Please who has travelled to Ireland after January 5th, especially through Istanbul? Is the new rule of "no COVID test requirement" for fully vaccinated passengers being enforced? Kindly confirm please. Thanks.

General Employment Permit Application.

Hello everyone. Please my enquiry is in relation to the general Employment Permit Application process. Please has anyone done it here and received the permit? Please share your experience and also the requirements.
Please can you also specify if you applied by yourself and what the process was like?
Did you apply before you began the job or whilst on the job?
How long did it take to be issued?
Thanks for your assistance.

Hello Purplish,

I didn't travel via Turkey but I travelled from Nigeria 6th January 2022 and transited at London Heathrow, then to Dublin.

I am Unvaccinated. I uploaded negative PCR within 48hours before my travel to the airline I was using (British Airways website )

Kind regards,

Louis

Thanks Louis smiley Do you know if vaccinated people were fine to board with just proof of vaccination as the new Irish government rules say? Just want to be double sure...you know our Naija people. BTW, really appreciate all the Waterford/WIT info you shared with me last year! God bless you.

Hi Purplish,

I am not sure of vaccinated passengers requirements. I think you need to check the airline boarding requirement for all passengers flying from Nigeria.

I did PCR test because without uploading to BA website or showing the front desk staff a negative PCR result as an unvaccinated passenger during checking I wouldn't be allowed to checkin. It is among the checkin requirements of British Airways for passengers flying from Nigeria.

After you have confirmed the requirements from the airline website or call their customer care, you can then refer to Ireland travelling requirement website sent by @nitemi006 ( This can change anytime, so please make sure you check the date the information was updated on the website.)

https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/77952-government-advice-on-international-travel/

No worries. Atleast it's the little I can do.

I hope you have sorted your accommodation in Waterford? Did you still contact George for accommodation around WIT? Was he able to help you?

All the best in your study and wishing you safe flight whenever you plan travelling to Ireland.

Kind regards,

Louis

Hi All,

Please if one is trying to bring in his wife through college to speed up process of reuniting. Can anyone give advise on how and what to look out for? In terms of home tie, the husband wants to be the sponsor, which currently works in Ireland etc.

Any idea and suggestions will be granted.

Thank you.

Proof of Ties will be based on future aspirations for both - what is the plan after the wife's study -this part and finances will determine approval of their visa. Honesty and strategic explanations will be required

Hi guys. Please concerning the proof of funds, does my opening balance have to show the whole POF or my closing balance is all that matters?
For clarity, can my funds be paid into the account at anytime or it has to be there for the whole 6 months required?

She doesn’t have enough funds to sponsor me.

I have a job, I can sponsor myself. I’m just scared they might think I’m too young ( 25yra old) ]

The embassy is not concerned about your age if self-sponsoring yourself. They are concerned about your source of Income or proof of Employment and how either you or your sponsor came about the required funds.

Hi. Please did you have to pay your tuition in full for UL or you did the 50%.. I've emailed the school to confirm if they accept this but I am yet to get a response from them.

You need to pay a bulk of it 60% and above to get the visa support letter. If possible pay it completely. Visa office may frustrate you with rejection.

I paid 6500 euros out of 11,000 euro. UL gave me a visa support letter. I had planned to pay the rest immediately I got the visa. I showed the visa office that I had the balance plus living expenses in my account and some other funds in my sponsors account too. I still got refused for insufficient finance. I had to pay the balance of school fees, then purchase an education bond, then appeal the visa decision before I was granted the visa.

So to save yourself to headache, frustration and delay. Just clear all financial responsibility before applying for the visa. It helps alot

Apparently this takes 6 to 12 months . Just keep praying, if however you intend applying to other embassies you could write the Irish Embassy to send back your passport.

They finally responded today. I had asked about the instalment as well. My tuition is €16,400 but I got €1,500 merit scholarship and also paid the 600 acceptance deposit, so, that is €2,100 less. Hence, my 50% is €7,150. I need them to clarify if this tuition is inclusive of all the other student charges.
1. You are required to pay 50% of your total tuition cost. Your calculation of €7,150 below is correct.

2. The 2 instalments can be based on the remaining 50% balance.
