I’m facing the same ordeal too..Most car dealers on Nairaland and Jiji are not honest..They are just selling dead cars. That’s why I became too careful…which of the good car dealer on Nairaland can you recommend..At this point I don’t mind shipping and waiting for my car as far as the car is great

Well search for Amdman

He's been in the game for long and has built a good reputation

You are good to go. Check that the mileage (Odometer) corresponds or closely corresponds with info provided below. Check for oil leaks underneath the car. If "check engine" light is static (on), run a simple OBDII scan. If you get the message "Catalyst converter below threshold" either bank 1, bank 2 or 3, you have yourself a vehicle with removed catalist converter what the local mechanics call "indomie". Lastly verify that the first body and paint is still intact. If I'll buy a 2007 Corolla for over 3M, I'll pay attention to these details. Good luck.
Thank you very much sir. I have purchased the car.

[Can a custom officer accompany some one to purchase a vehicle from cotonu and successful cross the border with the car to nija?
quote author=Crusadee post=114692771]Bros you need to calm down and go back home, with ur gentle search in PH u can get what you are looking for. U are talking about Seme border, most of the cars there are smuggled from cotonu, when you buy a smuggled car from cotonu e no go pass badagry ooo, customs go seize am B4 e reach agbara. And even buying the car in Lagos how sure are you with the customs papers? The cheaper it is the more likely there's a problem. And if you buy any car with fake papers whether you know it or not customs don't care ooo, they are waiting for you in Benin toll gate and alot of patrol teams B4 u leave south west. Bros go back home and settle down take a deep breath, take your time you can still get in pH. I know the problems with tokumbo cars and customs on the road of which u don't seem to have any idea.
A Customs officer can do that, but I don't advice you to do that, it will be cheaper for you to buy a car already with duty paid in the seaport, coz as it is now no duty can be paid for any vehicle that was brought in through the borders, don't forget when the officer help you bring in the car you are the one that will use it within Nigeria and there are interland patrol officers the fact that you register your car won't stop customs from checking your papers, and once it's fake they will definitely catch you coz they usually check in the system confirm it's originality, so I advice you to be on a safer side avoid cotonu motor. I m a Customs officer I once work in Seme border sometimes ago. Take my advice and live without regrets.

The more I delay the higher the price of the car due to foreign exchange. As at February 2022, a clean tokunbo was worth between 2.3 and 2.5m. Now you can't find that same grade for 3m.

Modified: to clear the car few months ago was about 400 to 600k.
Now clearance cost 1.2m.

I have asked everywhere the same think.
clearance now is 850k

Please how can someone find a agent. Is it true the platform.... Thanks

No offense sir, what you did is the most foolish thing you could have done. You could have done all these online before lifting a muscle. the kind of car you need is available in lots of quantities and also in your specification. thank yours stars you've not bought anything cos u would have been scammed.

Now to solution:

1. Go to , check.ng, cars45.com all these places have all you need.
2. Find an agent not a dealer tell him to find u a car in your budget but make sure you cut your budget by 40%. For example, if you can splash 3,400,000.00 on a car tell the agent that you have 2.5m-3.2m for a clean toks Toyota corolla. You will get cars and lots of them that are more than your spec. The agent will likely bring cars that are around your original budget.
3. You've done step 3 by coming to Nairaland.

Good luck.[/quote]
