Lol. If you have been to Cape Town I can assure you London is not as beautiful that is what you are comparing Kenya that is like Nigeria to.

There is no single place in Nigeria that is beta developed than anywhere in Capetown Joburg Durban Pretoria. Those are the cities have been to in SA.

Every single area in those cities is beta than the best of the beat in Nigeria.

I obviously haven't been there.

Yeah, kudos to you on having been everywhere in SA.

Where even beautiful for Kenya.
I have been to Nairobi 3 times n can't pick a place beta developed than most well tarred Nigeria location but in SA I am yet to see a single location the most beautiful location in Nigeria can compete with not even a single

pansophist:

Yes. Seychelles has the best-performing passport in Africa. Seychellois can visit a whopping 150 countries on Earth without a visa. And that includes the whole of Europe, Russia, China and India.

For comparison, Nigerians can visit just 45 countries, and if you minus the other 14 ecowas countries, then it's just 31. And the 31 countries are just places you might havent heard of, or not worthy to go grin

Nieu, Kiribati, Comoros, Fiji, Micronesia, Iran, Palau, Samoa, St kiss and Nevis, Vanuatu. LOL. Can you find any of these countries on the map? Oh Nigeria my country. cry

Kenya is beautiful, but on a pound-for-pound basis, SA is far more beautiful than Kenya. Cape Town for example has constantly been voted the most beautiful city in the world. No Kenyan city has won that title.

You are so funny, SA as more cities have not been to but whenever I visit the country next I will be touring the entire states in the country, don't know when that will be though.

Exactly. It's just like an ego thing. I mean, I know something of quality needs money, but abeg, not to the point of it being ridiculously overpriced.

There may still be some truly elite, influential people in Lekki but it looks like almost everyone there is a social climber like the other. grin

The advantage of name is one thing the place still has.

The island sef, I look am finish, I ask myself, is this the best Lagos can do? The island still has everything that shows it's an unstructured Nigerian city.

From the scattered electric wires in the sky, free-roaming goats and chickens, no underground drainage system, no sidewalk, hawkers, homeless people sleeping on the street at night, clogged gutters, illiterate policemen, etc

Some folks will now be feeling fly that they live on the island. When in reality, they are just one calamity away from being a beggar tomorrow, take a clue from sick celebrities.

Don't let Tinubu boys, the builders of Lagos see this comment o.

Honestly, I'm beginning to see it now- in comparison to other states, people in Lagos live in a bubble. And next to other countries in Africa, Nigerians still think they are the best/first.

It's honestly so heartbreaking because normally development should be a forward thing. I have seen pictures of old Lagos from my parents' diaries, and it seems like we were on the right path. Nigerians used to speak well, too. I don't know when/where/how our development got arrested. We can't boast of basic working things that makes a city a city. And they want to jump all the way to being a mega-city.

With the exception of The Experience (which is even local to Nigeria, and is ran by an individual man), I don't know what other world event that we can successfully host.

The proposed Nicki Minaj's tour of Africa, I am still skeptical about her visiting here. grin

If she managed to visit because of fan love, I am scared of the logistics and optics.

Check out these videos. This is in Enugu o. I saw it and I was humbled lipsrsealed. See the roads.

Omg. This. This. Just one policy. Just one policy. You're one policy away from having nothing. Is there even still an observable middle class in this country? Before you can be certain that you can graduate, get job, maybe save, invest, build wealth and advance in your career. Now there's almost no guarantee. Nothing to show for people's hardwork.

The lady that died in the elevator, nothing has come out of that case. The whole estate in Lekki that was demolished, nobody has answered for that. Tankers are falling over bridges every other day, and no one is accountable. Everything is just anyhow. Urban planning, zero. Waste management, pffft.

Like, aside the desire to be rich, most people really just want live a basic comfortable life. Have a secured access to water, electricity, data (God will punish MTN people, on one hand, for the way they're zapping data nowadays), and that is why they japa.

You know that a 30-minute difference in your daily plan can influence how the whole of your day go? If you leave your house by 5:30 a.m., you're guarantee to get to your place of work before eight a.m. But if you wait until 6:00 a.m., you will never get to your office even at after ten a.m. grin

Omo, talk plenty. People are just surviving in this country, not living.

Imagine when we're yet to get simple infrastructure right, how long will it take for our behaviours and beliefs to meet up in closing the cultural lag (difference) or at least reducing it? cheesy

I would have said we have a long way to go, but I nor sure say we still dey for the way like this. We don derail enter bush/ditch.

If Nigeria is a person, it will be an imbeciile. Calling Nigeria underdeveloped (or third world) implies that it will develop. No, it won't. It is not me cursing it, but after examining Nigeria deeply across its politics, formation, history, geopolitically, economy, people, and present challenges, Nigeria is a human imbeciile.

An imbecille won't become normal, it will only grow older and have brown teeth, smelly breath, and grey hair. Thats Nigeria. In the 70s, Nigeria was legitimately underdeveloped and could be called a third-world country, with the hope to grow and rival even South Africa.

But after the Biafran war, the country shifted from third world to something else. And here we are, one dollar is over one thousand naira.

And will keep getting worse.

Compared to some other Nigerian cities, Lagos does not even come close in terms of beauty.

Tiny roads, traffic, crowded, few parks, few/no trees, disproportionately expensive, water problem, etc. The matte is plenty.

The tragedy of Lagos you speak of today was the result of gross underdevelopment of Lagos state between 1984 to 1999. During the 15 year period, not much infrastructure was developed, and worse, there was a bastardization of town planning zones. That was when Victoria moved from being a residential neighbourhood to a commercial one.

When Buhari first came to power on 31st December, 1983, he cancelled the Lagos metro line project. This project would have transformed Lagos transportation. If I am correct, a contract had even been signed for it.

Forget what the white men left. They were a disgrace. Only 5% of Nigerians were educated as at 1960. I doubt the British built a single public school. The Nigeria they left behind was destined to fail.

For the elections that brought Abubakar Talewa to office, was "rigged" in favour of the Northerners.

There were 3 zones. North, Southwest and South east.

Out of these zones, the North had the least populations but they controlled the most seats. If I am correct, the North had only half the population of even the Southeast. At the end of the day, Azikiwe ended up as a figurehead president.

I am apolitical and neutral. I am just explaining things the way they are.

I believe Tinubu and co could have done better for Lagos if there was less corruption. Tinubu used Lagos as his base to not only control South west politics but ultimately to preside over Nigeria.

Like it was just a random nudging, and now that you've said you were hustling under the rain, it made sense why the thought popped up in my mind. It must be the universe or something.

(Anybody) saying you're not good enough lo far. Not for me. Even the simplest detail of your day will matter to me 🥺. That's only if you're mine, though, but you're not, so I am not going to ask about it.
