Yup. Every human on this green earth has got an appendix. It's part of our anatomy. It's useless in the body and is part of an evolutionary cycle that left useless parts in the modern human. Parts like thymus, tail bone, appendix etc.
Once the appendiceal inflammation is subsided, u don't need the antibiotics again. Your dad doesn't need to depend on it again, unless it reoccurs. I have personally managed many patients with subacute appendicitis without resorting to surgery. And of course good antibiotics have been around even from those days.
