Only a fool would give money to the poor and the sick.

The Bile says they will always be with us. Most of them are sinners and are already hellbound.

For me and my family we will give instead to my pastor so I can make Heaven and sit and rule at the right hand of my Jesus eternally.
OMG! undecided

So when Jesus Christ ordered the rich young man to sell everything he had and give the money to the poor, Jesus Christ was being a fool - Matthew 19 vs 16 - 23 shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

One thing I ALWAYS struggle to understand is why is it the smallest amount unusually the hardest to part with.
Tithe is 10%.
So, if you earn 100k; tithe is 10k... you are left with 90k. Why is it difficult to take from the 90k and help the needy, it's the 10k we want to do calculations on.

I just don't get it.

Anyway sha, it is people that give 100 naira, 200 naira as offering, that will feel the pastor is using their money to buy private jets... those who give real good money, don't even bother.
God never asked you to give Him Only 10%. He instead asked you to abandon it all in Jesus Christ's name.. undecided

Your 10% is an insult when what God commanded is that you give up everything- Luke 14 vs 25 - 33 undecided

I have never seen anyone who gave what idols requested as gift to the poor and tell it to the native doctor that you were trying to show empathy..

Deuteronomy 26: 12- 14 says it all.
You can give your tithes to the Needy, Strangers, widows, Motherless.
It's not only the church you give tithe to.

Pastors will not allow their congregation know this part of the Bible.
Na only Malachi they will quote.

You are also to eat your tithe and drink hard liquor with it. Deuteronomy 14: 22-29

In Judaism, tithe is compulsory.

In Christianity, free will giving is commanded.

Paying tithe is one of the works of the Law, and it cannot justify anyone before God.

Christians did not pay tithe in the Bible. They freely gave of their means.

Tithing is not a practice under the New Testament.

God blesses any generous giver under sun.

What about someone didn't hold tithe parcel, does that stop every individuals from helping others. Back to the picture tithe is mandatory unto God which is one-tenth while freewill givings are unto men. If you really love your brother in needs not by converting tithe to freewill offering. You can give all what you have to help someone through passion but tithe is 1/10 by commandment. "Hence, everything we do have a reward".

How can you compare our giving to that of our Lord Jesus Christ?

The rich young man obeyed Jesus as we obey our pastors who officiate in His name.

We will continue to give unto the glory of our pastors. The poor and sick must pray for their own salvation.

. You're not a Christian, you're a religious person. Read Deuteronomy 14 verse 22-29 and see whose tithe is for. Do tithe is for God or Pastor? They have brainwashed you people. God doesn't need anybody's money. Tithe is not money but farm produce. The tithe is for the Levite, orphan, widow, fatherless and stranger. Read your Bible very well.

. This script you quoted is actually a command to the levites and not the people. It is 10% of the tithe that is actually stored in the store house (Neh 10:38) The manner in which the tithe is to be handled is stated in Deut 14: 22- 29 which shows that it belongs to the levites, orphans, widows and yourself. To confirm check Deut 26:12-13

D truth is there three types of tithe in d Bible DT God instructed Israelite to practice
1) tithe to d church
2) tithe to d poor
3) tithe for Passover( festival tithe)
DT why the Jews give 20% of their income 10% to d poor 10% to d church or Judaism temple.dt why grace they follow them Nd they Jews undastand (cheeful giving)charity wrk very well.why d West only practice the to d poor.nd undastand cheerful giving.some of them even try to have investment DT funds their giving to d poor Nd do it in secret.

Let the gullible that doesn't know right from left continue to be confused until redemption days!
• The Church is not govts ( local,State and Federal) that allocated so much Fund by Fiat through different Budgets- some Trillions for themselves with little to show at the end of the year!
• The Church cannot be subdued by direct or indirect attacks through Social Media profiling, especially those who wants to trend on Tithes matters.
That is not the only script that spoke about tithe. Why don't you take time to read through the bible to see for your self. This is the point pastors show you. What about Deut14:22-29, Deut 26:12-13, Neh 10:38 and so on.

And which Levite dey your church that has been distributing to the Widows, Needy and Motherless?
Are they not keeping the tithes to service private jets and luxury cars for pastors?

For me, the day I feel I should pay tithe to the church, I will do. The day I feel like giving it to needy and poor, I will do.
However, the poor and needy should benefit more.

Funny how you judge so quick, read Malachi 3 v 10
What's in the Deuteronomy is the old way
Jesus brought the new way and that's what Malachi 3v10 is all about
Nobody said u shouldn't help the poor or needy but it's clearly stated the tithe is for the house of God in which u worship
The world is truly messed up now that some pastors might be entirely after money, if ur spirit is not in tune with the church u go, u can kindly leave and find another in which ur spirit is pleased
Corrupt pastors doesn't mean u shouldn't personally obey the law you're given as God will judge everybody with the work of their hands

You have said it. Severally I have given out my offering to the needy in Church. Tithes must go to the Church in case you diverted it, you have to replace it.
NaijaHelper1:
The envelope the church goer has on him says offering and tithe.
If I recall correctly, offering is a whole hearted sacrifice you make to God and must not necessarily be given in the church while tithe is a compulsory payment made by the faithful to God for the growth of the church.
Following this logic, since he has his offering and tithe in the same envelope, he can simply take out the offering he could have given God in the church and give to the less privileged since the location does not matter, then go to church and submit his tithe.

If i understand you correctly sir, you are saying if it were only the tithe he had with him, he should not use it to help a sick person? Because tithe is a compulsory payment for the growth of the church.

It has everything to do with tithing which belongs to the agreement that God gave only to those who have the blood of Jacob coursing through their veins, which is what the passage tells you. undecided

So again, Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20 also tells us that God's Tithing and offering laws were only given by God to the people people Israel. undecided

Na logic go kill many people. God demanded for Tithes of all things, yet you are using your own small logic to help God divide am. Continue! Tithes are for Levites pure and simple. If you claim that all Nigerian Pastors and Pastors world all over aren't Levites, you might have a valid argument. If you say that not all Pastors were called by God or continue in the call of God for their ministries, you are even most likely right, but don't let oversabi kill you with the radarada picture you were trying to paint. The picture speaks more of your foolishness than your ignorance.
