It's better to be a king in the village than than being a peasant in the city.

If you earn in dollars and also earn good on your regular bank job. You doing better than 60% of Nigerians. And you get to enjoy the slippage different of dollar over naira exchange — as at today naira to a dollar is 820 in the black market.

Just invest wisely here and you would be good. Even if you do bad in investment, your constant dollar earning would afford you the opportunity to try out other opportunities.

On the flip side, when you eventually japa and begin to earn say 3000 dollars monthly, there are taxes to be paid and other expenses and in the process, you will be slow to build wealth, it will take you years compared to when you in Nigeria enjoying the Naira dollar slippage difference.

If you single, finding a wife there would be difficult except you japa-ing with your wife.

Oga stay back and secure your future here, save in dollars, invest with naira and stay ahead of the market here.

Leaving Nigeria is not about money,is also about the security of your life,do you how many people who have the whole money in Nigeria yet get killed by nonentities for no reason reason, abeg who get the means should leave, things are not ease in this country

Okay this na very educational topic so make I dive in small join..

My own 2cents is this.

It all balls down to you and what and where you see urself in the future. I was once like u in this exact same situation and I made my own decision and I must say it is the best decision I ever took by relocate to the United States.

At first when I came here things wasn't easy hell it isn't still easy but we scale through always and that's life for u.

For me, I didn't only put my self into consideration but I also put that of my unborn children. U decide what u want and go for it..

Me presently I get peace of mind I dey see food eat anything I dey see steady light and water with little stress..

And presently chasing my dreams I am in my 30s as well and I will tell u something, Nigeria failed me to the fact that it was only after I left that country tht I began to see my self worth and a brighter future ahead of me..

I plan to come and invest my talent in Nigeria in probably the next 5 years from now because I want to take over the entertainment industry production to be precise.. as I am presently studying film studies and cinematography big time here will be don in a few years time. This I would never have accomplished in Nigeria so my brother follow ur guts.

Except you have a very comfortable job offer(s) there that can match or surpass your current earnings, you better stay here in Nigeria and just be visiting abroad for vacations. There are are estates and places here that are like or even better than some areas abroad. Make yourself very comfortable here and have the best of both worlds anytime you wish.

Since your income makes sense

Why not marry, settle down and start saving money for vacation with wife and children and then relocate them there to settle there

And once you sence that your job is no longer giving you what you want, you relocate and join them there

Your monthly earnings in nigeria is around $1100 excluding bills, if you move to a good country, ur monthly earnings there can be around $2500 to $3k. If you have a good saving habit you can be saving $1100 monthly grin.

I was like this very guy some years back, I used to discourage my friends not to travel that Nigeria would be great, as at today most of them are way better then me. Till it done on me I had to do the same after wasting my time in Nigeria, so my friend thinks twice cos one little thing in that country can make you lose all you have worked for.

You make about N9M to N10M per annum as a young man, not bad.

Travel abroad often to carefully research if it is a move you'd like to make. Once you are convinced you want to relocate, then please do; but don't relocate blindly. Relocate legit, if you must.
That money is not enough again in Nigeria when having a family with children inclusive but as a bachelor, it is not bad. Japa is better your skills in IT will fetch you more in Canada or Australia than the N500k

Re: To go or stay in naija by davidadenrele: 1:05pm On Jul 26, 2023
Brotherly,

If i may advise you i will you say please Japa!! inflation in Nigeria is getting higher per seconds, you said you earn 500k monthly and you also have a side hussel that fetch you $400.00 dollars monthly, the rate at which things are going in Nigeria that 500k salary will not enough to cater for your living expenses, anymore in matter of months, am sure you have not thought about your house rent, car servicing, utility bills and so other family issues that will involved financial commitment from you.

Quietly Japa before you regret not doing so, we hope and pray that Nigeria get it right, someday but presently with the look of things a dollar to a naira at black market rate today is N868.00 naira that means its still likely going to 1k to a dollar.

Although going abroad too is not easy, except that you can plan your life and earn better with your IT skills, after few years will become a citizen you are guaranteed of a good insurance health plan, access to mortgage loans, a good pension plan for you after your retirement your kids will have access to good education, and social amenities, unlike Nigeria where you being deprived of social welfare and amenities despite paying huge tax to government.
