Most African parents shy away from such discussions. As a matter of fact, they don't believe in boyfriend girlfriend relationship because most of such relationships are not moral.

They believe that when a girl is of age, she should bring her intending suitor to them. Girls who actually do boyfriend stuff do it on code.

Let me ask you straightforward questions which requires an honest answer.

How many boys want a boyfriend girlfriend relationship without sex? Of all those who slept with her, how many would ask for her hand in marriage?

To be honest. Men who are serious go straight to the point without much drama and meet the girl's parents for consent.

Unserious boys would be sneaking about looking for who to devour and leave. Their appearance are usually flamboyant to portray affluence but don't be deceived.

What on earth does she need a "boyfriend" for? She is free to have friends both male and female. But boyfriend ( romantic friend) is a no go area until she is ready for marriage. She doesn't need a boyfriend to make her feel complete. She has her father and God.

If I had a daughter, she wouldn't dare introduce a boyfriend to the house until she's 18yrs. I'm not one of those parents who allow their children to get spoilt because of wokeness

At whatever age she is matured enough to control herself with a boyfriend. You may say 15 ... but at 15 your daughter may be immature have the mentality of an 11 year old ..... while the 14 year old may be more matured than her age... may have the mentality if a 17 year old. The idea of setting an age then letting your daughter loose is a recipe for misery. Girls need to be first educated about self respect ... the ways of boys and what to look for in choosing a bf..

Rest. It's not yours to decide. Just guide n advise them. Girl child dey try. That some of them made it to university without being pregnant calls for celebration. Boys,guys, and men give them no chance from age 13 upward. If that gender narrates their experience from age 13 till 50, you will buy them gifts. The pressure is real

So a secondary school student can have the confidence to come home and say, daddy/mummy, here is my boyfriend huh

Waec she never write.

Jamb still dey there, yet na boyfriend matter she go enter.

A girl should at least be in year 2 of university before thinking of having a boyfriend.

Ideally, she should wait till year 3 when she has a bit more emotional maturity because many boys of that age are just out to exploit and maltreat girls.

the thing is that you can't even decide if she has a boyfriend or not believe me... unless you restrict her and lock her up inside... men will always come for her especially if she's beautiful... that's nature..

the only thing you can do for her that won't make her go astray and end up as a damaged or frustrated feminist later is to instill good values in her... starting from marrying a virtuous wife and also teaching her what she needs to know about men and relationship as she grows.. don't be too harsh on her and don't be too soft either...

with your guidance, teachings and her mother's love, she will learn to understand what needs to be done... if you marry a bad woman, you'll regret it... because she will be the one to spend most of her time with her and she will definitely transfer her bad energy and personality to her and she will end up miserable and damaged...

teach her how to say NO to any admirers

Me as early as 12--- to anytime.

In fact I will be the one to ask her to introduce the boy to me.
Step 1. I will get acquainted with the boy

Step 2. Let the boy know that if the get pregnant...he is as good as being dead.

Step 4. I will tell my daughter I don't want to see another boy aside the one I know and teach her how to friend zone the boy. grin

Finally, the boy will be doing my work for me and turn to hunter.

They may finally not marry.
