I would not have taken it seriously if not for CBN being the one raising the issue. The issue was raised as stated in the story, but how it could materialize was not included in the story.
With recent events, I don't even take CBN serious again....
Why should CBN be raising alarm instead of looking for ways to protect commercial banks, see what Commercial banks are/can do differently to continue to stay relevant in their lanes, etc??
CBN is as confused as confusion itself......cant be trusted with their outbursts. Likely a false alarm.

There are urgent deals worth more than 10% while the loan gives you some leeway to crystalize the loan to a longer term facility

Its not for investment purpose...
Its strictly for emergency purpose....
And you know you can clear it back ASAP...
Its way better and cleaner than all those Fintech that harrass their clients..
Agba explanation is also another dynamics ...

.But is the company still active in the country?
grin grin grin grin grin
This question got me thinking for sometimes now....
So I searched for the shareholding structure of UNILEVER Nigeria and I discovered that:
** In 2015, UNILEVER overseas made a tender offer to shareholders to raise their holdings from initial 50% to current 75%+ @N45.50....
*** 75.96% holdings belongs to UNILEVER Overseas
*** 5.01% representing 287.5M belongs to STANBIC Nominees Limited...
*** Remaining 19.03% is free float

Though UNILEVER insists that they do not intend to delist from NSE, but I just thought......Should there be any more accumulation from Unilever overseas to increase their holdings in future, then maybe Unilever Nigeria may be a candidate of delisting in near future....
Especially with the rate at which profits were being eroded by inflation coupled with high costs of purchasing raw materials....

** Please note: I never said UNILEVER is delisting oooo, just looking at the probability of their continuity as listed company in NGX**
** My amateurish findings may be wrong though**

lol! Good job madam. Everything is shown on the chart though. If the company cannot pay her shareholders' dividends anymore, then it's as good as gone! For now, it's struggling to survive.

Let's see how smart monies will react on its all time low...

Thanks boss for responding to my post.

Overseas Company lost significant value already...
* In June 2015 when the tender offer was made, N43 Billion was staked on 944.47Million units @45.50 per share..
* Fast track to Nov 4, same share price closed @N10!!

** If they're to acquire the remaining 19.03% representing 1,093,271,431 free float, it can't even cost them half of that N43B to get it done with......well, together with 5.01% of STANBIC Nominees, it's not even up to the 25% self... smiley

Anyway, some smart monies showed up @9.80 on Thursday.
We'll see how the stock fares in the short to long run...

https://www.nairaland.com/7418200/usa-moves-checkmate-dollar-stockpile

This may lead to depreciation of the dollar against the naira. Most of our politicians that have kept dollars in their homes for a long time would take them to the banks to avoid the sanctions. Then, the laws of demand and supply will creep in as dollars would be much in circulation.

Nigeria Banking Sector: Analyzing Afrinvest 2022 Performance And Outlook
Theme: Brace for Impact

This is suggesting Q4 will pull down bank earnings. Will it impact dividends ? This Q4 earnings pull down may cause share prices to dip further over the next 9 months (i.e. during 2022 Q4 & 2023 H1). The trigger for this 2022 earnings pull back is increasing bank operating hours due to change in currency causing banks to expend more opex. Umh Mr Market over to you as you have a mind of your own grin

By the way. I think this analyst is unduly pessimistic. As it's only a few selected branches that will be open. Hence the impact on OPEX will not be that much.

Wonderful, dollars from 1914 till date still legal tender. The US economy is very robust.

With the above, there will be no consolation for the naira.
