Sex was sanctioned by God for marriage only. Everyone should teach their kids that, But do not cage them instead tell them with love the reasons why they shouldn't have sex before marriage.

Depends on what you mean. Most girls already have a boyfried albeit imnocent one at Nursery and Primary level. The only time to guide your daughter closely is between JSS1 and SS3 then afterwards she can officially date if she did well in her WAEC.

Most African parents shy away from such discussions. As a matter of fact, they don't believe in boyfriend girlfriend relationship because most of such relationships are not moral.

They believe that when a girl is of age, she should bring her intending suitor to them. Girls who actually do boyfriend stuff do it on code.

Let me ask you straightforward questions which requires an honest answer.

How many boys want a boyfriend girlfriend relationship without sex? Of all those who slept with her, how many would ask for her hand in marriage?

To be honest. Men who are serious go straight to the point without much drama and meet the girl's parents for consent.

Unserious boys would be sneaking about looking for who to devour and leave. Their appearance are usually flamboyant to portray affluence but don't be deceived.
my sister was married a virgin at 24. I can't say if she once had a boyfriend before marriage or not but her husband confirmed it himself. He was the one who deflowered her. But to be honest my dad was so strict on her o. If you are claiming to be western and not strict a little on these girls eh..hmmmmm

Dear Parents

Try as much as you can to teach them sex education and also the implication of unprotected sexual intercourse.
As a medical personnel, I see a lot of young ones coming down with STDS on a daily basis especially HIV.
It gives me a lot of concern.

The same age or time my son is allowed to. When they are adults and can handle whatever is the reward of their actions. When you ask specifically of the girl child, is it okay if my son goes to impregnate another person's daughter at 15? All my kids would collect from my hand irrespective of what they identify as.

Sixteen is a reasonable age to have a boyfriend, I won't deny her if she wants to have one but I would advise her to wait till eighteen.

Define "dating" and "boyfriend". Are you asking for the age when you daughter can start having random sex? If that is the question I think you should already have the answer. Your daughter can start having random sex from 18 years of age. However if you mean at what age do you start preparing your daughter for marriage, then you should by now have known that such training should start from day 1. By observing both you and your husband, she has already started learning what it means to be a wife and what it means to have a husband. At age 13 she should start getting comfortable with serving her household, following in your footsteps - if indeed that is what you do. At age 19 she should have answered the purpose, destiny and GOD questions and understood the concept and relevance of a "good fit". At age 20, let her live her life and make her own decisions.

If you excel as a parent, your daughter will not need your direct intervention in her conjugal life at age 20.

My Aunt in her early 40's married as a virgin. She has the white clothes of her stained blood.
