Can you read this handwriting? Does anyone understand what is written on the prescription form? Do they write like this deliberately for patients not to understand what they wrote?

They don't want you to know the drugs, so that you wouldn't go and buy them for yourself next time you have the same ailment. They must keep collecting your money each time you consult them. They're trained to write like that. The pharmacists are also trained to be able to read it clearly.

nooo,the patient had eye issue

Because of the eye drops? Could be, but clearly they're having some sort of allergy or anaphylactic symptoms.

What's that scribbled between piriton and tetracycline? Do Piriton and Loratidine work for allergies? I've got very terrible allergies to spores and dust. In full allergy mode, Actifed and Otrivin for me to stand a chance

Looks like vitamin C.

Yes, they do.

How do you cope with the drowsiness associated with Actifed? Seems you have good resistance to it, or you like it.

Lol. I don't blame my colleagues. The volume of patients to see is overwhelming. And by the way electronic prescription is taking over. I can't remember the last time I prescribed on paper.

One of the meds. Seems like the patient had something a Panado could've worked out. However, only the doctor knows what they were presented with.

Hahahahahahahahaha....I don't "like" the drowsiness per se. I like the "fight" to overcome it. When I was younger (and as long as I wasn't driving) I could take a tab and fight off the drowsiness. But these days (age is a "bastard"wink even half tablet is by the grace of God. I've figured out that a 90 minute snooze will fix the drowsiness

It is a problem that emanates from having to be fast in writing when taking notes during the course of training. Lots of them create shorthand to be able to cope and carry same to their practice

Truth though is that for 1st 3 years, the workload in medical school is heavy and
lecturers after lecturers just come and
dictate . If you are not a fast writer, you'll
get left behind in lecture notes & fast
writing sacrifices quality of the writing. That
is how it starts and remains with them.
This reason is genniue most especially in Nigeria.

It's pretty clear what is written there. The patient likely has a flu or some other discomfort with allergies. And a big headache.
Chloramphenical eye drops, piriton, Ibuprofen, tetracycline...

And you mentioned flu?๐Ÿ˜ณ

Chloramphenical and tetracycline are both antibiotics of which non is used to treat flu.

Piriton is for allergy and reactions only.

Ibuprofen is a painkiller ..Yes can be used for headache but also for other types of pain too...

This your medical condition prediction from prescription get K-leg.

When they teach u stomach and abdomen or head and neck, each in 1 week, u will be forced to develop a style of writing that is supersonic and that leaves confusion to the outside world in its wake....

No, I haven't... But as long as the prescriptions have their names written on them, I can still get them outside of the hospital pharmacy if I want.
ibrocool:
Have you ever encountered a prescription that it is so hard to read. Even pharmacists outside the hospital won't get it.

When you see over 100 patients writing notes for them you would understand why the writing is this way.
Doctors in Nigeria are over-worked, overstretched, and grossly under paid and underundervalued

It is not for you to understand, just take the prescription to the pharmacist.

It is not intended to be understood by laymen.

Any medical practitioner will read those writing very clearly.

Even an apprentice in a pharmacy won't have issues understanding them.

so I should foldy hands and watch as the doctor directs the pharmacist to administer anything into my own body, even if it's POISON?

It may also had been written on this same paper that the pharmacist should tear the paper inorder to destroy all evidence.

So you don't even trust your doctor? Why then did you go to him?

Then a random pharmacist who may not even know the doctor will quickly key into the doctor's plan to commit murder and all after, destroy evidence.

Start treating yourself and avoid doctors. Don't even allow any surgeon to operate on you or any of your relations if the need arises.

Even if he is a random pharmacist, what if it's also writen in that shorthand language that *the patient is responsible for low salaries being paid to medical practitioners in Nigeria, and must be terminated at once* grin
