Mine was the day I boarded a bus from Lagos to Owerri. I sat at the front seat number two ( the VIP position) at a point when we approached Benni bypass, this driver started doing 165km/hr.

My uncle once told me that anything above 125 km/hr is death sentence.

I had to point the speedometer for the driver to see, and he was laughed it off and told me to forget that thing.

Another experience was when talking a car to Lagos from Owerri.

The driver I paid to drive me was experienced. We arrived that same Benin, and this guy did 210 km/h, it was like the fuel was zapping and the exhaust sound was light.

Dem no born any other car make e pass us, but I was surprised to see a man in his Hyundai passed us.

I guess that one was doing about 240 km/h.

I had to tell him to reduce and not cross 120km/h and above.

Share your experience and advise to people who would want to do that one day.

I advise drivers to lower their speed. Speed kills.

The first one happened in 2016, while my second experience was in 2019.
I was traveling from Benin to Port Harcourt back in 2010. I was able to catch the last bus out from Benin that day. I was in the back seat. So I don't know what that speedometer was reading, but all I know was that a journey of 2hrs 45mins thereabout was shortened to barely 55mins. Everybody in that bus was too stunted to utter a word throughout the journey when we got to waterlines park in ph one of the women in the bus just sat on the ground crying profusely. Some drivers are real daredevils. Godforbid!!! I avoid that particular transport line like a plague till this day.

I remembered speeding with my mom’s car at round 160KM along Ore Road with glass windows up cool and I did not know she was inside the car behind me.
She almost kill me that day and family members started screaming and yelling at me shocked

I saw the car I entered from Cologne to Paris during 160-170KM on that, it like the car was flying, it was French made Renault but can’t remember the year.

Ford mondeo 2009 at 160KM last year.

Renault 2015, small car, can’t go more than 80KM, else the car is already flying grin grin in 2022

But now the max is 120KPH, with my family 80KPH Max.

I entered a benz from Benin bypass to Onitsha, based on I was looking for cheap transport I didn't enter regular bus. It happened to be a military man. Dude was doing between 160 to 190km on a very bad road. At around agbor, a bike from the other lane just crossed without looking, he was actually making a phone call and didn't respond to the car horn. The army dude manage to dodge him and miraculously we didn't summersault. Funny enough, the guy on ladies okada was still on the call despite the what happened. Na so army man vex shook hand under him car sit, bring out one stainless. Walked towards the bike man and wanted to shoot him. Myself and another woman driving behind us that stopped started beging on his behalf. It wasn't funny at all. We continued the journey and dude was still driving speed and regretting bitterly why he didn't shoot the bike man

Killing is now a norm in Nigeria. May God help civilians.

Anything above 130Km/hr I always remember my son, my wife and mother. I too love them. My mother don too try for me. At times, I dey run 130Km/hr on 3rd mainland bridge especially at Night. Late Night driving is the most risky coz I am always ready to knock anything in front of me.

But when I was called my wife was in the labour room and I was at Landmark beach cruising, I arrived Gbagada General Hospital under 25Mins with constant reminder that my son need to see me, no matter what. My village people no go get me.

Speed is a function of mind but some cars can actually trigger your speed if you are a good driver with mind.

you are a lair. You can't drive 300km/h on any road in Nigeria. You would be dead by now
I think the guy exaggerated it somewhat; electronically regulated speed limit for that VW Phaeton, 12 cylinder, 6 Litre Engine with 420hp is about 250kmph.

I drove a Toyota Sienna XLE up to the speed of 190 km/h which is the last digit on the speedometer, and the gearbox neutralized the car automatically. The gear is still on D gear but the car wasn't moving, it was as if it was on neutral.
It was after I remove my leg from the throttle that the car was able to engaged again

I don dey look una since dey talk this thing say make I keep quiet but na fat lie!
A full loaded Hiace with same engine as a hilux carrying up to 15 people and luggage will struggle to reach 150kph,let alone 200 SMH...
most people dropping comment here don't even own a car. Most car speedometer stops at 240km/h or 220km/hr, and I'm very certain that, that their corolla in Nigereria with 130horsepower won't have the time to accelerate to the top speed in Niger Road before meet pothole that will make them slow down

Bmw 535i 2005 model. Lagos to Ondo = N280kmph

Honda Accord 2004 model = Never dared beyond 140kmph (E get why)

Ford Something 2015 model. Abuja environs = was doing about 120kmph when Cow entered the road from nowhere. Lucky to be alive after the crash.

Speed kills...use only in times of absolute necessity, controlled environment or emergency.

I think I know the why because I have been there... The car suddenly became light @140km/h and very unstable, can easily swearve off the road to the bush if care is not taken.

You can drop your (why) point as well.

Lol.... I have done so with Toyota matrix, 2013 camry, and honda civic. still did 140 km/hr this morning.

Truly, after getting to 150, the Toyota's becomes too light that I will have to reduce drastically most times but it is not so with other cars I have drove.... Toyota vehicles are light and are not suitable for such stunts

Exactly my point!

Why anyone who values their own life should never do that with a Toyota.

From what I see here, many drivers who lost their lives to accidents are the causes of their predicament.

It's clear.

I only pity their victims.

That split second can land you in d land of d dead.

You can ask from that late Fast and Furious movie star.

Let me educate you. I am a fan of Paul Walker. Don't say nonsense. He did not die from overspeeding.

He was not the one driving. He was seated at the passenger seat in front.

His friend was driving. He died from his friend's lack of experience in driving sports cars. The friend drove the sport car, lost control and they had the accident.

Don't just come online to type rubbish.

This is one of the reasons many of them joined EndSARS and discredited a valid call for professionalism. They want unchecked recklessness and indiscipline.

If you want to be unfortunate do so inside your house, don't get innocent people killed.

This is exactly what many reckless drivers don’t think about. Death is the easy part. If they survive they will find out the other side of life when their own body that they take for granted becomes a prison.

I’m horrified at some of the speeds I’m seeing

Close to 120 and I'll start imagining how my my funeral will look like.

I'm sure I have good reasons to feel like that. Almost every week, I see ghastly accidents on the road. Over speeding and lack of patience being the usual culprit.

Abuja roads can be very tempting.
