Is that what politics is all about. Don't forget GEJ wasted our reserve that obj suffered for and now we are borrowing, he did that to appease the North yet he failed. So you want to do the same in Lagos. OT kosi Well said. I must commend OBJ for increasing our external reserves. GEJ got there and squandered it. I'm a fan of GRV , with this plan within 100days in office, can say it's not feasible because as governor who just defeated ruling party for the past 24 years will meet nearly empty treasury if not empty and huge debt. I think this plan should be are four years not just 100days. |

All hands should be on deck to build a country that works for all. A country where people are paid wages that make them live decently and be prosperous. See, Nigeria has got to build a country that works for Nigerians. not one that works for some companies. Any president that is not making life easy for you, vote him out!. Don't let anybody, empire or cooperation keep you down. It's Democracy. We speak, they listen. If the don't, we vote them out. Anything short of that, you are in trouble. see we all want a better Nigeria the question now is whose going to pay for it? and how are going to pay for it.......Lagos state budget is 1.7Trillion for the year.......do you know what almost 2Trillion is ? You want to add to that bill exceptionally and take down sources of fund before settling debt accurred on those investments and settling other investor sentiment on those structures? -Caretaker for local govt? and new elections? Will their tenure expire in the next few months or what? Elected people oo.
-The apartment own is it govt built apartments or privately built apartment that must be occupied because I don't see how you can force a private citizen to let out his/ her apartment.
-New waste management system sorting from home? Are you aware that it's even the Lagosians that will frustrate that sort from home, do you know there's a program like that but the residents simply won't sort it.
We hope your proposed new waste management stuff it won't be another visionscape 2.0 ask Lagosians. Ask Lagosians about visions cape they will tell you.
-New Bids for rail? What about the ones still under construction
Some of your points might look feasible but most are just not it.

Now I believe the talk is cheap statement.

This is a pipe dream, we are also fighting inflation and you want to increase minimum wage

Mediahq: My First 100 Days As Governor of Lagos
I have a vision for a new Lagos Here is my action plan for the first 100 Days in office.
1.0 Increase Minimum Wage to N60,000 on Day 1 in Office, the salary of Civil Servants will be increased by 100% to N60,000 monthly. The target is to reach N100,000 as soon as possible. This will cover everybody including street sweepers.
2.0 Moral suasion to persuade the Organised Private Sector to follow Govt's lead by stopping casualisation and also increase their minimum wage to a living wage. Banks, telcos, oil companies, multinationals, large national corporates, etc will be incentivised with PAYE tax credits to stop casualisation and index their minimum wage to their capacity to pay rather than current market wage rates which are suppressed by high unemployment. A first step for a Lagos where every worker has health care, pensions and similar benefits.
3.0 Cancel Alpha Beta's Contract which costs the State N5bn monthly.
4.0 Use the savings from the cancellation of Alpha Beta contract to set up a grand Loan Scheme for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. Ensure at least 10,000 beneficiaries in the first 100 Days. We expect the scheme to benefit up to 1m beneficiaries in 4 years.
5.0 Establish a portal for publishing costs of all government projects and compare them to World Bank standards to eliminate waste and corruption.
6.0 Issue a 10-year order for 10,000 vehicles to an auto manufacturer that commits to building an auto assembly in Lagos with a credible plan to achieve 50% value added within 5 years.
7.0 Pull down all toll gates in the Lekki Ajah axis and Ikoyi link bridge.
8.0 Build a monument in memory of our slain sons and daughters at the old Lekki Toll Gate.
9.0 Advertise for the employment of 10,000 teachers with outstanding grades (First Class and Second Upper or Upper Credit) to start a process of repositioning teaching as a middle-class career.
10.0 Execute a Memorandum of Understanding with all Road Transport Unions for the implementation of a rehabilitation and retraining program, and take Agberos off our roads.
11.0 Invite bids for the design and construction of 100 km of rail across Lagos.
12.0 Host an education summit with all stakeholders to get buy-in into GRV's plan for partnerships to upscale public schools to the standards of the best private school.
13.0 Host a health summit with all stakeholders to get buy-in for partnerships to upscale services at Primary Health Centres to best-in-class, laying the foundation for an effective referral system.
14.0 A summit for various artisan associations such as bricklayers, plumbers, mechanics, welders, carpenters, tailors and other technicians with the objective of creating a process for their certification and access to small-scale loans.
15.0 Working with my Party, the Labour Party, appoint first-class caretaker Chairmen for each Local Govt, each appointee being skilled enough to be a potential Governor.
16.0 Set a date for Local Government elections.
17.0 Issue Guidelines to open up the BRT routes to all investors who meet the minimum standards. Create a program for widespread investment in public transport by all willing Lagosians and investors.
18.0 Issue Guidelines for markets to operate autonomously and appoint their own Iyalojas and Babalojas.
19.0 Release Guidelines for a new waste management system for separating waste to paper, plastic and organic from homes; a first step towards a world class system for turning waste into biogas and fertilizer.
20.0 Emergency rehabilitation of buildings and facilities in 100 primary and secondary schools pending comprehensive reconstruction.
21.0 Enumeration of all apartments that have been vacant for more than 180 days, and commencement of a program to ensure occupancy by 31st Dec. At least 100 such apartments are to be occupied in the first 100 days.
22.0 The commencement of the rehabilitation of 100 inner roads spread across all Local Governments in Lagos.
I am determined to set Lagos on course to become First World in 30 years. Hold me accountable after the first 100 Days.

While I could debunk most of his plans....I don't have time to do so. I listened to him for 1hr on Channels and shake my head. I will focus on one...Traffic ..why? He is an Architect so this should be his expert area. Proposal 1 from GRV - Lagosians will pay if they travel alone in their vehicles and travel for free in groups...carpooling. This is the same as tolls and what happens If people drop their kids off and have to travel alone in some areas...paying everyday is increased taxes on people which cancels the minimum wage increase that would affect inflation anyways. Proposal 2 - Build a Bridge with many connecting bridge up to 16 along Lagos corridor. When you connect 16 roads to the same bridge during rush hour, the traffic that will pile up if you have major accidents will be shocking unless those some roads can connect to other communities at the back end. He also wants to toll these roads based on how you exit...how he plans to acquire all these lands without lengthy court cases and huge compensation will be great to see. Proposal 3 - Allow private companies with buses to get into BRT...if you do a free for all, how can people recoup their investments? Even USA don't do a free for all...proposals are received and the best is picked to run which is the model Lagos Govt is using right now Proposal 4 - Dredge the water so larger vessels can be used to transport people. Very nice but it will increase unemployment...if 100 boats can move 1000 people and you get a double decker boat that can move 100 people, you have cut employment to 10%...so 90% of people have lost their jobs. The problem with most Nigerians like I keep saying is the ignorance of how things work...when a novice embarks on governance like Obama did...be very worried. They will only bring chaos to the system and not very many lasting legacies. All the best to Lagos on Saturday Mediahq: My First 100 Days As Governor of Lagos

Meaning that those companies will have a tax refund that will enable them increase salary.
