Hello everyone. My interview date is 1st week of July (first attempt). I’ve been practicing on likely questions all by myself but I would love to join any platform to rub minds and share tips and ideas. Pls I will appreciate any link at all cos I’m still very much nervous as the date draws close. |

Ogundare26:Even at that, success rate for Naija applicants going to a community college is very very low. Community college in the US, is designed for working blue collar workers, vocational students, low-medium income families,1st generation college students and immigrants. So if you’re coming from Naija to attend a community college.. what is the primary reason? It’s cheaper than a 4-yr college. So VO knows you made your choice of school based on $$$….and you’re going to tell him/her that ur family owns all the airports and pjs in Naija?? If your financial ability is in doubt, you’re likely going to be denied. US no wan take care of stranded students. 1 Like |

BigIyanga: I am not offering anything. You can check the link I shared. Education USA is part of the services of the US embassy. All the meeting are held at the consulate. One has to attend an information session first to learn more before deciding whether or not you want to go with them. “The EducationUSA Advising Center at the Public Affairs Section of the United States Consulate Lagos offers students access to accurate, comprehensive, and current information about educational institutions in the United States“ Lagos https://educationusa.state.gov/centers/educationusa-lagos Their Instagram page : https://www.instagram.com/educationusalagos/ Abuja https://educationusa.state.gov/centers/educationusa-abuja By visiting the link, you can learn more about their services. Did I use them officially? No, by the time I was preparing for graduate school, it was already 7 years since I finished my undergraduate program. The requirement for getting advising through them was that I must have graduated within the last 3 years (this might have changed) Did I benefit from them? Yes, I attended some of their sessions that was opened to the public. 1.How to negotiate scholarship - I used learning from the session to negotiate my scholarships and got additional $2k from one to the schools I wrote to. 2. Student orientation for Fall semester 2021 (one of the things they spoke about helped me during my trip to the US as I was pulled aside at the border for further questioning before my passport was stamped). Do I know people who have used them? I met a couple of people on my flight who got their full scholarship through education USA opportunity funds(I spoke with two: one got full Bsc scholarship while the second got fully funded PhD). It was from one for them I learned that if you are under the age of 30 and traveling via Qatar Airways for school, you can check in a 3rd bag for free ( this was in August 2021). You have to register on their site though. I didn’t benefit because I was older than 30. I have seen some of their post about community colleges and I believe they can demystify most of the opinions I have seen on this board. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Ogundare26: I read your transcript and I couldn’t see anything wrong with what you said. Sometimes VO, just want you to answer only the questions they pose without providing more information. My view of their interview is - You can do prepare well and the VO still denies you. You can work on your confidence and practice with people before your next interview. Must you go to school in Fall or you can wait till next year so you can go through education USA? If you cannot sign up with them officially, follow them on social media they usually have different public sessions virtually where you can ask your own questions. They have a preparing for visa session but I think it would be later in the year since they are currently doing session for Fall resumption. |

Good day house, I’m currently in the process of getting my i 20, I want to know if the balance on the statement of account of my sponsor should be equal to or above the cost of attendance. Or does the school want to just see the inflow and out flow of the bank account? |
