So you people think Japa people have made 100 million... ask the one who has spent 30years eheheheheh.

You people should better stop deceiving people and avarage income in the abroad is about 60000 usd (tax inclisive)a year for career o. However it goes as high as 200000 usd plus tax for a high end career.

They have school feels... health insurance and and bill servicing to pay o.

You can save very well if you you earn from 120k a year.. but it is going to take your years if no dependent. If you have dependent sorry o

StrikeBack:
You only need the 100m to brag around and diss people around you. People living abroad are not so money conscious like people from third world countries. The highest your useless 100m will get you are probably cars and house to show on your IG and all.
People are actually living and enjoying their lifestyle even with government monthly benefits of $1800 and heaven is not falling.

We need serious reorientation in Nigeria.
Everything is not about how fat your account is.

Do not be pained! You can afford a better life for yourself in Nigeria if u truly earn like the OP! What life is abroad? One of ur people living abroad duped me of $ 6,000 in 2018. You all talk of future? What is future without money? Europe looks so bleak! I actually don't see future there. Future is in Nigeria!

I'm a software engineer working remotely from Nigeria. I earn a 7-figure monthly salary.
With my salary only (at an average exchange rate of 850/$), it would take me about 6.6 years to save up 100 million, provided I have zero dependents and had to cater only for myself throughout those years. It's quite a naive way to project this though because a lot of things can happen along those years. But it still gives an idealistic comparison base.

So my question goes to Nigerians currently living or have lived abroad. Can you tell us the country, the job title, and how long it would take to save up to NGN100 milliion, assuming you have zero dependents and have to cater for only yourself. Do remember to factor in taxes if any and other living expenses for yourself alone

The reason for my question is not far-fetched. I'm just wondering if it's worth it to sell ones' properties worth milliions just to JAPA and go start over again. Please, refrain from dragging the country's situation into your answer or any other reason to JAPA. Kindly focus on answering the question as best as possible.

Thanks.
Nobody cares about how much you make. what majority of Nigerians care about is living a decent life. You sound like a local champion that needs comparison to satisfy your ego. Enjoy your money in peace

90% of people that japa will never have that in cash till they died… They might have it in property in a long run.
They left the country to live a basic live, void of unnecessary stress and uncertainty .
People back home might make money more than the Japa people due to ease of doing business and less rules to collect half of their income for tax….
200 people of the same caliber.
100 Japa.
100 stayed back.
20 years later… they will both have regrets.
But the group that stayed back will have the most regret.
It’s had to become wealthy when you Japa, but your simple life no go hard.
Choose your difficulty wisely.
I already choose mine.
God help me.

99.999% of people that didn't japa will not make that money

That's good, once you don't spend above 50 percent of your earning , you can save easily.

Even while earning in naira , I made my first million via savings in 10 months (100k each month) . Its possible when you don't have any other responsibility

@Raydos, this is what I was trying to talk about in your thread. Every talk or argument about Nigerians is about money, more money, more more money and it ends with money.
Nobody seems to give a damn about any other thing apart from the money they make.
This thread will degenerate into an argument on who makes more money, the stage is set. This is all we care about as a people.

Sort on. Alot of 1diots think people leave thr country coz of the money. Its always money money and money for an average Nigerian youth. Very pathetic...

Is not only money that make people japa, some issues are settled, like security good road getting values for your taxes and when children is involved, your children future are secured.
Anybody trying to japa and thinking of becoming a multi millionaire or billionaire Na big mistake. But am sure once you are not lazy you will leave a comfortable life.
With the present situation in this country things are hard, salary Na pie but.
If I come to you now and I said I need 50k will you give me?
I prefer leaving this country than leaving like a prisoner in my own country.

IMHO , people who JAPA to say thier children's future will be secured are very naive.

It takes far more that to secure your children's future

That could be the abroad of before.

But the abroad of today is one where everything is getting degenerative one way or the other.

I think the better question will be to ask what the value of 100 million will be in six years time and what would happen if you lose your job while in Nigeria and how easy it would be to get another one. 1800 USD isnt a lot or a mind blowing salary

How did you arrive at $1800 when he used 6.6yrs (78 months) to make ₦100m?

No one talks about security, values, respect, serenity, easy flow, fresh air, calm, someone just want to be in his barbed wired house, with generator on, a church or mosque blasting so much noise daily. Or better, they want to be in one of those prisons called estates in lekki where you have to go through many protocols to gain access... Then they watch those who can't afford it and feel fulfilled....

You,re right in 2012 my salary was $1000 in conversion but today that salary is less than $500 and most private employers have stayed within the figure that they can pay not considering the exchange rate. The money only looks good now because of our exchange rate and our useless politician.

The question won't generate the right answer.

The truth is that making 100 million won't be through your salary... it'll be through investments, starting a company or some sorts...

Whether you can do this successfully is location independent and JAPA independent too... it's equally achievable both in 9ja and outside.

So the questioning of associating JAPA and making first 100 Mill was actually wrong.

Do you want to hear the Truth?
To earn 100Million Abroad depends on the kind of skills and Industry you are.
Medical Practitioners, Tech and few other industry will certainly be earning a lot of $ so it'll be easy for them to make that in few years.
Some Resident doctors for example make $5000 per month, Nurses around $4000.
But all these is after years of hardwork. Also, Keep in mind they're heavily taxed plus Bills too. Removing tax and bills 40% of their income is already gone.

Bottom line is if you're a king in Nigeria there's no need to migrate to become a slave. I for example earn almost $700 per month from Upwork and Fiverr, I also play 4 odds on sporty bed. my gross income is almost $1500 per month. if I convert my $ to Naira, that's a lot. If I were living in the US I will be a poor man. To make 100 Million will take me 2 -3 years.

Also here in Nigeria I'm not choked with taxes, I've never paid water bill before, I didn't pay tax when I bought my car I didn't pay vat or tax for my house, everything here is like cash and carry.

The only thing Nigeria doesn't have in human Security and Dignity of labour

But Still, I'd rather be a Rich man in Nigeria than be a struggling man in Abroad.

Most of my guys wished they never left but they'll rather die there doing manual jobs than come back because of shame.

This is not PR for Anti - Japa. I'm just telling you the reality, Abroad is not bed of roses. if you're making a lot of money here, I see no reason why you should Japa to another country to suffer.

If you're girl and you're freaky Dm

Someone I know moved to CA more than a year ago, got a car and lives in a 2 bedroom condo with his wife and child.

What if I tell you he doesn't have anything to save after paying bills per month?

Mind you, they both work and his wife's been there for years before he joined.

His lamentations eh..
I still lend him money from time to time.

This is someone that had 2 cars (bmw and benz) in Nigeria paying almost 2m yearly as rent in Lekki.

When we talk, I sense a bit of regret in his speech.

That's 8yrs but if I m taking extra shift, that's 100000/18000, that's around 5yrs

Thank you for the honest answer.

So if he also include shift, maybe it would take him less than 4yrs then.

I moved to America more than a decade ago, and I can tell you that it is almost impossible to make 100m naira at once abroad. At least l, not from just your salary alone.

When I got to America, I got into tech after working a few years as an office manager for a rehab Healthcare clinic. When I got into tech, my first salary was $125k with a sign on bonus of $20k.

I was not married then, so I was able to save more. A friend then advised me to trade stocks instead of letting my money sit in the bank and get only 1.5% interest in return for a year. I decided to trade stocks on the side while working full time. I got married and was making a decent amount on the side. One day, I fortunately caught on the GameStop boom a couple of years ago and made over $900k in one day as the stock skyrocket from just above $3 to $600 in 24hrs. The SEC had to put a hold on trading, but I had quickly sold.

I took that money and invested it in real estate.

Not many people are that fortunate. So, again , I say, if it is just salary, over time, you might be able to save up 100m naira, but you can NEVER do it at once.
