In Igbo culture, the widow and her family do not return any bride price upon the death of the husband as the marriage ended with the death of the husband, not divorce.

I believe death ends all marital ties in Yoruba land too.

My tradition has it that dating a widow without returning her bride price to her husband family is not an offence but such person should be aware that any pregnancy resulting from such relationship belongs to her late husband's family. This is biblical as well.
If you must claim such pregnancy you must return her bride price prior to having such relationship that might lead to marriage and hence pregnancy.
