Sure! Even for some parts of Awoyaya area (around Container Bus Stop), Baba dem dey operate once a while. But if you compare the frequency and the audacity with which criminals operate on the mainland to the Island. You will understand my point. It's just like comparing Nigeria to England in terms of safety. You'll agree with me that as much as England is adjudged to be safer than Nigeria, criminal activities do happen there as well.

Bottom line is that Island is like England while mainland is like Nigeria. cheesy cheesy

He didn't say the WHOLE Igando and Ikotun doesn't have light. He said Isheri Oshun, Ijegun and Ikotun. Which is in fact very correct. Isheri and Ijegun especially. I had part of my secondary school at Ikotun and my bestie used to live at Abaranje. I have also had to stay at Ijegun. As a child I used to trek that whole axis. It is not insult, them no too get light. No vex abeg. grin

Nobody should take this thread personal. Make newbies know the blackout areas to avoid. cheesy

Reminds me of my 9ja neighbor that sold his mikano to get a fueling generator because of then diesel prices

A chat with him yesterday made me ROTFLMFAO, e say e run from frying pan enter fire na the fuel is 5H per litre and the generator he got vibrates more than an excavator 🤣🤣
Na so e dey chop fuel.

He now relies solely on his solar plant.

From Ajah down to Epe is actually surrounded by water.

Maybe I am wrong but you can explain to me.

When was the landfill work done that V.I was extended to Lekki. So do we also call Lekki part of the Island as well?

Since Lekki is technically the same long road that eventually leads to Epe, should we also call Lekki an Island?

Geographically, that stretch is an island. Just that most people have narrowed it down to the most inhabited and influencial part of that location.

Anything lekki and Nepa (or whatever they are called there) can not be used in the same sentence. Big men in naija don't pay light bills. Someone just told me they have at least 18 hours of light in Ikeja since the subsidy was removed.

No I didn't. I understand exactly the point she's trying to make and still insist it's false economy. Just don't need to belabour my assertions. Unless the laws of science have ceased to work in Nigeria, not unlike everything else, a modern fridge will use less electricity by staying on and keeping it closed versus switching it off and on intermittently.

@ the bolded. That was the keyword I was looking for in your argument.

Its my personal building and I work from home. We have been managing well before this whole thing started. I guess it is bitting everyone one way or the other.

The same is happening countrywide because the price affects everyone. It will be better to go solar as quickly as possible ... the price will be skyrocketing due to supply and demand and the weaker Naira. Dealers may still have old stock but once they bring new stock at the new exchange rate... you will be paying through the nose.

I don't know of other areas sha, but here that I am, if you bypass, they will come for you. An electrician did it fof our borehole and I didn't know until they showed up. Thankfully it was a warning visit. So, I gave them money for malt.

They should give us prepaid meters. So that Nigerians would stop leaving all their bulbs on in the afternoon.
You are part of the problem because you giving them .oney for Malt.

Another fallacy of hasty generalization! I live in Sangotedo area and I can conveniently tell you that we enjoy close to 12 hours of power supply in my estate. Other than traffic & the expensive cost of living, Island is a great place to live in. It is relatively peaceful and filled with great minds. Unlike the mainland which is the den of criminals (cultists and robbers). All those temple runs that you guys experience on the mainland is not here. Run from robbers, run from cultist fights, run from police raid, run from 1 million boys, etc.

PS- I was born and brought up in Ajegunle, so I know what it's like to live on both the Island and mainland. Before marriage, I prayed to God to never allow me raise my kids on the mainland (Ajegunle precisely) and God answered my prayer. cheesy cheesy
Island is not immune to robbers or cultist or vices you claim are not on the island. My friend was robbed at Ikate. Sangotedo is a base for a cult sect. Thank God for protection for you and your family

Mehn, over here, the electricity supply is top notch. It goes days without a blink except it rains . Omo I have never stayed without light for the whole of this year. When the light goes off, my inverter comes up, I have 2.5kva (two tubular batteries) I bought for 170k each. I never on gen this year.
You damn smart

Please if you are reading this and you earn 150k upward, please save and switch to solar.

I know the initial capital investment can be high, but try. In my case, I saved for 6 months to pay for the entire system. To add to that, I bought the batteries, inverter, and solar panels myself, then call a technician to install.
wink

Sure she does. But I'm suspecting that her source of information is mere 'hearsay' and not borne out of first hand experience. Seeing how she hastily generalized, one can sense the contempt in her undertone from miles away. cheesy cheesy

Island wey dey give us joy and small semblance of peace and prosperity for Nigeria. Cost of living is expensive, it is always flooded and all the yen yen yen. We love it that way. My sister, only person wey don stay mainland before go understand the difference. cheesy cheesy

The first part of your message is agreeable. There's contempt in her submissions and she's not doing anything to hide it.

But chief, the rest of your message portrays you as self-absorbed and egotistical. I no lie give you, some of us don see that Island upside down, inside out but we no carry am for head like gala.

Most people idea of island does not go beyond Ajah.
I lived the greater part of my life on the mainland. Before the Lagos Badagry express way was constructed it was hell for people living on that axis. I could remember trekking from volks to Okoko because of the terrible roads. I visited the mainland this February and we were robbed in the traffic between Barracks gate to volks. I still have scars from that robbery episode. I get panic attacks when I remember it. We all can't live on the mainland.
With the 2nd phase of the road construction project project from Eleko junction to Abraham Adesanya the traffic issues will soon ease off. This area is gradually developing and has prospect.
My family's little investment here will still be beneficial to my children in the nearest future.

On the food aspect, people still go to Epe to restock for the month. Kara market is even closer than Epe. So living is a choice!

It is easier and faster for me when traveling outside Lagos. I'd get to my destination before anyone travelling from the mainland.

On people who choose to livie fake lives,it's their choice.
This part of the island is not as congested as people think.
We get fresh air from the ocean atleast free from the pungent gutter smell that is synonymous with 'Lagos'.

Fresh air shebi, don't worry you will wake up one morning and find yourself in the middle of the Atlantic
