2. After 1865, they suffered from legalized segregation and discrimination which frustrated their ability to rise. Had there been no prejudice

3. Most importantly, the US set up a welfare scheme in the 1960s (AFDC) that gave welfare money to single mothers who did not have a job. It also came with free health for her and the kid. The more kids you had, the more money you got. Any increase stopped at 4 kids. Also, the welfare from the state stopped the second they got married. Many simple chose never to marry.

Long suffering black woman grabbed this checks with both hands. Many simply chose not to work and just have kids. The stigma associated with being a single parent disappeared.

In the early 1960s, 70% of all black kids were born to 2 parent families. Today, 70% are raised by single mothers.

Why is this important? Because children raised by single mothers then to fare worse in life.

Sons raised by single mothers are many times more likely to become criminals than those raised by single fathers or 2 parent families.

Daughters raised by single mothers are most likely to become single mothers themselves.

Though the generosity of the AFDC was reduced in the mid 1990s, it already had its devastating effect on the black family.

You tried to use a lot of data to justify why Black Americans are the way they are BUT all you did was provide CONCRETE arguments in support of the OP.

First, it is disturbing that you would distort a scheme that was intended to make society better into something sinister.

Obviously, the scheme was the dividend of a GREAT DEMOCRACY that cares about the lots of its people. Yet, no OTHER black people have access to such. But BAs did. That they chose to abuse it is the whole point of this thread.

NEXT, ask yourself this:

Why did such a wholesome scheme have a devastating effect on Black Americans and NOT OTHER AMERICANS?

Or was the scheme exclusively for Black Americans?

What use of words

I can see some people making excuses for BAs. I'm not a fan of excuses or blame game cos if we dwell on that, it will end up pointing back to God and the question will be God, why did you create the world. Excuses and blame is the only thing everyone can do effortlessly without going to school to learn it.

I don't in anyway downplay the past terrible experiences of BAs, the same way I don't downplay that of black nations who suffered colonization and exploitation. Both BAs and black nations suffered in the past. However, this is 2023 and these excuses are now moot. If not, the question will be at what point P or time T or year Y or moment M are we going to break from the past? 50 years from now? 100 years? What has happened in the past despite how terrible it was can't be undone unfortunately so what happens next?

There is nothing wrong with failure. Failure is normal and part of life but you have to own it. If you fail, rather than excuses or blame game, own it and work harder to change the story. If not, in the next 100 years nothing will change after all you will have something to blame it on.

Japan is the only country that has been nuked. The 2nd world war brought Japan to her knees. But Japan rose from the ashes of the war to become the world's 2nd largest economy despite not having natural resources. China just overtook them last decade.

In r/blackpeopletwitter, you'll find things like Celebrities, gossips, food and SEX. Overall, it's a bunch of meaningless things.

In r/whitepeopletwitter, 90% percent of the posts are about the political atmosphere in the country. The rest could be about gender and other social issues.

You visit one and your feel your mind expand. You visit the other and you can feel something s sucking out your IQ with a giant straw.

That said, they have some saving grace amongst them. People like Obama, Ben Carson, Denzel Washington,Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock are the reasons why black Americans have not been completely written off.
