without these items, you will not be able to reclaim your destiny..."

Maxwell sigh, more of irritation..."Can't I just pay the money to buy these things..."

"I don't care, whatever it may cost, am willing to pay...."

The native doctor was silent for a while.., he rang the bell again before speaking..."Fine.., I'll help you get them but like I said, the money will be high.."

"How much is it...?"

"For the truck of the elephant, I'll have to travel seven villages from here to get it and you know nowadays the cost of transportation is high..."

"Transportation..!"Maxwell reiterates smouldering his face with resentment..."Can't you just disappear there, buy them and appear back here...."

"It is your father that will disappear and appear here..."The native doctor retorted..."What do you think this is.., some child's play..., I should be in my inner chamber receiving lessons from Ijeokoloko...., you're the reason I came out here...."

Maxwell shrugs with doubts of the native doctor authenticity flooding his mind....."So how much would it cost...?"

"The truck of the elephant will cost you five hundred thousand..."

"Jesus..."Maxwell blare out again..

The native doctor quickly stood up and almost rushed towards him..

"Baba sorry..."Maxwell said sharply when the native doctor raise a hand to slap him....

"Young man, I don't think you're ready..."The native doctor said..

"Sorry baba..."

The native doctor glare at him before he sat back down....."The penis of the crocodile will cost you another five hundred thousand. ."

Maxwell nibbed but didn't say anything..., he just sat waiting for the native to finish saying his nonsense before he'll give him a piece of his mind.....

"The teeth of the lion will cost you seven hundred thousand, everything else including miscellaneous will cost you three hundred thousand...., everything in total is two million...."

"Did you say miscellaneous..?"Maxwell ask with anger building inside him.

"Yes..., Ijeokoloko might instruct me to buy something else on my way there.."

"Baba you're fake.."Maxwell chided standing up.....

"You called me fake for trying to help you reclaim your lost destiny..."The native doctor fling back...

"Trying to help me..., the only thing you're trying here is to extort me.., thief..."

"Get out of my shrine.."The native doctor hollered...."Before Ijeokoloko will strike you dead.."

"Is that Ijeo-rubbish that will kill you..."Maxwell fling back as he make his way out of the shrine..."

"Idiot..."The native cursed angrily...."Why won't they steal your destiny when you don't put your penis in one place.....useless

"God punish you..."Maxwell sneer over his shoulder before he walked out of the compound and head towards the road...

After few minutes of waiting, Skylar decided to get off from the car.., she pick up the hand pistol, hid it behind her and stepped out from the car.., wondering why Derek's house gate is still open, she look around her before she entered the compound....

She heaved a deep sigh noticing everything was still the same as the last time she had come to Derek's house...., the burnt clothes were still outside, only now the door was open and it made cold chills rain down her spines. ..

She quickly took out the gun and and trot towards the door, she peep inside, the broken bottle and the now dried blood was still visible. ..., wondering what could have happened, she walked in and began to trot towards the room..., the room door was close, she heaved in another deep breathe to calm her panic before she pushed the door open...., there she saw someone, a girl laying down on the bed..., the possibility of she could be dead dawned on her, she was curious, she hasten her steps and drew forward, if she's dead, everything could turn around to be a setup and she doesn't want to be involved, her mission is her priority and a huge sum has been paid on his head..., she loves those mission when the target is always at close range, finding Derek is difficult, she wonder how killing him would be.., the Senator has been calling her non stop, when she couldn't take the calls anymore, she came back with hopes of seeing Derek at home...

She touch the girls wrist, her eyes widened when she realise she's still alive, her face scowled before she began to hit her to get up.....

A cough escaped Jasmine mouth before she opened her eyes..,right there she felt something touch the side of her head....

"Where is Derek...?"Skylar asked facing Jasmine with the gun..

Fear took hold of Jasmine as she turned face Skylar. .., the gun sent her shivering and a thought couldn't formulate in her head...., seconds passed before her thoughts catch up., the girl she had met at the hospital has brought her here but how could she had fallen asleep, she must have done something to her to make her slumber......

"Where is Derek...?"Skylar ask again

Jasmine breathes came out harsh and ragged, she wanted to talk but what came out from her mouth was engulfed in stutters......"Eh.., when.. who is Derek..?"

"Who is Derek. .!"Skylar reiterates angrily..."Bitch you're in his house.."

Jasmine almost drown in fear but even in that terrific moment, she began to think, everything began to set in place..., the girl had brought her to Derek's house..., but why......, she remenber the test of death the girl spoke about...., if she passes the test.., her eye enlarged when one name came to her head... Erica. .....

"Where is he..?"Skylar growled pressing the gun on her head..

Jasmine whimpered and cried out...."I don't know.., I swear I don't know, somebody kidnapped me and brought me here...."

"Kidnapped. ....!"Skylar resounds..."What the fùck is going on here.. "

A tear rolled down Jasmine cheek.."I don't know, I swear don't know.."

Skylar grunts and pull the gun away from her....."Look bitch, you better start talking where Derek is or I swear to God I'll slaughter your motherfùcking ass right here like the bitch you are..... talk..."

When Jamsine said nothing but cried. ., Skylar angrily spun around with intentions of facing her again.., but the moment she turned around, she saw the person standing behind her.., shocked, she yanked back before she faced the intruder with the gun.......

"Who the fùck are you..?"Skylar queried. ...

Nerissa glare at her......"I should be asking you, you're in my house..., an intruder in my house..."

"Where are you Jasmine..."Erica mutter to herself as she tried calling Jasmine phone number for the seventy-sixth time but the number never connected..., it's been five hours since Jasmine told her she's on her way to the hospital....worried, she look at Derek, she didn't want to leave him while he's still sleeping but she's worried about Jasmine and making sure Jasmine is okay will give her mind the rest it wants..., she pecked Derek on the forehead, hesitated a bit before she left the room with intentions of going home to make sure Jasmine is okay..

Few minutes passed before Derek opened his eyes...., a slight headache made way to his head as he sat up.., he look around him, realising he's in the hospital, his thought catch up, the memories of what had happened began to replay in his head.., he had pushed Erica out of the way and the bullet had hit him.....

His heart flew right out his chest when he felt Erica was injured...., with that thought, he pulled off the drips from his body, grab his shirt from the hanger and with the bandage across his chest, he stumbled out from the room muttering Erica's name as he staggered to a nearby person...

"Can I have your phone..., I need to call someone.."Derek said as Pain seared across his face

Before the person could answer him, a hand grabbed him from behind..

Derek quickly spun around to see an old woman sitting on a wheelchair chair with two boys behind him...

"It is you..."The psychic said as he hold Derek's hands tightly......"You're the one with the curse..."

Derek almost pulled his hand from her but she hold on to him tightly. ...

"To lose her hold on you, you must stand and fight.."The psychic said....."The mermaid....., you must use salt on her for there's nothing as powerful as salt..."

"Who are you.?"Derek ask crisply. ...

"There's no time..."The psychic said....."The seventh hour is near....., to save her, you must get rid of her......"

"I don't understand...."Derek said."To save who...?"

"A great battle lies ahead of you.." The psychic said...."And to win this battle you must find your inner strength and the only weapon to destroy her........ , from hell cameth her..."

With these words, the psychic began to cough....,and it was as if someone was strangling life from her and she needed her breathe. ...Mude quickly push the wheelchair away...

"I don't understand, I need to know more.."Derek said running after her but Daniel, Mude's elder brother blocked him.....

"She have said enough...."Daniel said pushing Derek backwards....."Just do as she has said......."

"I need to know more.."Derek insisted..

"You can't. .."Daniel countered...."They're watching. .."

"Who are they..?"

"The people you're involved with..., the spirit beings.....look around you, what do you see...?"

Derek looK around, when he saw nothing than normal people walking around, he look back at Daniel....."I need to talk to her.., she's making sense.."

"Look again..."Daniel said..

Derek huffs, hesitantly he look around again, he saw nothing, he was about taking his eyes off when he saw two birds flying on the far end of the hospital, he took away his gaze and saw something else..., a headless human walking in the midst of humans..., from there he saw three figures on black cloaks.., fear gripped him and he quickly look down at Daniel........

"Don't tried to find her..."Daniel said and left him...

Fear stricken, Derek looK around again but this time he saw nothing other than normal humans going about their day activity. .....

"Jesus..."He mutter when he couldn't find any explanation to what just happened. ...
