You’ve hit the nail on the head. All this talk about inverters, cost of internet, smart energy… bla bla bla misses the mark by wide margins. I don’t live abroad because of internet or power supply… I do so because I prefer to live in a sane environment, where rules exist, not a lawless zoo. I choose to live in a predictable society, where schools work, and are mostly free, healthcare is readily available, the fire service functions, and government offices don’t take 50 years + bribes to produce a passport.

I choose to get a home on a predictable mortgage, knowing full well I own that home from the sweat of my brow, not through illegal government contracts. I choose to live in a society that allows me to freely travel anywhere I wish, where my passport is not a source of disgrace, and I am always within arms length of prompt service from the foreign consulate if I need them. I choose a society where public transport is a breeze and where we can go on road trips through the country without any fear of kidnapping, armed robbers or police checkpoints.

Far more than money, I value peace of mind… and Nigeria isn’t it.

Pls ignore these people they’re so pained they cannot leave that shit hole and so jealous of people going abroad

And Yes people living abroad should simply stop converting dollar to naira, it's not a fair game.
That poster goofed big time, 500k is a big salary in Nigeria.
The problem with Nigeria is inflation. We spend too much on food and basic things.
no be 'that poster', na Nosa111 be him name/moniker..lol..and he didn't even say 500k is small salary, he said 500k can't feed family of 4 in a month! so you can correctly guage the level of ment. I checked out his threads, even took some screenshots as he fit deny am, that nigga was still in Naija as recent as July, and prolly still is in Nigeria. Na their type go land JFK and pick up fake accent within two weeks. I can even still forgive Twoods, even tho the bros just likes to argue for argument sake touching like 20 topics at once instead of the focal topic of the argument (I guess he didn't know that I back up my words/points) but understandably he has been out of the country for a while, I reckon, so he may not be up to date on some things, but you see Nosa, that nigga is prolly still in Naija as we speak. Lol

Fact is, the topic of this thread will have two answers. Expecting everyone to sleep and face the same place is stupid. Some will feel it isn't worth it based on their present circumstances and all things considered, and some will feel it is worth it based on all this too. I can move abroad, but under very concrete circumstances that I am very clear on. So all the BDC calculations and dignity of labour rhetoric doesn't sway me at all. Of course, yes comparing Naija to first-world countries is absurd, however, don't automatically assume anyone that isn't worshipping the first-world country or agreeing to a certain point means the person is saying Nigeria is better. It is illogical GNS101.

For example Twoods came and dropped a statistic and I am better informed on that subject. You have left, I am here. I said this stat is wrong. If it had ended there, it would have ended there. But no, in arguments like this, the avg Abroadarian feels he/she knows more than you and everything they say is right. Which is bollocks! As a person, I choose my words very carefully and don't say things I can't back up, plus you don't get to where I am today without having something upstairs. I may not have lived in other countries, but I have visited them. Someone like Sukkot has lived in many. Once someone challenges your point of view, you just go into one kin mode wey no make sense, it gets worse when they now see facts and go even more berserk. It is infantile. We can have fact-based discussion and learn without hard feelings or unnecessary pride holding on to wrong viewpoints. Cheers!

PS: A short guide to the art of arguing on point! Imagine, you are on Who wants to be a millionaire and the 100million naira question is 'Which of these countries has the cheapest internet:

B. UK

D. Canada

The simple answer is A. The answer doesn't care if your internet is high speed and is connected to 100 UHD TVs. The answer is simply A. That is how to argue on point. Let's hope at least one person here learns this today.

The question should be who have the highest minimum wage and stop comparing bills to make you feel like you are enjoying in Nigeria. If you want to really live comfortably in Nigeria you will spend beyond that. Person when Dey suffer go Iya Basiri go buy beans and bread for 500naira you wan use am compare person when go Mr. Biggs buy food for 3500naira(4.4$). Both of them are Nigerians, but the first is suffering or managing. You can buy the same food in Canada with the same 4.4$ Or less sef.

Internet bills in Canada or use is around 30$-50$ (about 24-30k in naira) and that covers everything for the month and work is always available to get the money, except you are lazy and not want to work. For Nigeria most people spend above similar amount or above that especially those using MTN.

And yes!, we will keep on converting Dollar to naira and keep on comparing because it affects our economy. Dollar affect petroleum cost, housing, food, clothing, transportation and anything you can think.

The fact is the poorer your country, the less you spend and the less minimum wage. That doesn’t mean you are progressing my guy!

See another Nigerian . Culled from nairaland. Please advise on what I can do
Got to the UK a month ago by the assistance of a care company, which they paid for everything, with 3yrs visa and told me before coming that if I have to leave the company I will pay back £6,000. I have done the job as a domiciliary carer for a month and I say it is not easy, I am always tired & stressed from the walking in between clients' houses. Now I am thinking of getting another job, maybe in a care home. I am just confused and don't know what to do right now

Only come in for good education in STEM courses and top Jobs if you can afford it or scholarships .don't sell everything in Nigeria .This another from nairaland .didn't sign any contract with them. They gave me a 5 years COS, no relocation package or anything. I have been staying in an hotel with my family since I arrived and getting a place has been very difficult and the company said they can do nothing about it except giving me reference if a landlord accepts and no landlord is willing to accept us right now except we pay 6 months upfront or have stayed up to 6 months in the UK. It's like they want to get rid of me and are looking for any flimsy excuse to do so

Another Japarains.Hello guys. I posted about driving bruhaha where I worked. Although my company advised me to apply for a provincial license which I have done, I noticed they have been very cold towards me since then. They find fault in everything I do and threaten to send me home at any slight instant. They are delibrately frustrating me. I get accused for things I didn't do and I am not given a chance to defend myself. Currently I trek several miles daily to see clients because my company said I can only buy a car until I get my pass my driving test and I can't use my international license. They paid me without a pay slip and wen I requested they ignored. I was threatened that I will be sent home if any report comes about me. I am tired. I just called another company who are willing to sponsor me after an interview.

My question. Can I go with the new company because I have only worked for a month with my current company. What about my dependents, do they need to apply as

Another .Reality dawning already meanwhile the journey ahead is still very far. In as much as your job is domiciliary care, pls let’s take driving as a priority. I have my UK license already but I still have some Nigerian colleagues that trek to clients houses in this stupid cold weather. The job is not easy at all. Some of us invested millions of naira in this journey, it saddens me to read that someone is threatened because he fed a dog 3 times instead of 2. As many of us are in this, I pray we overcome this. If this is the price to pay, then we will pay it. It’s only a phase and it will pass.

The art of dumb illogic and the glorification of empty noisemaking… which of those countries has the cheapest cost of education. The answer is A as well… good luck with ASUU strikes…

This is the same thing as comparing wages between Nigeria and the US by simply converting the exchange rate without taking purchasing power into account.

This is more empty drivel, loud noise anchored on zero logic.

You use yourself as a single anecdote to represent a country of over 200 million. As I asked earlier - which you have studiously refused to address, how many Nigerians earn N500k per month? Yes that can feed a family of 4… so what? A family of 4 here can eat better on a McDonald’s salary here… nothing special.

The strength of a society isn’t measured on how well a tiny minority can eat, but on how it takes care of it base poor. You don’t feed better than the average poor person here bro… for all your chest thumping.
