When history tells u that there are 3 major ethnic groups in Nigeria including the Igbos, u tot it was a child s play .Igbos had great population pre colonial and pre civil war. The story line was just distorted after the civil war but our influence is still far reaching. Igbos can never become a minority tribe in Nigeria. Nothing is wrong in being a minority, but just regarding Igbos as S EASTERNERS IS A WASTE OF TIME, THE FACT IS THAT IGBOS ARE VERY ILLUSTRUS AND INFLUENTIAL DURING PRE COLONIAL AND PRE CIVIL WAR ERA THAT THEIR LANGUAGE BECAMES A STICKER ANYWHERE THEY HAD DORMINANCE.

I've already worked out a plan in case war breaks out... And better still the trio are to the West geographically(Bini: west; Ịgara: North West; Izon: South West).
By the time a peace treaty is concluded, the Izon would've been driven into the sea, the Ịgara driven across the Benue river into the Nasarawa plains whilst the city of Benin burnt down and the oba sent into an eternal exile to ile ife

Later when a non-igbo says he doesn't like Igbos, people will start calling him "igbophobic", you guys are a hatefilled bunch, all you seem to dream of all day is ways to hurt other people, if the devil was a human he would probably be Igbo.

Now let us discus how you basically think you are as strong as the British empire was, because your dream seems to be about you basically doing to Benin empire's capital what the British did. The British and Benin empire fought a war and you iPod deluded fools are far from being as strong as the Benin empire or the British empire.

You guys will never make friends and quite frankly, I used to pity Igbos in the passed and I always stood by you guys when I felt others were unfair to you, but not anymore ! You guys deserve whatever you get, and stop claiming my Anioma people, we are not part of your gang of cannibals, we are part of Benin empire. All your hatred comes from the fact your ancestors used to eat humans. That cannibalism is encoded in your dna and you act it out through your hatefulness. This is the reason why nobody likes Igbos, even southern Cameroonians who used to be part of eastern Nigeria had to join Cameroon in order to not be in the same country with igbos. You guys caused a civil war, you guys go all around the world pushing drugs and making every country think all Nigerians are drug dealers...
Nobody likes you guys, maybe it is time to question your behaviour ...

Guys, while we really appreciate your great contributions. This is not really an Igbo archeological findings thread. Let us not derail this thread(It is going to be a reference sometime in the future). You can consider creating another one for that purpose. Let people that want to learn about this subject matter be throughly informed while we hope someone would be bold enough to take up the challenge to a live debate and tell us the ijaw version of Bonny history(FACTS not fiction).

Seun and his mods has all the power to lock it hide this thread. We are just letting everyone know we have rightfull claims over the territories in question. It will eventually degenerate into fisticuffs. Imagine small Ijaw of yesterday daring Igbos to go and take over Igboland from them? This kind of insults must be addressed and at the appropriate time pls.

Dear compatriot,
You sound like a young chap so let me address you like my kid bro.
While I am not in support of the post that elicited your tantrums, it is not an opportunity to regurgitate your own learned hate.

It is interesting you have been taught nobody like the igbos so early. Jealousy isn't hatred. If you tend to often excel amongst your peers even in school, you would start courting their jealousy.
If you say everyone hates igbos on nairaland, maybe. But not in the real world. It is one of the most repeated fallacies. Igbos are resident in all major cities including villages across the globe. Iam not sure the world would live comfortably or side by side with a people they hate like you claimed. Living their lives peacefully as major contributors to the growth and welfare of their different communities. Despite the clamour by a fraction of them for an independent state, they are the biggest stakeholders in the Nigerian project.

About your saying they started a war, I will not be your history teacher. But I ask you not to be the typical African. Read and open your mind. The world is not as dark as you think.

As per Anioma, I can imagine how ridiculous you would look telling Benin people they are same with Anioma or telling Anioma people they are Benin.

If anything, let this be a challenge to you to dare to be different. You can be the first in many things from your village. Africa is in dire need of heros and you could be one.

Stay away from drugs. Don't be an alcoholic. Stop listening to gossips from your uninformed neighbors especially at beer parlours.

You have access to the Internet and if you do not know what you can do with it, I can advise you.

In all this noise, did you notice you didn't find any prominent igbo man on this thread(despite the fact that you hate them). Do you know why? They are busy cutting deals and making their family proud.

As I type this one Kunle is somewhere in Oyo and wants to build the next big thing in Nigeria with Musa, he has called one Emeka to help him ship it. Emeka does it with the help of Akpan and Priye and they all go home happy after. You see, life is not as serious as you take it.

Now go and get busy!

Why claim a people who don't speak your language?
That's madness.
This is also my take on any Igbo claim on Eleme.
It doesn't make sense.

How these Izons must be wishing that these colonial records could have easily been burnt grin.
Eleme's own is a bit dicey, even though they don't speak Igboid language today, most still bear Igbo names to date. I believe it is in names that we can truly know our origins. There are Igbos from southeast (especially Lagos brought up) who don't know how to speak Igbo today, but they still got Igbo names to mark their identity. in any case, Eleme people is free to choose for themselves.

We are here to make sure Ijaw fishermen don't ever choose for Igbo people in the Niger-Delta.

LOL, I am fascinated you are doing some research. Have you asked yourself why Benin is located in Edo state an not in Zamfara?

There is something called influence due to proximity. Ancient Benin influence spread to a large part of the Niger Delta including Bonny. However, it wasn't colonialism and it didn't mean those people are Benin . It was homage that most of this communities were paying to the Benin. I have an account that detailed an instance in this influence in the far Delta, but then, I am not your history teacher.

Why do the usual Nigerian ignoramus always assume he is intellectually superior to whomever he is talking to ?
For your information, I am a mathematician who earned his degrees in France, also I am a teacher in France. Now you know I am smarter than you so you can stop beating your empty chest.

As I already stated, all precolonial maps of the region show it as being part of a precolonial country named Benin Kingdom/empire, the capital of that kingdom is called Benin city, you are obviously confusing the capital with the country itself. You clearly have a terrible grasp at history like most Nigerians. I had the luck of studying history in a country in which it actually is a serious field studied with logics rather than the Nigerian usual fairytales and politically motivated revisionism.

N.B: Edo state is located in Benin, not the other way around.

Answer to my question: most illiterates think they are geniuses because they are not exposed to higher thinking and thinkers. That is why you assumed you were my intellectual senior whereas I could probably teach the teacher of your teacher.

This explains it. You have been away for so long in France you got inebriated with their wines.Apologies to your ancestors whose inherentance is lost wherever rabbit hole you came from.
So is your map of old Benin Empire the map of a single ethnic group? Alas, you were too daft to notice it included the Eshan, Urhobo, Isoko and all other tribes (let me not even mention the anioma you claimed). I wonder how you passed your maths lesson. Well, I won't give you free history classes.

You didn't even know that " Eshan, Urhobo, Isoko" are Edo groups ! You thought you were making a point by using them as counterexamples, they are just subgroups of the Edo people. Also you need a clear definition for "ethnic" group and Nigeria doesn't have one such definition. In most modern countries, ethnic groups are defined by historical links, for example, the Edo people are those who were citizens of Benin empire, that is an ethnic group.

The map is at best a conjecture by the originators , because you and I know those areas depicted on the map to be under Bini rule were never under Bini kingdom. We know for sure Enuani was not under Bini rule.

Lol, why are you so worked up and frustrated? Because your little landgrabbing fantasy has collapsed like a pack of badly arranged cards!

You think we don't know how you desperados have been operating by impersonating real aborigines? Any ijaw in Bonny is obviously a settler as have been proved beyond every reasonable doubt!

We Igbos have done our part by helping to create awareness to our Bonny and Opobo kits and kin about who they are. We know there are thousands of Bonny and Opobo natives who are educated and enlightened, they will definitely do more research and studies on their own!

It is not just the height of insult for foreigners to impose their language on aborigines and tell them to discard their mother tongue, spoken by their forefathers but also sacrilegious!

If the Abuas of Bayelsa that share slight similarities with you ijaws can muster the courage to come out boldly and tell the world that they are not Ijaws, is the proud people of Opobo and Bonny with rich history and absolutely nothing in common with Ijaws that won't do the needful?

Common, I can bet you it's just a matter of time before they stop all your criminal landgrabbing and assaults on their heritage.
Major clown.
I showed you the document crowther and pepple sent to England, I showed you Dr koeller's report on how the igbos were only slaves there or came to sell their cash crops to the bonnys who didn't plant, I showed you the number counting system baikie assembled and you doubted it.

I had a chat with my cousin who lives in Bonny as I haven't been there since 2017 and probably thought Igbo language became the norm from that year.
I had to ask a cousin sister who lives there with her mother who is a Bonny woman.

Y'all are fools who haven't even been to Bonny before.

Also you don't really understand history, "Bini" which is not even an Edo word is a word which only means Edo people who reside in Benin city just like Parisian refers to french people who reside in Paris and New Yorker refers to American people who reside in New York, Benin empire was a country, not an "ethnic dominion". Everybody was equally under the emperor who was referred to as Oba. And all of these people were Edos.

You have problems differentiating your current
ethnic perspective with historical reality.

Lmao!!! Did you really post this yourself? Ibani and Broken igbo. What were you trying to verify.

If you want to know what language is spoken in Opobo, go and check the first page where I have just posted a video from Opobo.

I am impressed with your honesty and desire to make some findings. Unlike the other guys who claim they are from Bonny and tell us they are at the waterfront as we speak.

The name calling wasn't necessary.
