Ok I get you

But it's hard getting remote foreign jobs in Nigeria

Most are explicitly stated, you must be living in certain countries

Freelance. Start-up will usually be slow but once you've picked up momentum and experience on how to gain clients you'll possibly be earning even more than those developers abroad in Nigeria. Surely I don't have to describe how uniquely advantageous such a condition is.

When I was looking for my first dev job, I used to check how the job market in other African countries were and honestly aside South Africa, Nigeria has the highest number of vacancies out there. A lot of jobs we look down on here in Nigeria you won't even see to do in these countries. Africa is doomed. I knew this 2 years ago when I was job hunting. A whole African country will have only 80 jobs. A village in Canada will have 10000 new jobs lol.

No dey talk, this kind talk.

Japa and leave us alone.

The fact remains that in life, after God, it's government.
The government of a country greatly determines how a country is/will be.
How a country is determines how comfortably we worship, we start business, we do business, we travel and have leisure, even the confidence to invest.

In Myanmar, the Rohinginya Muslims don't worship easily, in China, the Buddhists of Tibet don't worship easily.

In Nigeria can't easily start a business without one illegal payment or the other.

Hahaha.

Virtually all companies in Nigeria would have suffered decreased revenues if their Revenues are translated to Dollars.

Why do I say dollars? Because of an international Partner decides to do business, that's usually one primary consideration.

The idea that one can do well against the backdrop of a failing economy is laudable but not sustainable. Your country casts a huge backdrop over ones success.

An export focused shoe company in Italy can start on the same day with another export focused Nigerian shoe company — both with the same capital BUT the Italian is already ahead (reputationally) because of the backdrop Italy creates globally as a fashion haven.

The same negative backdrop can be adduced to the Nigerian Project.

What do u think is the reason?

US doesn't export tech pros anywhere.

You cannot pay them.

Instead, the rest of the world is coming to the United States to earn greener pastures.

Are u sure?

The USA exports talent globally.

If Naija want a pro USA dev, for huge bucks, won't he come?

The biggest reason is TRUST deficit.

It derives from 2 things.
The average(not all) Nigerian lacks integrity & is incompetent.
Since leadership derives from societal values, it becomes clear at leadership levels too.

Trust capital is one of the most underrated virtues that drives a society's fortunes.

You actually believe Zuckerberg and others would have amounted to shit in this badly led nation?!! Please, on what grounds?!!

Is it an inventor's job to safeguard the roads and highways?!!
Will the inventors build bridges and keep the roads functional?!!!

Will they also unite their nations so that extremists like those who killed Deborah won't chop their heads off?!!

Will they be the ones to stabilize the economy such that purchase of materials needed for their research won't cost them their livers?!!

Guy man in this country Linda Ikeji blow, Asake blow. Let's horn our talents and also make good use of our time.

For the Average African man including me, we love women and sex so much + fun.

Africa is a fun continent for now.

Guys with Mack Zuck skill for Naija are not hungry.

Guy u just talk some truth. Some Nigerians will not understand.

For eg. We have lots of big importers with goods stuffed in their ware houses for eg. If they give some of these goods to guys to hustle up and return money when they make sells, lots of guys will make money. But it won't happen cos of trust.

No be only govt be our problem.

We get our own for body.

Our nature is our real problem.

Poverty will be reduced in Nigeria if we are trustworthy.

That's precisely my plan. I'm not going anywhere. One would think that $100K in the U.S.A is real money but by the time you pay the government like $40K in taxes, house mortgage/Apartment, meals, fuel and all, you'll realize that you've got nothing.

Yea taxes are a bitch , you will still get taxed on the US side tho unfortunately.

Yes o, things are very hard in Ghana. Inflation rate is like twice ours. Serious unemployment and a host of economic issues. Their government is also very broke. I schooled in Ghana, when I gained admission a dollar was equal to a cedi. When I left, one dollar was equal to 5 cedis. Right now its 8 cedis to one dollar. 800 percent currency devaluation under 10 years. Africa is doomed even South Africa has serious economic problems at the moment and thats the best country in Africa

The caucasians are leaving South Africa in droves, the crime rate in SA is troubling so there's capital/investment flight as the country is plunged deeper into economic woes.

DrLevi:

Lol.. have you been to the travel section?

Devs right now are Nigeria's most valuable HR export add an experience in fintech with a major bank and you'll understand that the article is very authentic

Amazon will be here next week to interview more devs, and more companies will follow.

Even on twitter the other day, there was a joke about throwing a stone in Hull University and it would be sure to hit a Nigerian ex-bank staff and many said it was true
