Omapere from the look of things, I can deduce that they are on Feb/March application for join family. Meaning you should get decision soon.
FfeJ, pls third digit. Five zero what? They will soon get to May too.

It’s 501, I really hope they get to us soon, the wait is unbearable.

Nothing yet, I just want to know if they are even making decisions on Join family visa so I can estimate the time I may get a decision for my husband’s application. No one is saying anything. How can they update 50 decisions and non are join family. When students are no longer applying, so what exactly is stoping them from attending to family?

Many of them were JFV! If uou look at some numbers that follow each other and all were the same decision, you can deduce that those ones were from one family. Our application numbers also follow the same pattern. Based on the numbers though, hopefully they should get to April and then May.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Some of the '49' numbers are most likely Join family.

Also, I submitted early March, no decision yet.

I agree. Some of them are definitely JFV!

If its actually like this UK processing it is with Ireland embassy abj, most people here won't be in 9ja now. Sometimes, you wonder what's wrong, what they are checking for 10,12 months, why the delay... The thinking no dey finish. I believe UK embassy 9ja have more application, covid is no more a factor. Just keep hoping and praying, this is the reality.

That’s the crazy part. What is it exactly they are doing with our application for months. Other countries with the same application procedure are not going through this dreadful timeframe. Something is wrong somewhere. Someone once typed here that we should not show desperation in our application, that alone goes to show how strict they are with their approval rate. Why will I not show I am desperate to have my family over to live with me. What kind of discrimination is this! Doesn’t even make sense what they are doing in Abuja.

The thought of not even sure when it will come or what the outcome will be is killing. I am not quiet sure how this predicament can be resolved but am just trying to keep hope alive.

As someone who has been through the process, here is my take.

There is no amount of pressure that anyone or group exerts will make the embassy change. Its the bitter truth. There is no amount of research i didn't do or is it the TDs i wrote to?

Two Irish embassies that have been flagged for advanced scrutiny for visas are Nigeria and Pakistan. More recently, Russia. For them its not a delay, its the normal process.

What triggered this were incidents of abuses perpetuated by Nigerians in the past. Fake marriages, fake dependents …especially children. And ireland is extremely protective of children.

Because they pay child benefit above the UK and many European countries, they are very careful admitting families with children.

There are multiple social welfare packages for people with family status. A lot of them are accessed under means test. And so when a sponsors income falls under the means test, such will qualify for welfare. Am not talking 1 or 2 welfare…. In some cases 4 or 5 simultaneous welfare support. It was grossly abused and still being abused. Not only by Nigerians, even the Irish themselves. But among Non-EU residents, Nigerians top the list. Yet, Nigerians make a smaller percent of Non-EU country members admitted into the state. They admit more Chineses, Indians, Brazilians, Americans, than Nigerians. Those people don't queue behind welfare.

Since they cannot change their system because of Nigerians abusing it, they decided to become strict on issuing visas. And by law embassies have a right to modify their visa issuing requirement with or without notice and also a right to disclose or not disclose the parameters for determining an approval or denial.

I even got to know that a particular VO if you talk to him about a visa applicant, thats an automatic denial. I know people who know them. They are not spirits. They are humans and have far or near connections to Nigeria. They know what is happening. They have heard all we are saying here….

For those in Ireland, you already know they dont rush anything in this country. Nothing is urgent.

The current processing time is 10 months to deter people with families from emigrating here. Simple.

My advice:
If your marriage is genuine (believe it or not, there are still lots of people applying for jfv with fake marriage and children) and sponsors income is above all the means test for your family size, you will get your visas.

Before then get busy on other things and the time will pass…. Don't allow the wait become painful or even damage your family please…

May God bless you for this post, it’s like you were listening to my conversation with my husband yesterday. Thank you for speaking the bitter truth. Abeg, I take God beg anybody that is coming to Ireland to add to what some of our people are already doing here, to please think of the people who are going through this process with no other intentions but to be with their loved ones. Think about our people abeg! It is wrong in so many levels, and we are all suffering from it. Look at what is happening in the UK currently! Please the abuse of their generosity needs to stop! I understand say Nigeria no dey try at all, but for the country that are trying, make we still dey give them the respect. They don’t ask for much, all they ask for, is you come in with pure intentions and to build your self and their society with them. The influx of Indians into Ireland is shocking, but the truth remains, they come here to build for themselves and contribute big time to the society, not to take. This application process will only get worse if we can’t help ourselves. Please, let’s do better for ourselves. Abeg!

Well said. If what you said is true, then it's actually unfortunate. Are you saying, when they receive the application under jfv, they just keep them somewhere unattended to on purpose so as to discourage Nigerians? These Nigerian sponsors are people that have genuine jobs, valid CSEP and want to bring their spouse/with children.
They recruit our midwives, nurses, IT guys only to make them suffer when it's time to bring their spouse. This is not fair. I can tell you that in Ireland, you hardly find Indian, Filipino Midwives, they come as nurses and Ireland need Midwives, so they recruit from Nig, Ghana, Malawi etc and they know these people are most likely married. Malawian, Zimbabweans don't have this issue of delay though. These people pay their taxes and also contribute to Ireland and shouldn't be made to suffer this delay.

Or u saying the processing which takes for example 10 months is normal when others get it in few weeks? They don't rush anything but does that explain the disparity between the processing time from India for example and that from Nig? I just think decisions can be faster, the delay doesn't change anything, it only bring pain, pressure on genuine marriages. It's unfortunate genuine marriages are suffering what is caused by fraudulent people who are trying to cheat the system. We hope the embassy can do something at least to relieve applicants of the pain they go through as a result of the delay.

I think there are better ways for them to weed out the trolls and no-good applications than subjecting everyone to a 10 month wait. I understand they may be inundated with tons of applications and all applications have to be processed, so it can be demoralizing as a VO to open an application and see dubious content and for several applications on end. So to discourage such people from even applying they delay all the applications?. While I support a thorough process, I think whatever they are doing in those 10months to admit the right people could be achieved in far less but even if they have genuine reason to wait this long, they should let us know this time frame officially prior to application. I mean someone here was rejoicing recently on receipt of good news of his family reunification saying he couldn’t wait to hold his son in his arms for the first time since he was born. Im sorry but If I were in his shoes, I would be upset, cos after a 10 month wait, I would have already missed his first walking steps or learning to call me dada. These are things you never get back and all because I was working and paying taxes (without recourse to public funds) to make Ireland a better country while such son was subjected to months without their father cos somehow someone with same country as daddy’s passport decided to shoplift cereal funds at the benefits center. If they really care about children they should find better ways to kick out the bad eggs instead of making us all suffer. Perhaps set a 20 year rule before Nigerians can claim benefits. I don’t think the genuine Nigerians care about any benefits, we just want to work hard, pass through this life and have the ones dearest to us by our side at all times. Many of us or family members have exceptionally clean records in other host countries before coming to Ireland and to be painted with the same brush as the majority of benefit hunters that hold the same passport is grossly unfair. Why subject us all to this grueling torture? You can’t treat a person unfairly because he holds the same passport as a few psychos. There are psychos in every country. Nigerians have also contributed immensely to Ireland’s growth over the years where is our kudos for that? Why focus on the negatives to make life difficult for those who intend to help grow the country?
Secondly, If they made this information about a 10 month wait clear on the Irish embassy websites in Nigeria perhaps we would know what to expect and so plan on how to keep our families sustained within that time frame rather than getting disorganized due to being given an unrealistic expectation of reunification and being kept in the dark about its progress. .

Anyone have any idea if the Embassy in Nigeria is still processing visa applications following the security alerts? And by the way, I saw they just posted new decisions a few minutes ago and the rejections are staggering. Don’t see any JF looking numbers though.

Should we expect we would be informed if they stopped or took the applications elsewhere for processing?

Honestly those rejections are worrying. I have the same question, but since there are still updating their decisions, it’s safe to say they are still processing applications. If anyone heard or know of the current state of the embassy please do let us know.

Saw this post from a Facebook user today (picture below), celebrating speedy processing in UAE, and what can I say?

Just a word of encouragement for us still waiting for JF reunification from Irish Embassy, Nigeria. Hang in there and don’t lose spirit. There is really no real reason to explain why we are treated like this, but delay is not denial. Hang in there compatriots, wish you all a sound reunification.

I would also like to know how long your waiting time was? Did you marry your spouse after he got to Ireland or before? Does he have a CSEP as well?

21 decisions today. 21!!!! Non are JFV decisions. What are these people actually doing with our application at this point? Cuz it’s not making sense. If they don’t want to deal with families then scrap the whole category and focus on others. These people do not care about families, especially the ones that are from Nigeria and Ghana. For the system in Ireland to not see anything wrong in this procedure is quite unsettling. I can never advise any family to go through this emotional rollercoaster. Your family’s time with you is precious, every second of it. So if you have other countries in mind please look into them instead.

Good choice. If this is their goal they have finally achieved it, but leaving families in the dark not knowing their faith is inhumane.
