Yes! I know you are eager to find out which company has such job opening. The truth is NONE!!!

*No job can ever guaranty you 100% even if it own buy your best friend or close relative as one day the relationship might dwindle and either you get fired or your willingly resign.

*There's No job that gives you a steady monthly salary increase. The more you work, the more you earn is usually pay policies in companies. You are only expected to get an increase accordance to your promotion and the truth is, promotions come only on the average on once a year.

Whether you like it or not, the only job that can guarantee you all the above mentioned and lots more is when you take that risk today and become your own boss.

The the Employer and not the employee.

Be the payer and not the payee.

Be the one to Hire and not the person to get Fired.

Be the person to jump off the bed in the morning eager to go to the office and not the one who hated weekdays and shouted Thank God Its Friday (TGIF).

As the days passes by, more companies are folding up, merging, downsizing, and sacking their staff. From Banking, Telecoms, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Hospitality, Manufacturing and the entire Private and Public owned business sectors, people are loosing their jobs each second at the slightest excuses.

Companies are maximizing cost and minimizing expenses (staff salary and allowances inclusive).

At a point in our lives the Banking, Hospitality, Telecoms, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas were all booming sectors, but like the saying goes, "change is the only constant thing in life"

Follow the 80/20 Principul and be guaranteed of a happy life forever.

I'll be following this thread for ur consulting advices and will try to see where I got it wrong.

This is a very noble thing you've done here.God bless you.There are a lot of young folks out there who are very much interested in starting up a business of theirs but due to one obstacle or the other their ideas have not seen the light of day.
Wwhat kinda business is suitable for an undergraduate with a capital of 100k?
Re: The Entrepreneur's Manual by Nobody: 11:17am On Jul 13, 2012
if businesses are folding up and downsizing like you say, what then is the point in starting a business? Against these odds?...
Well, i'm all for entreprenuership but not with all these popular choices that everybody seems to be mouthing nowadays, recharge cards, forex, all that generic internet business ish. If everybody get into it, surely the profit margin drops. So, why don't you advise about unusual, obscure, even unpopular businesses? Now that would be refreshing.

maybe we all can start by listing like 20 to 30 ventures that can be started with less than say N250k, then proceed to discussing the pros and cons of each, and finally wrap things up with business/marketing plans for the top 10 ?

Dear People,
I will answer as much questions as I can (may not be too detailed though because I am not too free right now)

@BoboYekini,
The fact that businesses keep failing everyday is no reason why anyone should loose hope in starting on.

Banks sack everyday yet people roll over each other to get a job in the bank.

NDLEA catches people everyday yet people take the risk of smuggling drugs everyday.

I gave the above examples because you absolutely have control over the situtaionunlike being a business owner where with proper planning and strong positive mind set, you can operate your business over 50years.

In this my lectures, I will NOT talk about the internet money making business. Not that I don't believe in it but I will rather let people get trained on 'real life' (touch and feel) mode of business. More people have gotten their hands bitten in the internet business than any other sector.

@Super1759,
Its not all about attending seminars and exhibitions. It is about PRACTISING it. It like a man who is an expert driver in video game car racing and jumps in a car, starts the ignition and wants to zoom off. Bearing in mind that he as never driven a car.

Though its a good thing you have a good knowledge of the nitty gritty of being an Entrepreneur, but it takes only 'action' to attain that success and dream you crave for.

@Yamakuza,
That's a huge one naming up to 20 business ventures but this is what I will do, I will try and name as many REALISTIC businesses one can startup with N250,000 or less. The pros and cons of each will come in subsequent responses.

Please Note that some of the above stated job description fits perfectly for both sexex and also most of them are SERVICE delivery and (NOT) PRODUCT delivery.

The difference between the two is that Service delivery needs very meager startup capital as you won't need much money to start it up.

Life in general is risking so it isn't different from starting up a business.

3 key things you need before starting a business is;
*Believe in yourself
*Have a Dream and Stick to It
*Determination and Will to Succeed

3 key areas you should get to know about the basic knowledge are;

*Accounting (Financial Knowledge)
*Management
*Customer Satisfaction

3 unavoidable processes are;
*Sales and Marketing (will explain the difference later)
*Brand (Development and Strategy)
*Legal (no business is too small to understand the legal backing and have one).

This is a good trend, honestly all you need is the will and passion for success. Other things will start falling in place. To the list, egg retailing is a good business

From what i can see, the business above needs you having a good knowledge of each (even if not all). you dont have to be a pro though.
Now learn the basic even if its the graphic design and web designing. then if you have jobs on the video editing and photography, you can out source it to a person who you believe is very good in that area.

Dont wait until you rent an office space before you should kick off. You could actually start it in your room.

You will be expected to meet most of your clients in their houses and offices and not the other way round.

3 main thing you need;
* Get the knowledge of the basic things you want to be handling yourself
* Find out the best place to get you prospective clients
* Dont procastinate......START NOW.

Leasing isn't a bad idea.
You can try out car hire service.
A regular nice tokunbo vehicle which is well neated and with a/c can actually get lots of clients who are in need of your service.
