I know sir, I’m asking for the right step, to take
TAKE THE LETTER TO THEIR ZONAL OFFICE AND NEGOTIATE FINE REDUCTION IF YOU HAVE RECENT RECEIPTS OF PAYMENT OTHERWISE YOU'RE IN FOR IT EIGHT MONTHS IS A LONG TIME.

THERE WAS NO NETWORK FOR ABOUT 24HRS SO MY NEIGHBOR ADVISED I BYPASS THE METER. TWO DAYS LATER SOME TIE WEARING MEN IN A HILUX SHOWED AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE METER. GAVE ME A PAPER TO GO PAY 15K AFTER SEEING MY RECEIPTS WERE UP TO DATE. FINALLY PAID 5K. APPARENTLY, MY NEIGHBOR WAS AN UNREPENTANT WHO SET ME UP.

THEY'VE GOT RECORDS AND FINDING A DEFAULTED IS A ONLY A MATTER OF TIME

I will be straight and sharp, I don’t need any bad every response, I’ve done it already, and I want to handle it maturely. Just need advice from any one who had handled such issues peacefully that all.

Yesterday I was caught for bypassing, I wasn’t at home, so before I got back they’ve cut down my wire, my neighbor won’t let them take away the meter and wire. Immediately they called and told me, first thing I did was recharge online on the meter right away, hoping I would have a chance, but I got home now I saw they’ve opened the meter, and I’m sure our people they would have taken enough pictures of the tampered meter, some of them can even pix mix I’m for evidence.

Well they dropped a letter for me, on the letter my last recharge was written at the back stating about 8months ago, and a phone at the back.

I don’t know what to do first, any I’ve not make any move yet, but I’ve corrected the bypass meter. suggestions how best to handle it.
Don't panic!
Who thief pass nepa?
Fraudsters usually don't like their colleagues.
Just go to their office, after charging you the appropriate bill, you are free to negotiate with them, then you can proceed and pay.but avoid being rude, I am talking from experience.
And pls note: whenever you are doing by pass, ensure to disconnect from 9am-4pm because that's their official active hours.
Thank me later.

You need my help? Ok call this line: 090000149. It's a lawyer's number, he never lost a case and specialises in defending corrupted elements like criminals, fraudsters, rogues, gangsters, rapists, kidnapers, Bokoharam ISWAP, Bandits and thieves. Luckily for you, his last victory was in the case of another meter By Passer like you. He won a life imprisonment case for him to only need to spend 10 years in prison. It won't cost you more than a few millions to fly him into Nigeria from Jupiter. Thanks me later

there is no fixed price for such offense, they calculate based on your area consumption, but be ready to pay 160k upward and if u lucky they might transfer the charge on ur meter and place u on 50/50, that mean when u recharge they remove 50% from ur units to complement for the charge levied on u, but if u not lucky they place u on 100%, it means if u recharge 50k they will deduct the whole money till they recoup the charge levied on u.
Re: I Was Caught For Bypassing My Meter, What Should Be My Next Action Pls? by shegoon: 11:45am On May 25, 2022
My people can you all see where the estimated bill emanated from? The total power consumption for the community will be summed up by the transformer and share among the residence. Imagine this guy using prepaid meter bypassed not paying for power consumed, hence it will be shared for people not using prepaid. Suppose, we have like 10 people in same community practice same act, then we all start shouting "estimated bill"
In a sane country, this guy should be jailed but because of the high level of corruption nothing will happen to him, seeing from the phone number that was dropped which i presume is for negotiation.

Don't be panic. I know someone who had been caught twice.

Just call the phone number they dropped for you or go to their office (and ask of monitoring unit).

The Guy paid 50k last year when he was caught. It all depends on your state of residence. Lagos penalty fee would be more than that.

It's all about money.

Call, get billed, and pay your bills and fines. If they charge to court for theft then prepare for more.

NEPA(please add your DISCO name) is a useless establishment, yet we(I'm not included though) keep stealing electricity while good people get billed astronimically.

PHCN is a private individual's investment. By-passing the meter and using free electricity is a wicked way of destroying someone else's business. It's unfair.

As for the solution, call the phone number they left for u and negotiate with them. If u are polite with them, u will not spend more than 50k. Whatever u give them is their own pocket money because there is every likelihood they have not reported the matter to their office.

And be fast about it.

You have to meet either the meter engineer in charger of your area or the network manager, they will bill you for loss of revenue no be small money but you can negotiate after paying they will reconnect your light .

That's just it

1. They didn't remove your meter, meaning they want you to pay fine and they'd reconnect you.

2. They left a number for you to call (normal Nigeria levels na) else they'd ask you to go to office, if na that one, dem fit prosecute you.

Just call them with the number they left for you, u go pay fine and just have it at the back of your mind that, that 8 months will be added as debt on your meter. In fact, it is automatically debt already.

Lastly, don't do agidi with them, pay the fine so you can be reconnected coz if you go do agidi wey dem carry u enter office, they are likely going to remove the meter and prosecute you.

Well, I have same issue...called their people to come take a look at it...they did and tell me say meter don condemn...the thing no dey bring out light or receive token again.

He repaired some things to ensure it brings out light...but I am not buying anything for it since then. I just wish I could order for another new prepaid. Coz I dey reason dem go come one day, but before that day comes...make i no carry fine...i don tire jare. The personnel said there are many like that in town with condemned prepaid meters. I don't know why such prepaid brands no dey last.

ravensckar:
Bros, don't make that mistake of going to their office, e go be for you. There's a reason why they put that number there, so that you can call and reason with them like men. Perhaps they haven't even reported the case to their Oga with the expectation that you'll settle then and they will close their mouth.

A similar thing happened to me last year. I moved into a new apartment with a tampered meter. Since I didn't want to be a good Nigerian, meself join in the jamboree. Six months down the line, the matter cast and Baba Dem show face. The first thing that impressed them was that I didn't argue nor spoke any fanciful English word. Neither did I panicked as well. That level of confidence was heavenly. Las las, I roger them 40K and they looked the other way while I rectified it. Sometimes we just have to man up and face our issues without being unnecessarily afraid.

Sha don't claim right and don't be afraid. Na settlement dem go chop. cheesy cheesy cheesy

70k is too high naw. Let him call the number behind or ask for the set if persons who came to disconnect his light. If it was the marketer and maybe some other person, he may just spend 20-30k but if it was a joint task force, it will be 120k
leomarz007:
If a contact was written via pen at the back on the paper. No fear.. Dial the no and hear what the person have to say first before you can negotiate. It would cost u around 70k if u bargain well
