‘Obituary’: Sam Omatseye Alleges Death Threats From Obi’s Supporters by Maxymilliano(op): 7:40pm On Aug 02, 2022

A seasoned journalist, Sam Omatseye, has alleged that supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, were issuing death threats against him.

This is coming a day after he published an opinion piece in The Nation, titled ‘Obi’.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Omatseye asked Obi to call his supporters to order, adding that the LP presidential candidate will be held responsible if anything happened to him.

He tweeted, “Mr. Peter Obi, call your supporters to order. They are calling and issuing death threats. If anything happens to me, you will be held responsible!”

In his opinion piece, published on Monday, Omatseye had described Obi as a shelter for miscreants.

The essay partly read, “Obi has turned out to be an excuse for even closet Biafrans to betray open emotions about Biafra without being accused of it.

"This includes intellectuals who did not show mercy to him while he reigned in Anambra as a pharisaic chief executive. It is like wearing a colour beneath another colour. Obi has become a shelter for both miscreants and activists of the crowd.”

Comparing Obi to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Omatseye had accused the former Anambra State governor of using religion as a bait in the forthcoming elections.

The column read, “He (Obi) is therefore using religion as a bait. He is now on a weekly pilgrimage to churches. Jonathan did the same. The pastors, ever opportunistic, see him as a darling.

“He is visiting a sectional hue of pews. This is the man who divided the church in Anambra State in his time between Catholics and the others.”

The PUNCH had reported that Obi had received a massive welcome at the 100,000-capacity Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja, when he visited last Friday.

What is bad in Ibos having a presidential candidate. Is Tinubu not a yoruba agenda of supporting Buhari a known failure into power, making Nigeria the poverty capital of the world to pave way for him. He even quoted that if Buhari presented a nepa bill as certificate , Yorubas would vote for him. Did you not vote for a certificateless man as an agenda to present someone whose certificate were kidnapped by unknown soldiers? Akitu is also a fulani agenda to keep power in the north. Kashim Shettima is a Kanuri Agenda to get Boko Haram to the corridors of power...d if anything happen to asiwaju to take power. So what's bad in Ibos having an agenda?
