We don't need to do much research o how cross deals led to a lot of old people having a heart attack with Oando shares some decades ago. Oops, I hope we haven't forgotten the African Petroleum saga trying to purchase Texaco PLC (now MRS Petroleum PLC) which caused the raucous between Ote$ and Alhaji Cement then.

We should also mention the Tantalizer PLC, Tetrazinni PLC, Big Treat PLC, Starcomms PLC and all those private placements where crosses at the minimum standard to raise prices was being done to push prices up to suddenly dump them on retail investors.

No be today things don dey happen like wishy washy for Nigerian market. Things don happen for this market especially for period between 2007 and 2011 then.

Cross deals are legal, you can cross your shares to your friend, wife etc.


Most people will have their fingers burnt running after hot stocks due to the volumes of crosses without carrying out fundamental analysis

Sometimes, it could be a trap.......
Sometimes it could be a sign of good things to come in that stock......
Sometimes it could lead to increased activities and share price increase.......
Sometimes it's just cross deals, and nothing more....

I think they need to change this bulk 100k rule. Haba. So Airtel need single N160,000,000 deal to move whereas some non performing insurance stocks will move with only N200k deal. Not fair at all

That was the rule before it was made general for all stocks.....
Think it was to avert manipulations of the big cap stocks.......

Before, it was just 10,000units that can move big caps but there seems to be lots of irregularities and manipulations there.
So whosoever wants to manipulate will think twice once it's now 100k units......

One good thing about the 100k rule is that prices of big caps can't just be falling anyhow once it's up.......unlike the small caps.
