Okay this is my timeline! 2nd time applicant

1st application was in the UK on 14th May 2021.
My review started in July when I had already returned to Nigeria. They told me that my UK permit had expired and that I should update them with a new permit. I then replied that I had returned to Nigeria bla bla. Then they issued me a rejection. In the GCMS note, this was the reason:

Nigerian male applicant, has been studying Masters through an Erasmus programme in Italy and in the UK. Status is now expired and he has returned to Port Harcourt.
The applicant has not yet completed his Masters degree through Erasmus programme (states completion will be in September) and as such I am not satisfied that he currently meets the criteria to engage in a PhD programme at McGill University. Further, there are similar programmes available closer to Nigeria, studies in Canada would further remove the applicant from his country of citizenship, after studies in Europe and the UK.

On the whole, I am not satisfied the applicant meets the requirements under R216 for the following reasons:
- Academic credentials have not been presented
- Limited travel history
- Limited assets
- Purpose of travel[/b] [/i]

I felt that they just rejected me because of my expired status in the UK because:
1. I don't have a limited travel history. You can see from the visa officer's comment that they are aware that I have travelled to UK and Italy.
2. I have multiple scholarships for my PhD plus 15kcad personal saving
3. Even though I completed my MSc in September, my resumption would be in January. So it should not be an issue.
Overall, I think my residence status was the reason for the rejection.

If you read this page well, you will realize single applicant with full Canadian scholarship don't need a sponsor. You only complicate your financial situation with your sponsors, if they are not your parents and rich enough to afford your tuition and living expenses.

Many past single applicants with full scholarships, including myself, got their student visa with less than 1m in their account. If you don't have that saved, Your parent or siblings can transfer this to you and give you a letter of moral support, not financial support. Your sponsor is your school scholarship.
what school and course did you get your scholarship?

The knee jerk reaction to the new variant is similar to the same panic with Delta variant that led to India ban. They just punish citizens of these countries even though we all see the virus is everywhere.
I hope they lift the ban and put in place the mandatory quarantine instead. It makes much more sense.

The annoying thing with this ban for those of us still in Nigeria is that schools are already sending mails that we should take online class for January intake or defer to another intake. This will affect the date on our TRAVEL SUPPORT LETTER/ENROLMENT LETTER if you dont already have one cry cry cry cry

I feel we should write to our school about it , I can’t take online classes from outside Canada ( My school) plus someone of us can only defer once

grin grin grin. Frustration don finish you. We all here are on the quest for same thing but it's not a die or die affair unlike the way and manner you carry am. If Canada decides to close their borders till 2023 , alot of us will miss out on Admission and a chance to go there and nothing will happen. But you are so frustrated that you want to lament because of the inclusion of Nigeria by Canada as one of the country's on restriction. Carry your gorimapa frustrated head comot here

Thanks a million for this response. I very much appreciate it.

The figures were not hidden by me. The GCMS notes were delivered to me with the figures censored. I have submitted another application in which I paid my full tuition and deposited funds to cater to my living expenses throughout my study duration, 1 year. Will that address the VO's concerns?

oh, and I'm not sorry if I'm being realistic . Having all positive thoughts is good but not realistic. I'm about to pay for the visa application. All I'm also saying is that no one knows how long this restriction would be in place and schools would have no other option than to Deliver classes via Zoom. It's not what I want personally , but it's likely what will be. But the frustrated human being decided to rain curses on his bald head because he isn't able to accept the reality now until something changes which we all hope for. He should get lost , frustrated individual
