This week, the ASI gained 4.56% WoW to a historic high of 70,196.77pts, bringing the Year-to-Date return to a new level of 36.97% (vs. 31.00% in the previous week). All sectoral indices recorded week-on-week gains save the NGXOILGAS, which closed flat WoW.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken a proactive step to address outstanding foreign exchange (FX) forward contracts to restore confidence in Nigeria's economy. Specifically, it is reported that the apex bank has commenced the disbursement to several banks and airlines, effectively clearing the backlog. This action underscores the government's commitment to stabilizing the naira. In response, the naira at the official window (NAFEM) appreciated week-on-week by 1.78% to settle at NGN776.14/USD. Additionally, the Senate has approved a supplementary budget of NGN2.17trn for 2023, with a deficit of NGN6.25trn (c. 3.39% of the country's GDP). This supplementary budget allocation, which addresses critical national priorities, includes NGN605bn allocated for bolstering security and national defense efforts. We expect that this budget will assist in confronting ongoing security challenges effectively and stimulate economic growth in the country. On corporate actions, Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc (STANBIC) announced that its banking subsidiary, Stanbic IBTC Bank, has been reregistered as a private limited company, effective October 31, 2023. Importantly, this transition maintains the bank's status as a wholly owned subsidiary STANBIC, with no alterations in ownership, shareholding structure, or core business objectives. The re-registration is primarily intended to streamline the bank's legal entity, eliminating any prior confusion in the market where investors and the public often incorrectly identified the bank as the listed entity rather than STANBIC. Furthermore, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc (GLAXOSMITH) has received approval from the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) to propose a Scheme of Arrangement to shareholders to dissolve GSK's business. Under the terms of the Scheme, all outstanding shares of GLAXOSMITH will subsequently be cancelled, while all shareholders (except GSK UK) will receive a total cash distribution of NGN17.42 per share owned.

Presently, GSK is at N12.40. Expect it to be on Full Bid by Monday. If one can get it now at 12.40, you get to pocket 40.50% gain on your invested capital.

Don't believe the N100 million to N500 million per annum salary we read in the annual reports, because in the annual report they informed us that those figures were exclusive of certain benefits and allowances.

It is also possible to get cheap loans at 15% from your employer.

Na for this market we dey 2 years ago when insiders for United Capital, even security men and cleaners dey accumulate the shares at N7.00.

I also got a loan from United Capital at 18% to buy more at N8 and the Investment is up 100%

The path/route to success of any top official of a tier 1 bank who cannot raise N500million by using their resources (access to loans with privileged terms, returns on aging investments, relationships, sales/lease of assets, etc) to key into a sighted opportunity/investment might be questionable.

I believe after working and investing for 20 years and above, one should have been able to build business relationships, have investments, created streams of income, have tangible assets that can be used to get loans equivalent to 3 times of the person's salary in order to harness economic and investment opportunities.

Saying someone with a verifiable source of income for the past 25 years bought an investment that is more than the person's annual salary get as e be, especially when the investment is equivalent to less than what he makes in 2 years

No problem when person buy car or house that is more than the person's annual salary, but there is a problem when he buys shares and other financial assets that is more than his annual salary

Really what is the market rate.

Na animal farm , we are not equal.

The higher the risk of the loan going bad and lack of enough collateral security, the higher the interest rates. It can be higher than 28% per annum.

For secureษ— loans you can get at 18% to 21%.

Big companies like MTN, Dangote etc can even get at lower rates

If you have a fixed deposit which you don't want to liquidate prematurely but you pledged it as a collateral ie cash backed loan you can get at 12% sef.

Again Tony can ask United Capital to package a commercial paper or corporate bond for him at 15% and below.

The transaction should be concluded in 3 months.

Even at N16, if and investor invested N1 million he would still make over 60k or 6% within 3 months

I'm sure Norrenberger means business and they will come up with what they will want to do with retail shareholders.
For now, they are consolidating. Norrenbeger wants to be a financial hub. They are currently in Asset management having about three funds, pension, stockbroking, investment banking, and insurance business. I'm very sure they will do shareholders well.
