Nothing less than N400 with current market conditions. However, market conditions may push the price upwards or downwards anytime. The point of removing subsidy is not to fix price but to allow market conditions dictate the price.

Shut up!!! You fvcking have no clue about simple economics, so shut up!

The part in bold is wrong. Very wrong. Government is not paying subsidy because we import petrol. Government pay subsidy because Nigerians don’t want to buy petrol at market determined price. We want to buy petrol at a price regulated below the cost of production and profit margin of petrol importers and refiners. Let’s understand this and not confuse each other, please.

Actually you are wrong. From your comments on this thread, you keep on arguing that even if our refineries are functioning optimally, we will still be paying almost the same price per litre for PMS as we are paying now. That reasoning is shocking, to say the least.
Do you know the indices that make up the pricing of PMS?
Do you know the huge price differential when you factor in forex for exportation of crude, refining in another Country and then importing PMS to Nigeria, as against simply supplying the crude oil to refineries within the Country, refining it and then distributing the product around the Country?
The prices can NEVER be the same, or even almost the same. Even if you don't understand the economics involved, simple logic should be enough for some level of understanding.
Also, what do you understand by 'market forces' you keep on saying? Do you realize that FOREX is a major market force? And it applies to Nigeria in this case simply because we export our crude to be refined outside? Now imagine the price regime if FOREX isn't a factor!
Pls don't post false information here, it's very misleading for those who may come here to get info

Even if we stop importing fuel, if we get fuel cheap right now, it's subsidised. The question should rather be "what can we do to strengthen Naira?"

As for rice, we will have high cost of rice until everywhere is saturated with locally produced rice and the production cost is reduced more than it is. Do you know the price of rice in the international market?

On another note, Nigeria is a difficult place. If we have these things so cheap, they will become so scarce because those in the system will rather take them to countries that will fetch them more.

God will help us, Na small small. We don't have the time luxury though but we must still be patient.

Calling for a strike is baseless here.

Government already told workers 2 days ago they'll review minimum wage. Government already talked about Palliatives for Nigerians. So why is he calling for a strike if not for hidden intentions?

Do ajaero alone can determine when NLC goes on strike. You must be very ignorant. So going on strike will win Obi the ongoing court case.

You are a bloody liar.

And also an ass licker.

No matter how dirty the arse of APC you will still lick it!

Your mouth like Nigerians don't want to pay.

If only you had the privilege to live abroad you would have known that there isn't any major economy in the West where the govt does not subsidize certain sensitive items as part of its social responsibility.

How you lie with boldness reminds me of your uncle Lai Mohammed.

If your useless Buhari had fixed the refineries like he claimed he would and built a few new ones, the price of PMS would be more affordable more especially if corruption was dealt with.

But Buhari govt remains the most corrupt in our history

I beg to differ sir.

What determines market price? Cost of crude oil

Who owns the crude oil? Nigerians

Why can't our refineries work and why can't we refine locally? Corruption simple and short.

Your ignorance is appalling. You think the price will remain static till now from 2012? If we’ve allowed GEJ to fully remove subsidy in 2012 and eliminate regulated prices, the price per liter would still be around N500 today so what’s your point?
In May 2012 Price was $3.791 per gallon in the USA

In May 2023 price was $3.666 per gallon in USA. this shows that the price even came down.

Why are you guys like this? Why must you guys always make Nigeria's case different? Why?

And you are here still justifying and trying to defend defiantly.

A litre of pms was N70 vs N600 now.
A bag of rice was N10k vs 45k now.. it will be 70k-80k once new FX and pump prices have fully permeated all sectors of the economy.

Nigerians didn’t ask the right questions then and we sure aren’t asking the right questions now…
Why do we have subsidy in the first place?
Because me import fuel right
So why do we import fuel?
Because our refineries aren’t working?
So why aren’t our refineries working?

If we fixed all our refineries would we still need to import fuel?

So why haven’t we channeled resources over the years to fix the refineries?

We stopped importation of rice because “we want to grow our economy and consume locally grown rice right?

So why did the price of locally grown rice shoot up?

These and many more are questions we should be asking the government. These are things we should demand answers to otherwise we’ll just keep hearing different nonsense every new day

Oga. Whether you refine or not. When you pay less that what the market price is you are being subsidized.

It was subsidies that killed the refineries in the first place and every business enterprise government owned from electricity production to airlines right from inception till now.

And watch it, subsidies will kill rail transport too. So if government builds a million refineries, if it cannot make enough revenue for maintenance everything will go down sooner than later.
