Una dey over elongate as well as derail this thread and it's not cool at all. We all are either learners, teachers, or both, on the stock market. Imagine, coming back to the thread and seeing so many comments. You go through them to learn about the stock market, just to see that it is either about bond or about bondage. You rush and skip through all of that and end up even skipping through an important stock information. As I always say, the stock market is largely emotional and reactionary. Despite all your bedsheets, and fv and technical analysis or candlesticks, investors need the latest info to make some unforeseen decisions.

Oga mi, no be true. Bond market no be barometer of stock exchange, na d measure based on the stock prices of representative large firms trading on the Stock Exchange be d barometer. For yankee, na S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average. We get NSE own too and na dat we dey use as barometer of stock market, no be bond market. Bond market na fixed income abeg. E fit relate to stocks at some point if oda factors gel wit am but dat one no still make bond d barometer of stock market.

For economy sef, no be bond dey show d way, national economy dey broad and I don see say u no be economist if you dey call bond market barometer of economy. Barometer of economy na data from tins like gdp, gnp, hdi, gini coefficient ati bebe lo.

Make you help us carry bond matter go bond market thread. Wen we want sabi anything about bond, we go come dia come read am and contribute. Dis thread na for Stocks make we fi le be.

Igi pawpaw o ni wo pa wa o.

Before interest rates or inflation goes up, you would have known 3 months prior to the time if you are following happenings in the bond market.

That is why astute investors move their investments between the fixed income market and the stock market, while some have a certain percentage of their portfolio in fixed income investments.

Warren Buffett also twerked one of his mentors (Benjamin Graham) formula for estimating the intrinsic value of a growth stock, by including the current yield on a 10 year fixed income in the formula. He multiplied his fair value by the average yield on a 10 year bond and then divided it by the current yield

Because he found out that after all was said and done the current yield on fixed income investments affected the fair value of a stock. If the fair value should be discounted or he should add a premium to it.

About few months ago when Warren Buffett had about $100 billion war chest, where did you think the fund was invested before he started buying undervalued stocks in the bear market

There is also a reason why about 90% of Nigerian workers retirement funds are invested by fund managers in fixed income investments.

Unilever is in a recovery mode, you may need to look into that stock if you are planning to hold it for a minimum of 12 months. And a stock in a recovery mode can easily do 100% and above. Please do your due diligence sha

The 2002 Q4 EPS was what the company made through out 2021.

There is a 95% probability that the 2023 EPS will grow by 150% compared to that of 2022

If you truly want to learn, then you will know that the thread is not being derailed by the discussion of bonds. You cannot study the stock market alone. And as he pointed out, you need to know when to sell your stocks to realise gains and where next to put the gains you got. Both bonds and stocks go together.

If you really want to learn

With N1 million they can bid for you in the monthly primary market offering, with about 200k they can bid for the in the secondary market which happens every business day

Warren Buffett said " stocks make you rich, while bonds keep you rich. Maybe that is why he is the most consistent member of the Forbes list. He has been on the list for decades

The first thing is to make it through equities and then keep it by diversifying some into fixed income investments.

Bonds and equities are the two major branches of the Financial Market

for unilever #10 is the best entry zone on support level, if u re speculating or jijoist u can exist if u see a breakdown below #9. #15.64 is the first resistance and sell area for jijoist and if it breakout on #16 a longterm holder can sell/exist at #25 and wait for next price action bcz there will be likely a pullback on that resistance

If I may ask, which kain tool you dey use for your stock selection?

One of the tools, wey I dey use be say my dividend yield should be a minimum of 70% of the current yield on a 10 year bond. Current yield on a 10 year bond is about 14%

So I expect a minimum dividend yield of 9.8%, although this can be waived after digging deeper to unearth future earning growth potential of the business.

Whenever the dividend of a stock is equivalent to or higher than the yield on a 10 year bond, I think I have a stock selling at a discount after carrying out the necessary due diligences

Investing through stanbic especially anything order than treasury bill is hard. Thank God I have an alternative. I will just transfer my money. The only down side is just that its a secondary market thing but with at least N95,000 you can invest in bond through Standard Chartered. You don't have to call or even mail any relationship manager that will either not pick or reply your call/messages. Once you set up your app by yourself, you can do everything by yourself without contacting anyone.

On Conoil, I think CP or someone else highlighted it might get to 35 before the unaudited results was released. Seeing an EPS of 8naira and considering a payout ratio of 50% or more, at least 4naira dividend suppose drop if adenuga no de stingy this time

That is possible with cash backed earnings, from past experience Conoil earnings are not backed by cash, reason why dividends were paid in October, ie 10 months after the financial year
