I became a happy investor with rest of mind when i discovered the advantages of investing in reliable dividend paying companies. Any of them can give you a huge capital appreciation at any given time. You don't need to care about price volatility as long aa the company retains it's fundamental values.
Big money men don't go about chasing many stocks around. Even if you have over #50b, about five stocks will do. Monitoring a very few number of stocks would be easy. I've learnt my lessons from over a decade of trading, most of which were bedevilled by non-chalant attitudes and absence fron the market. #Agbalowomeri
I put it to you that you've never being a trader not to talk of being a good trader

Okay, every new account is activated for DCS.
It's left for you to deactivate or continue with it.
I always opt out because of my nature of trading.

Hope their customer care service is okay.
I see their platform as almost do it yourself.

Oga Locodemy please come onboard Investment One everything u need dey there and don't forget to use my link o

Make you join those wey dey help my ministry.

Meanwhile, all your answers from all the different contributors - @ymcy56, @otomatic etc are correct on DCS (Direct cash settlement) ie cscs dealing with investors directly as per proceeds from sales, and DMA (direct market access) ie ability to cancel trades during market sessions.

Investment One gives DMA so you can place and cancel orders during trading hours. However, you will need to request after your account is opened as already pointed out by one of the contributors.

Please note that all customers can trade online without DMA, the only difference is that a customer with DMA can cancel a trade he/she is no longer interested in during trading hours while a customer without DMA can only cancel a trade between 4pm and 7am.

They are same but I think investment one has a better structure that's why I want to start using them.At least depositing and withdrawing fund seamlessly.

I have used meristerm twice and stopped. My money was posted after 2 days.i don't need such broker.

I am currently using Greenwich securities though same fees but a better platform and good customer care than meristerm.

Of course, everything is open. Technology has helped in that regard. Brokerage commission is the same for both buying and selling.
Please note all other charges are statutory and go to the regulators. It's only the brokerage commission Ione has power over.

* First of all, Im your pikin o.
* 2ndly, it's Lasaco you mentioned.
* 3rdly, I think you panicked because you're a new comer and possibly new to investing.

* That a stock lose doesn't mean something is wrong with it's fundamentals, that's just market for you......bearing in mind that the stock you picked @2+, has been bought at some point... @81k, 90k, N1 by someone else who entered much earlier or when the stock was down in the market......if those set of people sell @2 or 2.34 or thereabout, they are pocketing over +100% profit, doesn't mean it's the end for such stock.

- For instance, some investors bought GTCO as high as N34 naira sometimes last year or so or 2021, GT fell all the way from 34 down to N16.80 before it started reversing up again....and we know where the share price is now. It can only take an investor to remain calm in such situation....while traders must have jumped out with some hair-cut.

* In this market, stocks goes up and down. More reason knowledge is required in trading, even if it's basic knowledge.....and, for newbies, we often emphasize on "investing" instead of trading. Buying at bargain price is also emphasized.

* As it is now, please do not panic, do not sell in haste or at loss. What you're seeing is paper loss, which can reverse back to gain when the price goes up again.
* Also, dividend payment is coming, just try and download APEL Registrars E-Dividend Mandate form, fill and scan back to APEL Registrars.
* Another strategy to use is averaging down if you still have some funds, don't be in haste, let the shedding bottomed, when recovery is sighted, you buy more to average your cost price down.
* Like I said, that's Mr. Market for us. It has a mind of its own. Lasaco shouldn't be trading less than N3.

Lasaco has returned almost 200% this year alone. This should serve as a lesson to you. If you had the Yochaa app installed on your phone, you could have easily seen this under the stock's performance history. From there, you could have asked questions and made an informed decision about whether to buy the stock.

Averaging down is not an easy strategy either. You have to know when to do it, and if you do it too soon, it may make things worse. If you can bear the drawdown, you may try holding the stock and hope for recovery. If you can't, you may want to sell it and use the money to enter the stock later or to invest in a different stock.

Osita, there's no one way to stock movement. You could buy high and the stock will still go higher.

See the case of CONOIl, MRS, FTNCOCOA, etc of recent.......when we thought FTNCOCOA already peaked, @93k or so, it took off again to circa 1.80.
While we think CONOIL already peaked @35+, it went further to 86; what of Guinness, and others in that category?

Even if Lasaco is picked @2.70/2.80, it's still cheap if we consider the financials and the share price of its peers.

Imagine WAPIC trading @94, even SUNU touched 50k or so, then Lasaco is trading @58k as at today's closing price.

So, sometimes, the market can be irrational and the way people rubb.ish insurance stocks here is appalling.

If I had mentioned Cornerstone when it started moving, they would have rubbish.ed it, but see it's Q1 alone, it made over +800% in PAT if I'm right, yet we want such stock to remain at 20k?
This same Lasaco was rubbish.ed at 90k, but eyes opened when it delivered over +200%. Same thing with MANSARD.

In as much as I enjoyed your post, I think we should all understand this FACT - A good trader always make money in the market!

-What make you think it's traders that get hair-cut and not investors?

A good trader not only reading the price actions but also read market sentiments and as such will rarely get cut unaware!

I tried not to mention this, but below is the post I made on my platform on 29/09/2022 on GTCO you referred to in your post. Informed followers that I am buying the stock the next day 30/09/2022 (aiming for dividend). Bought at 17.80 and recently sold same this June at 34.50!

We should be cautious how we attribute losses to traders and not the so called investors

Boss you're right!
I'm also one of the beneficiaries of GT @16.80, 17 & 17.20.
What I mean is that traders don't wait and have such patience as investors.
We must be able to differentiate between the two..... whosoever want to invest must have tripple dose of patience.

However, I still repeat, some investors needs to change their mindset towards some stocks.....that a stock dealt with you in the past is not enough to be rubbishing them all the time.
They cant continue to live in the 18th century.
Market also thrives on sentiments.

To me, the thing is we have good and bad traders & same applicable to investors. The main keys are:
-Patience
-Working Strategy(ies)
-Risk tolerance (Risk/Reward)
-Stick to your plans
