People don't really understand this things. That there is 25% chance of having an SS offsprings doesn't preclude the possibility of having 2, 3 or even all 4 offsprings out of 4 with SS. I have an uncle that had both of his first 2 offspring with SS, and sadly both died b4 age 12. Thereafter, non of the next 4 is SS.

Married the girl that are genotype is AA you can develop love with her inrespective of individual religion Muslim are good people so we'll one big family

General Population increase, globalisation and awareness so, it's easy now to identify sickler patient.
They were still many sickler babies.
They just didn't know what it was and tagged them ogbanje etc and they didn't have medical care so the victims died of as babies or in early childhood and were forgotten.
ALSO FEW ARE LUCKY TO BORN MAINLY AS & AA (maybe just 1 or 2 SS) SO THEY DON'T NOTICE.
