Truly, we seriously needed to consider and look more into SA on this platform.......it's fast separating itself from TA/FA, especially when trading Nigerian stocks.

What fundamentals does FTN COCOA for instance have that took it from circa 30/40k to N1.80+?

Oga correct me if I am missing it.SA (sentimental analysis) could be described as what is out thr on the street. Which could be politics, corruption, new investors, new policy, new direction in the economy. Insider dealings. Billionaire alignments, new contracts. etc.Or is this SA limited to some particular things

Mercy let him sell off those stocks and have a breathing air.Afterall he has other stocks doing well in the market now.

Someone here last 2 weeks was offering universal ins at 15kobo which means he is tired of the stock. When opportunity to bail out came on Monday, Tuesday, he must have done the needful by now.

Ftn will become very illiquid at #2 and above except there is fundamental backing it up.The work of SA has finished in Ftn cocoa for now.
At this point I except Pa Emma and Co to guide people not when stock is running fresh on FA or TA.

Dear Aremso, my advice is sell off now and chop big chicken.Dont leave the bones ooo.Chop everything and cool your head.

I have FTN Cocoa in my portfolio. Bought first tranche at N2.90 based on Sentimental Analysis (SA). That Nigeria has a comparative advantage for Cocoa. Same SA that I used to buy PRESCO grin
But I have averaged down to N1.04 for FTN Cocoa since over a decade ago.

I can see they currently have negative SHF.

With the news around on new investors. FTN Cocoa is a HOLD for me. I think a turn around is possible.

But on a serious note why did you buy Afromedia, Omatek, Deap Capital and others. They are not liquid, they are not making profit not paying dividends for about 10 years.

I guess you bought them based on sentimental analysis

Monkey hunting thrives in a bull market, it is an opportunity for people trapped in dead stocks for ages to cash out and sell to uninformed newbies

Seriously, one major reason I buy some stocks I don't Intend to hold is to be on the Registars Books. Once I see movement, I try to jump in and out and leave only one share for my Registrar Books. Within three years I have over 120 stocks (from NGX) on my portfolio but my funds are in less than 20 now. I intend to utilize the bull market to rebalance my portfolio to less than 15 this year, But would still trade any I perspective to give 10-20℅ within a month.

Most of this stocks were bought when I joined the market in 2019-2020. So I was literally playing with the App and learning (on the field) with little funds. On rear occasion do I enter with significant portion of my portfolio (although, I just used a significant portion on Royal Exchange last week,to average down and exit hopefully at 10℅ gain). I would have dived into Unity at 0.49k but was afraid of the standing of the Bank. I have always head negative on the bank.

One of my major gains last year was on RSBist.. I had written the money off only to see over 100℅ gain. I don't know much of either FA or TA now. But I analysis stocks based on volumes (I monitor unusual volumes), dividend yields and Politics( example, I knew Fedility would do well the moment Peter Obi mentioned he had major shares there, yet I lacked funds at that moment to partake. Also I knew Oando would do well immediately BAT won). Registars wahala (among others) has made me not to focus dividend yet I haven't sold my GT shares because of Dividend.

Another methods I use is the word on the street from locals that makes use of the product (just like StreetInvestor, I learnt this from him!), Based on this anybody that is into beer would know that IB is selling in big time among average income earners now. Same with products from Cutix (prices of products lower to Nocaco).

I have come to realizes as a small investor, I would take significant period of years and funds to grow my portfolio. But trading might. That's said, I must confess that I missed many of my picks because I lack good FA or TA to back it up.

Currently, my radar is on Cutix, IB and Aiico. I hope I could get them below 15℅ of their current prices now. I hope I'm not MH now oh.

Also, thanks you made me bought Wapco @26. I am praying to be patient enough to reap bountifully here.

You need to determine what you want from the market, you want once in a while 20% and above moving from one stock to another or thinking like an owner by buying shares in order to build long term wealth and predictable cash flow.

If you want to trade, it is good to consider the liquidity of the stock and volumes traded.

I only have issues with Monkey Hunters, who will buy dead stocks and other highly illiquid stocks, hype them on Nairaland, WhatsApp, twitter etc in order to entice the uninformed to buying such stocks for their own selfish reasons so that they can easily cash out leaving their uninformed followers looking for easy money to hold the bag.

Making noise about the 100% gain or more purportedly made by the Monkey Hunter is one of the marketing strategies used by the Monkey Hunter to draw more people into his or her followership because the average Nigerian want easy money, this is what keeps the Monkey Hunter in business.

Because such stocks are not liquid and the business behind the stock is not doing great, such people can be trapped in the dead stocks for 2 years even up to 10 years.

As i have always said, follow with sense, asking relevant questions, seek second or contrary opinions before signing the cheque or making the fund transfer

If you want to be an investor, you need to dig deeper into the financials of the stock, read up all relevant information about the company. Ask relevant questions about the stock on this thread.

If you want to combine long term investment with trading, it won't be a bad idea to have 2 Stockbroking accounts.

You complained about not having cash to harness certain opportunities, if you have good stocks cash should not be your problem. The stocks will give steady predictable cash flow, you can always pledge your shares as collateral for loans.

If you have done a good job with your trading and investment strategies for about 15 years and above, you can't be asking for handouts or giveaways from total strangers on the social media.

Most people in the stock market would have done better in the last 15 years and above, if they had bought Mutual Funds, Treasury Bills or FGN bonds.

Do you know that an investor who does not like risk who invested 200k per annum in a fund growing at 10% for the past 15 years would have compounded his investments to N7 million. 10% is a highly conservative return ooo.

Yet we have stock market investors who invested more than that for the past 15 years who don't have a portfolio of N6 million.

Now imagine if the fixed income investor increased his or her annual investments as his income increased over the last 15 years. Or invested N1 million per annum in the last 15 years

Consistentcy and investing in what one understands is very important.

Reason why some average investors have built a nine digit portfolio over their working life ie 25 years to 30 years. They know the importance of compounding and diversification in Investment portfolio growth

Preach on. Years ago i did this maths, and have stuck with the money market fund, with no single regrets, I have seen an average return of 10.5% which definitely for my long term plan, so why should I jinx it?

When I compare the overall trend of the Nigerian all share index to the US total stock market over a 20yr period, I was more than sure where I would like to trade.

I sincerely respect those who have thrived and are thriving in the Nigerian stock market, and will continue to learn from you guys until it makes sense.

Possible to do better in the stock market, if you know what you are doing, you are not following Monkey Hunters and you have a good understanding of how to use predictable investment income to create growth. But very few people do better than some of these conservative investments over a 10 year and above framework

Money Market Fund gave yield of over 16% in the past

I am of the opinion that whatever strategy one is using, trading, investing or combination of trading and investing, one should be able to build a portfolio that is bigger than ones Retirement Savings Account.

My own na to do the math. If we assume that an investor puts down an additional #200,000 at the beginning of each year and reinvests the returns at a 10% annual rate, the first #200,000 will be worth #835,000 by the end of the 15th year. The second #200,000 will be worth #759,000, and so on. The total value of all the investments after 15 years will be #6.98994 million. But 15 years far sha. cheesy grin

That's how I grew my portfolio to 25 millions from 100k. Investing only in international stocks which do not yield those double digit dividends found in Nigeria (which is more difficult to compound).

Not far if you are having fun with your investments.

Look at 2006 when the market was really crazy

A renowned Monkey Hunter had an investment newspaper, investment magazine, daily stock market radio programme, weekly TV stock market programme, Monthly National investment seminars, followers should be in hundreds of thousands if not more

A number of investors who bought some of the stocks he recommended are yet to recover their funds after 17 years, tens of billions of Naira are still trapped in Private Placement offering.

Unfortunately history will always repeat itself

This part of my anger with some insurance companies. They sold this packages to the working public as assurance ranging from 5 -10 yrs.The investors lost thr contributions because many have closed shop before maturity. Some that whr afloat to maturity could not pay back because the management/ceo have used the funds to live large

Trading can be very profitable, even on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX). I have posted evidence of this here before. Every single year since 2012, there have been more than five stocks that have returned over 100%. If my memory serves me correctly, I will check my previous post to confirm.

Patience, good screening, and good money management can yield at least 30% to 50% returns every year on the NGX through trading. However, capital also matters. I believe that anything more than 5 to 10 million naira will limit the number of trading opportunities available. There is not much liquidity in many stocks.

This part of my anger with some insurance companies. They sold this packages to the working public as assurance ranging from 5 -10 yrs.The investors lost thr contributions because many have closed shop before maturity. All some that whr afloat to maturity could not pay back because the management/ceo have used the funds to leave large

Mutual Funds are far better. You can even get loans at 15% or thereabout per annum if you borrow against your Mutual Funds.

Identifying such stocks on a consistent basis is the koko.

An investor with a N50 million and above portfolio won't do that. If not his portfolio will evaporate. I will recommend having 2 Stockbroking accounts for such people. Maybe having about N5 million to N10 million in a different account for speculation and trading
